I think that Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) is great given what they have access to and what they can offer the students. I am in the nursing program and am the last cohort to experience their MANE Nursing program. They are switching to a new program and lengthening it by one semester so classes can be spread for enhanced learning. ARCC has noticed that the number of students repeating classes has to do with how rigorous the classes are and therefore are implementing the new program to ensure easier learning and higher passing rates for students. While they have struggled, they are coming up with a solution and implementing it to create a positive experience for students, and I'm sure many students greatly appreciate it.

I have been attending ARCC for two years and my experience was pretty decent. I will disclose that this is the first college that I have attended, but this is still a decent college nevertheless. There is a wide variety of courses and majors with an equally diverse community. The campus is on the smaller side, so going from class to class should not prove too difficult. In addition to this, the layout of the school is very organized.

Overall, I think the Anoka-Ramsey Community College is average. The professors are available almost all of the time, the classes are challenging but enjoyable, the arts are considered and are present on campus, and the campus is relatively safe. The food is excellent, there is no on campus housing available, and I am happy attending this school.

It's a good school to start at. People are great, and there are plenty of opportunities to socialize, join clubs, and learn outside of class. Courses are not too expensive, so you won't break the bank here. You can work and take classes to save up for a university after getting your generals here at ARCC.

I think it is a really great community college to get a two year degree or your generals in. Most of the teachers are really helpful and want you to succeed and if you just need an easy class to fill a requirement you could find one. The math and social studies teachers I've had are really great, but the sciences are a mixed bag. Overall its a pretty good school.

I'm a PSEO student and I like it so far. But, I am comparing it to the high school which I dont deem it fair to do so. The college is more of where my level of learning is, I love that it has more homework and is more high pace because I feel like I will always have something to do no matter what time of day.

It’s a great school to obtain your general requirements before going on to your bachelor’s elsewhere. It’s centrally located for those who live in the area. The professors employed there are very approachable as well as very knowledgeable about the subjects they teach.

Overall, this school is okay. It's just a community college with various clubs, sports and activities to do. The building is pretty old and classrooms are small unless you are taking popular general courses or something. The cafeteria food is expensive and okay from what I heard. There is one computer lab that is somewhat packed. The tutoring center and other services are pretty nice and helpful. I'd say overall its okay, not the best or worst.

I think Anoka- Ramsey is a very cost- effective option for college, especially for a student's first 1 or 2 years out of high school. Most of the buildings were build in the 1990s and have been updated since then, and some buildings have been built more recently. The professors I have had are very available and helpful.

The staff of ARCC is extremely helpful with getting you on track for your college path. I have good relationships with my advisors and career counselors to help me reach my career path goals. It has a great atmosphere and a lot of activities to get involved with. I love the campus vibes.

Anoka-Ramsey Community College creates a student focused learning environment. Class sizes are smaller and provide comfortable seating for students. The campus is clean with well groomed lawns and over looks the river. They offer free tutoring and have appealing study areas to encourage student growth. Professors are approachable and eager to help even outside of the classroom. I found ARCC to be an enjoyable college to attend!

The school is a good school, don't get me wrong. The one thing I'd probably gripe about is that, and maybe this is just a personal problem, but the community there isn't as catering to Asian students. Don't get me wrong, there isn't and negative stigma towards them over there and there are Asian students over there, but there just isn't enough to draw a great amount of Asian students to the school, ie. another community college, Century College. I'd just like to see more effort put out there to invite more Asians in.

Its a good school if you are looking for something close to home and very affordable compared to universities. I'm personally going here because I want to get my generals out of the way before going to a university to do my major. so instead of paying around 18000 a academic year I'm only paying about 5000.

Community colleges are undoubtedly beneficial to those who actually experience it. Being a good and involved student throughout high school, I had always pictured myself going to a big university, and was even shocked myself when I ended up staying in my hometown to addend ARCC. I was excited to start as I knew I would be saving money, time, and effort in my college endeavors by staying home, but I soon found that the benefits didn't outweigh the negatives for me. I have become accustomed to feeling like I'm missing out on college life, making new friends, attending sporting events, living on my own, and finding myself. Though I truly think AR is a great school and community college is such a responsible route to take, it definitely isn't the right path for everyone, and I unfortunately learned that the hard way.

Anoka Ramsey is a great community college experience. You feel the professors value your education and are very willing to work with students. The small yet close knit campus allows you to be known and feel a part of the community. The small class sizes and affordable programs are a great start for everyone pursuing a higher education.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If I could go back in time to when I was a senior in high school i would tell myself a couple things about college life. the first thing i would tell myself is to get more involved with things that the school offers, like sports and clubs. I was not having fun at AR untill I started working in the athletic office, and I made a ton of new friend. Another thing I would tell myself is to study, study, study. College requires a lot more effort and time then high school does for students to get the grades they want and need. If I could go back and tell myself these things I think my first year of college would have been not only easier bu a lot more fun.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
There are too many people for how small it is. we have a very large parking lot and when that fills up we have an overflow lot but that even fills up by 10 am every morning so people are forced to park in a business's back lot, which is really far away to walk in the cold Minnesota winter days.
My school is best known for their great nursing program . I have heard so many positive things about the program along with how helpful the instuctors are. It is also known for the convenience with all of the different locations.
I don't think that we can just pick certain kids to attend this school. Besides the nursing program, there are many other programs that will help any student succeedd in the future. I do believe that any student that wants to futher their education would be a perfect fit for this school. All of the students are very nice and helpful as well.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
My school is basically like high school, except people get to leave when they're done with classes, getting involved with the school makes your time there a lot more fun.
I work very hard in school and it seems to pay off. This last semester I finished with a 4.0. I am not one of those people who do not have to study at all and get an "A" in a class; I have to put in time and effort to excel and I do that with every course that I take. I have a 3.62 right now but I am working very hard to get my GPA higher.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
I have been on the Dean's List for the past two semesters as well as accepted to the National Honors Society club at my school. Theater is also a popular club and they do a great job with their performances.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
I don't think there is a single person who "shouldn't" attend school. School can benefit everyone, just maybe in different ways. Some people think they are not cut out for school, but I believe this is simply not true. Learning new things and expanding your mind is helpful for anyone. There are also those individuals who may think they are too old to go back to school. I believe that idea is completely false. As long as you put something into your learning, there is no possible way you won't get something back out of it.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I have time to do so much! The school has flexible class hours that I can make work for my job, socializing, doing homework and chilling out! Even though I am a full time student I get an hour of work out time Monday through Thursday (I don't have class on Friday) and then about an hour or so to relax or do some homework before a 6 hour evening shift at work. I usually am able to get to bed at 10:30 every night because I have such an organized schedual to fit my life into!
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about my school is that I can't take as many classes as I would like to take at one time. However, I think this is probably the case at all schools. Being an older student with a family to support, I would like to get my degree as soon as possible so I can begin doing my part to put the bread on the table so to speak. If it were up to me colleges would offer non-stop programs where you omit breaks and obtain a degree as quickly as possible.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
