I attend this school for graduate school in counseling. I have not had the opportunity to live on campus and I commute from a different city. In my opinion, the professors are passionate about what they do and have had experience being counselors themselves. The program is affordable as well. Most of the graduate classes are online and some are in person. The program is flexible if you want to be a part-time student or a full-time student for graduate work. I have seen that UNK has sports events and they are well attended. They also have some pretty big names come and perform on campus, like Yung Gravy. I consistently get emails about events on campus which range from multicultural events, academic conferences, and study abroad opportunities. The buildings I have seen are recently renovated as well. On campus they have multiple coffee shops (including Starbucks) and a few fast-food places (like Subway). There are multiple restaurants nearby too. I haven't had the chance to try campus food. They have a gym here too with a rock-climbing wall if you are interested! Apparently, every student has tried it once. The students I have worked with so far in the graduate program, are focused on the program. I would say half of them just earned their bachelor's degree and the other half are working adults. So, there is no partying. People came here to get a degree and change their careers after all. What I like about this program is that you get field experience. There isn't a thesis you complete, instead you are doing hours in the field of counseling. I like how practical it is to our lives.

My opinion of UNK is that I feel very welcome here. All of the professors are there to help you succeed. There are many opportunities to get help in any class. Students are also very helpful and very kind. Its an amazing campus. I may be just a freshman but I am glad I chose UNK to be my home for the next 3 1/2 years.

Jennifer - 06/06/2020

I think University of Nebraska in Kearney is great university to attend. It's very welcoming with all students. Professors are always willing to help with their students and focus on their grades. The university of Kearney very much do care about their students GPA and grades they reach out to their students that they believe are struggling.

Freeman - 07/05/2019

The University of Nebraska at Kearney is located in a growing town and has a variety of different activities that make it feel at home. The professors at UNK are available to help students whenever they need it. They are very concerned about student success, which is why I really enjoy and recommend UNK. UNK class size is great as well, I feel that the support we receive from professors is due to the lower classs size, which is amazing.
