Have you ever thought that you should get a scholarship just for being the awesome person you are? Do you dream of winning free money just because, well, you deserve it? If so, you’re not alone! If you answered yes to either of those questions, then we know of a great scholarship opportunity for you, it’s called the Top Ten List Scholarship. You simply have to give us 10 reasons why you deserve our scholarship. It sounds easy, but we’ve got some important “do’s and don’ts” you’ll need to pay attention to if you want to be our winner.
First, let’s talk rules:
To be an eligible applicant, you must be:
- 13 years of age or older
- A legal resident of the United States
- Planning to enroll in an accredited college or university
To apply for this award, simply tell us – in 250 words or less – the top ten reasons why you deserve to win a $1,500 scholarship. It may sound simple, but we have some tips that could make or break your essay.
First, notice that the word “List” is in the title of the scholarship. We want a list of reasons, but you don’t necessarily have to submit your reasons in a list format. For example, you could create a poem with your ten reasons, or even tell a short story. If you do use a list, be sure it’s unique. One thing we often see on lists is “I deserve this scholarship because I’m awesome!” We believe you…you probably are an amazing individual, but that’s not specific enough for us. We are more interested in WHY you’re awesome. Give us the details! Maybe you’re awesome because you can juggle five tennis balls while eating dinner with your feet. Now THAT is awesome!
Here’s another tip: your reasons can be funny, serious, creative, or heartfelt. Just have some fun with your response. If you want to see some great examples, check out the winning responses from previous years. We know you think you deserve this scholarship, but now it’s time to convince us. Good luck!
