It was a wonderful campus and the staff were very welcoming. The academic options were very diverse and the student life was very full of light. The resources that they provided for the students such as budgeting apps for financial aid and they utilize their Instagram to catch the students attention.

I have visited CSUB several time on trips due to my evolvement in Young Women Empowered Through Leadership conferences during high school. At these conferences I've been on tours through the school and viewed how much of a important role I will play when attending. The staff and other students are very kind and considerate, taking lots time to express the important in ethnic clubs like YWEL and how they will continue this support to all the students who attend here.

CSUB looks like an amazing school from what I've seen so far. The students are nice and know their stuff. There are on-campus jobs, and lots of opportunities to join an organization or club. The professors were welcoming. The campus and clean and lively.

As a transfer student passionate about kinesiology and education, I’m drawn to California State University, Bakersfield because of its strong Kinesiology program and inclusive campus culture. The Allied Health concentration aligns perfectly with my goal to become a physical education teacher who supports underserved communities. I value how CSUB blends hands-on learning with community engagement, giving students real experience through activity courses and internships. As someone who didn’t always feel supported during my transfer journey, I’m excited to join a school that values student growth and belonging. CSUB feels like the right place to build my future and gives back meaningfully.

The campus is very beautiful, I really enjoy the scenery. Sure there might be people who are rude all around you but that didn't really affect my visit for the school. I really hope I get into this school. I answered the questions from what I have heard of from people that currently attend

California Stare University-Bakersfield College is such a beautiful and amazing school all around. CSUB has around 100 clubs to join so you're never bored! Since I am an entering freshman I have yet to meet and learn about my professors but have heard many positive things about them and cannot wait for my time as a runner to begin!!

California State University-Bakersfield is a great university. Most of the professors are super understanding and willing to make accommodations for you if you let them know with good timing. Especially with everything that is going on in the rest of the world.

CSUB is great for students academically. The classes are small, and the professors really do care about the students and their success in courses and in college. The downside of CSUB has to be the lack of food and social activities. If you want to participate in activities, you have to go looking for it.

It’s a wonderful school to attend if you want a casual college life experience. It’s not over bearing with students who just want to party every night but it’s also not just about learning. It’s what you would call a middle ground school where you will find student involved with clubs, recreational sports and the csub committee. With multiple access to classrooms, library and study rooms for all your exams.

Albeit that the CSUB I go to is the extension, I hope the main campus is better than the extension at AV. The extension is only for school and could do much more for its student body. CSUB could invest more time into making the AV extension into somewhere interesting and fun to go to but it only focuses on classes and nothing else. Organized sports and greek life would be great to start off.

I have only been attending for a few months and I would say that overall it’s a pretty good school. I never have any problems while I am there. I even like all my teachers! They have so far made my first year of college pretty good and not too stressful. I even recommended my sister to attend there next fall. I can not wait to graduate as a roadrunner!

California State University-Bakersfield is overall a great looking campus filled with kind and knowledgeable people. It has a lot of great facilities that the students can access for educational and recreational purposes. It offers a lot of different educational opportunities such as guest speakers as well as a lot of on-campus employment opportunities. The professors are kind and many go out of their way to help students. Overall it is a college I would recommend attending.

Overall, CSUB is a great campus, in my opinion, class sizes are big but small enough for one on one help. Also, school spirit is great and almost everyone is a team player when it comes to athletics and programs/events happening on campus. Professors, advisors, and faculty are almost always at your service whenever needed and everyone on campus is always nice and helpful. CSUB became a second home to me where I made great friends and even greater memories, though there is not much to do out in Bakersfield, making great friends and exploring is always a great way to make time pass by and have a good time.

There are several awesome professors at this college that want to see their students grow. Most of the professors are the best piece to this campus. The campus is small which has its pros and cons. Campus PD are cool. Good luck getting into classes if your major is accounting and you're a senior. Dorms are expensive. CSUB and Bakersfield leave a non-Bakersfieldian tittering at this tragedy. It is better than nothing. Graduate and get out!
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for California State University-Bakersfield is 67%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I have realized that I am not the only older person going back to school. It is comforting to see people my age and older doing the same thing I am. I have learned to appreciate the value of education, and am grateful for all the help I have received along the way.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
The campus is nice and has lots of room. In addition, the school president take a great interst in the school and has been working hard to get teh university in a better standing and is making real progress doing so.
I think the best thing about my school is that the students are very intelligent, goal-driven, and determined to succeed. This makes focusing on my goal easier becuase I'm surrounded with people that also want to succeed. Very rarely I run into people that take the college thing as a joke. Everyone knows how to have a good time, but everyone also knows when it's time to study.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I brag the most about how much this community supports the academic and athletic side of things. The teams give back so much to the community and they give back with their support! I could brag all day about how great the surrounding community is when it comes to CSUB.
There is general education requirements and there is a lot of them! It's easy to stay on track as you can take summer courses to get ahead and finish your GenEd in two years. Your major also depends on how many GenEd you can take, so keep in mind that it may take longer. Moving forward, in my major everything was too fast paced for me as we had 10 weeks to learn as much as we could. I really did give up quality for quantity. I felt like I didn't learn deep enough in some of the courses that regard my field which truly bothers me. I don't care so much about the GenEd because although they can be interesting and help me in different ways, they won't be the major source of income for me in the future. This may change with the semester system, however.
That being said, I hope that the quality of work produced by students also improves. I cannot tell you how many times I have read or seen papers turned in that are grammatically incorrect, make no sense rationally and look like only five minutes was spent working on the paper. It's really frustrating and does not represent our school well.
Furthermore, the professors are generally on top of things but every now and again you will stumble upon the professor who expects too much and/or is too sloppy. Overall, academics are EXTREMELY important and will get you continued help, continued support and continued love. Trust me, if you don't do well academically the school does not give you opportunities to succeed and will put you on academic probation where you'll have to take community college classes to get back in. They will also treat you like you don't exist as they do not want to worry about students who do not worry about their grades. THIS IS COLLEGE PEOPLE!!! You should worry. On the other spectrum, if you are an honors student you get priority registration, specific scholarship opportunities and a major focus on you. Basically you need to show them what you can do and they will make things happen for you. Hopefully this gives you an idea about the school's academics.
The school isn't the fanciest or the best but it does give you the best bang for your buck. I believe that the ease of not having to worry about finances gives you less stress. You really get what you give. I would say that CSUB also varies between majors. Some majors have much more funding than others and are more active. Others aren't as great a program as you'd get elsewhere. I know that a popular major is nursing and the surrounding fields. Sports are fairly big and the Rec center is the greatest thing since slice bread! The equipment may not be as up-to-date in your program as you'd expect and parking is awful. Sometimes the teachers are bad too and sometimes the teachers are great. (Go to ratemyprofessor.com to learn about which classes are easy and what to expect in the class). Good or bad, the school wants you to succeed and they help when you reach out so use your resources! You are paying for them after all. Finally, this school also treats you like an actual college student and doesn't baby you. Which I truly appreciate.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
It all depends on the perspective and where you are. At CSUB other UC's or even CalState's see this school as less than them. Our school sucks in their eyes. In the eyes of Bakersfield College we are like attending a UC. It's all for the idea of the budget. CSUB does not have fancy technology or fancy classrooms and the like but we do have opportunities which is ultimately what you want/need in a college. These accusations are neither true nor untrue. We suck at some aspects but we make it up in other parts of our school. Ultimately, this school is one where you make your own future and it is open ended. It gives you opportunities to succeed, you just need to take the plunge and get involved.
