Growing up under legal guardianship has shaped my perspective on resilience, gratitude, and the transformative power of education. My guardian’s sacrifices and her providing stability, love, and opportunities despite financial strain has taught me that hardship can fuel purpose. Now, as I pursue nursing, I carry her lessons with me. I know that every challenge is a chance to grow and every act of support is a gift to honor. This scholarship resonates with my journey because it represents more than financial relief, it would be an investment in someone determined to turn her difficulties into impact.
Witnessing my guardian’s careful budgeting instilled in me a fierce work ethic and a deep appreciation for education. I vow to make all her planning to get me ahead count. Nursing, with its blend of compassion and skill, became my calling. It’s a profession where I can heal others just as my guardian healed my circumstances through dedication and care. But to be successful in this field, I need the freedom to focus on studies, clinicals, and campus engagement without the weight of financial stress.
This scholarship would alleviate the burden on my guardian and allow me to fully immerse myself in college. Living on campus means more than convenience, it’s the key to building the relationships and resilience that define a nurse. Late-night study groups, mentorship from professors, and hands-on training would prepare me not just to graduate, but to thrive. Most importantly, it would affirm that my financial situations don’t not limit my future, it strengthens it.
With this support, I will become a nurse who advocates for others, just as my guardian advocated for me. My story is proof that barriers can become bridges, and I am ready to prove the worth of this investment.

I loved Russell Sage the minute I walked on the campus.
I wanted a smaller school. Russell Sage fits that for me. I feel its a communitee based school who teaches kids to give back.

I enjoy the community in Russell Sage. Their accepted students day was full of activities and nice people to help you whenever you needed it. From their student activity displays, they have a lot of events and it makes me want to attend the school even more. I feel like I will feel included in the community and I’ll get to meet new people.

I visited the Sage College of Albany and much to my surprise I really enjoyed the visit. I had a few other colleges in mind but once I saw what they had to offer I committed to going there that day.

The Sage Colleges offers small class sizes, which is greatly beneficial to students and aids in learning. Additionally, the professors, for the most part, are very attentive, knowledgeable, and form relationships with their students. In terms of improvement, the Sage Colleges could explore renovations to their Troy, NY campus, such as in the Science Hall, as well as expand parking on both the Albany and Troy campus.

The Sage Colleges is a school that you grow to love. Coming from a very busy urban area, switching to the small closed campus takes getting used to at first, but afterwards it's great. The classes are fairly small, which means you get to have better relationships with your teachers and classmates. There's always someone to talk to or turn to if you need any help. Sage is overall a great school which I'm grateful to be attending.

Russell Sage is one big family, the traditions are plentiful and there are a lot of clubs to join. It is also fairly easy to create a club if you want to. It is also relatively easy to change majors. A unique feature is that you can take classes either at Russell Sage or the Sage College of Albany campuses. There are great people and staff here.

Very small school in an up-and-coming area of NYS. Troy has a lot to offer, and Russell Sage sits in the heart of it all. The college is small, so everyone who works in the office is eager and available to help with registration, financial aid, etc. Overall, great location, small class sizes, but very expensive private college.

I love the Sage Colleges. I am currently attending Russell Sage College and it is an amazing opportunity to attend this college. I love the energy that this college brings every day. This college demonstrates others how diverse and inclusive we are.

I would say my experience at Sage has been less than pleasant. The dorms were unwelcoming and uncomfortable, the food mediocre, and people are not especially friendly. I have had about two exceptional professors at Sage, one of which i met during my third year.

At any other large university, you're just a number and not a student. At Russell Sage, you're a name and a face that almost everyone knows. Other colleges promise you opportunities and chances to stand out, but how can you in a crowd consisting of thousands of students? That's why Russell Sage is different, that is what it's strongest feature of the campus is. I'm not a student ID in a lecture hall of five hundred plus kids. I'm Isabella, in a class that consists of only six other students. Your voice (alongside your absence, if a bout of laziness were to convince you to play hooky) is truly noticed. Granted, you might not necessarily end up knowing every single person in your graduating class or major personally. But the chances of you ever running into a face you haven't seen before are slim to none. Never once will you feel like a stranger lost in a sea; it's a small, friendly pond with personalized interactions on a first name basis, where even the smallest quirks about yourself are recognized and praised.

The Sage Colleges are very open and welcoming to new individuals. It's a little strange having all of the sage colleges known as the sage colleges because theres russell sage, sage of albany, sage online etc. its a little crazy and confusing. Im not a fan of the all girls part.

The college environment here fosters higher learning and deep thought. At the end of each semester you receive a report of how your professors see you as a student which really help you focus on problem areas and know where to grow.

Great education. You get what you put into any education experience. There are two campuses. Sage College of Albany in Albany is co-ed. Russell Sage College in Troy, is primarily a womens college. Very different vibes on either campus. Both are excellent. There are cross over classes on both campuses. Transportation via a shuttle is easy. The professors are excellent. Both campus's are small and easy to navigate, which is very helpful when you have classes in the cold weather. It is better than area colleges 3 x the cost.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for The Sage Colleges is 57%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I would tell you to make sure you visit the campus. I didn't expect to go to a small all girls college. When I visited I loved the atmosphere and really enjoyed the professors. Good Luck!
Someone that is dedicated and willing to put forth a lot of effort. They must be driven and competitive. An individual who is outgoing and seeks out extracurricular activities and hobbies will be viewed favorably. This person must be good at multitasking or time management.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Even though we are located in Troy, NY, are campus is full of beautiful Victorian houses as dorms. Also the fact that it is an all-women's college promotes women in everything we do. But don't get me wrong, just because it is a single-sex college doesn't mean we are sexist. We have a great staff consisting of equal amounts of men and women. We have a lot of opportuinites to suggest an idea and completely go through with it, which I think, is a real way of obtaining knowledge.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
The main thing I brag about is it fun school work I get. What I am learning about takes me beyond my major it is life experiences that I will take with my forever. It makes it so easy to learn :)
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The fact that it is an all girls school and there are a lot of feminists. Another frustrating thing is financial aid. It seems as though you can not attend a private instiution unless you are from a wealthy family. I have to work full time while attending the school full time in order to squeak by and even earn any credits.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
98% of students attending The Sage Colleges receive some sort of financial aid.
52% were awarded federal grants.87%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
