Andrews University is a wonderful place to be. They provide several services that cater to the well-being and development of its students and I find this a very important trait for a university and Andrews University definitely ticks the box in this regard. It is a great establishment and one that nurtures you for the future in achieving success and being a person who makes a difference wherever they go. I see Andrews University as nothing short of exceptional and excellence.

It seemed like a good school. Academics seemed really easy and professors appeared available and ready to help. Very small classes/school so everyone knew everyone. However, they are a seventh-day Adventist university and take that seriously. If you are non-denominational or of another denomination, this probably is not the school for you. You are required to have "co-curriculars" like attending Saturday church/worship services etc. Also, keep in mind their food options on campus are 100% vegetarian. You are able to bring your own, however no non-vegetarian options will be provided by the university.

it's not bad. could be better. They need to actually train advisors so students don't get messed up last minute because the people who are told they can help are just as clueless. Some older buildings need a restoration period but haven't been worked on yet. the culture of saving public face needs to be looked into closer. other than that it's pretty good.

Great school but tuition and cost of attendance can be a little high. Good facilities with flexible hours and resources available for students, great security but accommodation can be limited and competitive. All in all, the education provided is worth it.

If you are looking for a college where you will be truly valued as an individual, then Andrews University is the place for you! The faculty treats students like family, which is extremely helpful for those who aren't close to home. You'll have no problem finding/making friends, because everyone is so friendly. Even better, Andrews University is nationally ranked as the second most diverse campus in the United States!

The dorms are small and the building are old but God is there. Student and facility are nice and care about you being there. It is expensive but it’s worth it for the experience through God. However they do not have any sports so that is rather unfortunate.

It's a great environment for students to come and learn. The diversity that Andrews University brings is one of the strong points along with the Christ centred environment that it provides. As an international student ,it was important for me to find a university that would remind me of home. Being here in Berrien Springs, Michigan reminds me of the years I spent at Northern Caribbean University, Jamaica, now ranked as number one in the country. Andrews University is conducive not only for Christian learning but helps us a students to develop our wellbeing holistically to be leadership of the future.

I really enjoyed my time here and took away a lot from my experience. Since there's not particularly a lot to do off campus, the people really matter, and the people there are generally nice and welcoming. The professors know your name after one time meeting them, and they have a personal interest in watching you succeed. There are few other schools that have professors who love the students this much. It is an Adventist school, so sometimes, it might be difficult to get used to the culture, especially coming from the public school system, but once you get adjusted, there are a lot of hidden gems at Andrews University.

Andrews is a great place to both study and make lifelong friends. 2 hours away from the closest big city, (Chicago), students have the opportunity to hunker down, master their academics, and go out to change the world. The semi-rural surroundings do provide opportunities to spend time in nature. Evening walks, snow-tubing during the winter months, and berry-picking are all well-liked pastimes. The beach and several local eateries are also student favorites. Two of the best things about Andrews are: 1) the spiritual culture and study tours. Students are encouraged to not only develop themselves professionally and academically, but also to take care of their spirit. Also, most departments plan study tours throughout the school year in a variety of locations around the world. Whether scuba diving in the Dominican Republic for spring break, skiing the slopes of Colorado, or on safari in Tanzania, there is a trip for everyone.

Andrews University is a small private university that does not really change. It's hard to make big changes around campus because the process is difficult. Everything is not catered towards what the student body wants or needs and so it can be rather difficult at times. It seems like there is no connection between administration and students. The classroom sizes are quite nice, the teacher to student ratio is small and light making interpersonal relationships with Professors doable.

This school has its own airstrip I mean wow seeing planes taking off and landing is so cool. The campus is beautiful and the staff there is so interacting and helpful. The places nearby might be a little far but they're some cool places to have fun and get supplies from.

The most attractive part of Andrews University would be the welcoming atmosphere. Here you come as a trembling new student, but leave with a new found confidence in yourself installed by the professors, classmates, and staff. Although there is always room for improvement, one can really feel the campus pride-- the unity of all being Andrews University students. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this university so far.

I greatly enjoy Andrews University for its graduate program that I am a student in. The school is religious based and I myself am not faith based, even still the school is very open to and accepting of my individual perspective. There is not much of a sports presence nor is there really a city life, but on campus there is a close community and many opportunities.

Attending a Seventh-Day Adventist school has its cons and perks. Andrews is known for being one of the most diverse schools with cultures cross wide. You are guaranteed to meet people from all over the world. Academics are also very important at the school as we house some of the best programs.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Andrews University is 40%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
There are two main things that I regret from my college experience. First, I wish I had figured out what degree I wanted from school before I went there. Doing more research and being more active in my plans for college would have saved me a lot of headache and money. In retrospect, I realize that assuming I would figure things out as I went was not the best idea. Having a plan would have made the past few years a lot easier. Also, I would advise a new college student to get involved as much as possible. Meet people and do things the first few years of school. Don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone. I now realize that I missed out on a lot of opportunities and learning experiences because I didn't take enough chances. It doesn't have to be anything huge, just go to that party even though you don't really know anyone there. Try out for that club team or run for an office if that is what you want. In a few words, my advice is to take control of your life instead of just letting life happen.
The teachers really care about their students and want them to succeed. They make themselves available to help students to make sure everyone can succeed in their classes.
The best thing about this school is that kids genuinely get a Christian education, the administration really puts emphasis on living a Christian life, while yet placing a high standard on academic education.
One thing I would change about the school or add to the school rather would be a career services department, they really need to bridge the gap between the school aspect and the real world but I think overall location really hinders this aspect of the school.
The way people react when they have heard I've been to this school really depends on the individual, if it is someone from Adventist circles, you are looked on with high regard because the school is after all the flagship institution of Seventh-Day Adventist education, however people who are not from Adventist circles may not have heard of Andrews but this too can be due to location seeing that I've moved to another state.
I spent most of my time on campus in the dormitory and yes for the most part Andrews is located in a college town. There is a lot of school pride; Andrews is the type of school that even after people have graduated they still find their way back at the school because regardless of what anyone says (mostly about the weather) it's definitely a place people want to be because of the diversity and the many people you meet from all over the world.
One experience I'll always remember is graduating from Andrews and students mostly complain about the weather because it's cold but most people tend to get used to it.
Christians as andrews is a very chrisitan school. I love my department but i'm not a christian and it can be a pain with required worships and strict rules.
The professors do know your name and for the most part I have met really professional, helpful professors. My favorite class probably was Intro to Web Design, my least favorite class was Business Finance. Students study often, there's lot's to do and little time. Class participation is common and sometimes if not most times factors into your grade. Students do have intellectual discussions outside of class especially students who are into more practical fields of study. Students are competitive, it's only natural. The most unique class I've taken was Entrepreneurship, which is a business class where we were actually given some weeks to come up with a business, make money and split the profits among group members. My major/department was the School of Business and no I did not spend time with professors outside of class but I definitely greeted them in the halls. The schools academic requirements are of a very high standard, it's not easy you definitely have to put in the time and effort to achieve good grades. I believe it is the intention of the school to get you a job but sadly I don't think enough is done internally with helping students acquire jobs, yes there are some career fairs but more needs to be done, overall the school needs a solid career services department.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The location can be frustrating, but you learn to live with it. It is cold and snowing most of the school year and the closest big city is 10-15 min. away.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
I would say that its diversity and faculty engagement causes this school to stand out, but the thing that truly separates it from other schools is its spiritual focus.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
Andrews University carries a record of being a very accepting school. It is one of the most diverse schools in the country. This college caters to the needs of several students from all races and ethnicities. Andrews is also a Christian University and as such students are accepted and appreciated. I have noticed that students in the school are able to make friends easily and that there are no real stereotypes. However, people do tend to hang out with peers that are in their same major. Yet, even in that case there are several interactions from people who are not in the same major; people are truly friendly on this campus.
My sister went to Andrews University, and when I went there to visit her, I fell in love with it immediately. I'd probably say that the most important thing about a college is the way that you feel about it. Even if most other things are in place, but you don't feel comfortable, you should take some time to consider your choice. I remember going to visit Southern Adventist University, sister school to Andrews, for a weekend. From arrival to departure, my friends showed me all the things that made their school marvelous. At the end of the weekend, I understood why they liked their school so much. But upon putting one foot on Andrews campus after my weekend away, I understood why I LOVED my school. Because every time I go there, I remember my friends, my classes, my major, my job, saturday nights, basketball, spiritual life, outreach, and many more things. THAT is why I attend Andrews University.
Where is the best place to get work done on campus?
Depends on the kind of person you are some people get work done in the library, some in their dorm rooms, they are also quiet zones in some lobbies where people get work done.
Classes are like this, be prepared to talk to your professors about any questions you may have and they will gladly help guide you with whatever you need to know. A class usually last about 45 minutes where you receive a lecture and then probably an assignment for the next class. Be prepared to take notes and just stay on top of everything that's assigned, deadlines are extremely important.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
100% of students attending Andrews University receive some sort of financial aid.
34% were awarded federal grants.52%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
