I chose Baker University after being denied admission to USC - Rossier School of Education. Going through such a major setback. I took a year to reconsider my options and did extensive research into graduate schools, and Baker University made my top list. The academic programs, smaller class sizes, and academic recognition are some of the reasons I chose Baker University. I am very proud and honored to be part of such a great academic institution.

This is a top notch university. Amazing place with amazing people! The class sizes are just right. The subjects offered are broad and they have a lot of opportunities to advance within your field of study and to get involve. Their alumni network is exceptional.

Baker University is a good choice for students who are looking for a small, private college with a strong focus on academics and experiential learning. The university offers a variety of majors and minors, and students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities. Baker University is also a good value for the tuition, and students can expect to receive personalized attention from professors.

I really enjoyed Baker. The psychology department was very small but strong. I had 3 main professor who I could literally go to for anything even outside of academics. There was always something to do on campus and downtown Baldwin had the cutest shops and restaurants.

I was pleasantly surprised within my first few months as a student at Baker. Until I came on a visit, I had never heard of it or seen the campus before. Soon enough I was hooked. While the campus is small, it doesn't feel tiny. It feels like a large school, with just small class sizes and thats a great feeling. With the smaller classes, the professors really get to know their students and you can see how much they want the students to succeed which is very reassuring. I have had incredible professors within my two years here who have dedicated time with me to ensure I know material which I credit to my success. Aside from academics, the culture here is special. Given there are a lot of athletes on campus, there is a bond between the teams that I don't hear about or see at other schools. We all go support at each other's events and it feels amazing to have your friends and peers cheering you on.

Baker is an small town where it roughly holds 1600+ students, and have a variety of sports and different organizations to get involved in. It's has a high rate of academic success and the people their are nice and respectful. Since attending Baker i have became a better version of myself, and its been a long and wonderful journey.

Baker is a great college, we love our sports teams and have the feeling of being one big family. Baker is very proactive in helping their students to achieve their degree in their four years on campus. Overall, if I was picking a college over again based on what I know now about Baker, I would choose Baker a hundred times over.
Megan - 10/29/2019
I personally would not want to be anywhere else than Baker University. I love the small class size and ability to get to know our professors on a personal level. The town has its ups and downs. It is small and secluded so it makes it feel like home, however it gets a little boring when there is nothing to do or a lot of places to go eat at. Overall, I would highly suggest Baker University to anyone.
Alejandro - 10/24/2019
Small and very liberal college. Very supportive administration with a high emphases on sports and extra-curricular activities. Sociology department are completely out of there mind when it comes to critical thinking and rational thought about the world around us.
Nathan - 09/01/2019
My overall opinion of Baker University is excellent. I love how to class sizes are around 25 to 35 students are class. This creates a better opportunity for students to have a business relationship with professors. Also, I like how the campus is small and safe. The campus is only 1 block with all the buildings and technology we need to be successful. The police station is a quarter-mile away from campus making the campus safer.
Ty - 07/24/2019
It was definitely the correct choice for myself. The campus is amazing, class rooms are great, and professors love their jobs. The whole university is meant to revolve around you and it works out perfectly. Classes are small enough to make each student feel impactful while not too small to feel like an empty class room.

Baker is completely awesome! They take care of their students in the best way possible. Free laundry, printing in every building, free tutoring in every subject, and plenty more that I haven't even touched over. They have the cutest coffee shop and a little grill for students that stays open late for late night dining when you're studying. The teachers are always available and they're super super sweet. They really care and want what's best for you. The students are very open and friendly. The sororities and fraternities are very inviting and familial. For incoming freshman, there's a welcoming night where they have their very own bagpipers play for you like a little ceremony. Abraham Lincoln even donated to have one of of the buildings built. It's the first university in Kansas and held in very high esteem. Because of this, tuition is pretty pricey, but it's completely worth it. They have an amazing psychology field which is the career I'm going into. Sorry for ranting, but I'm super super excited about this school and I didn't even touch on how amazing it is! Thank you for your time.

Baker University has a beautiful campus that will won your heart in seconds. The way the school and the faculty cares for each individual student is amazing. The people here care about our education. This campus has history and that is very important to the people who attend Baker University. Baker University has improved their cafeteria food and their on-campus housing. The small school and the caring faculty makes Baker University one of the best universities a student can attend.

I personally think Baker University is a great school. It is a private university located in Baldwin City, KS. The campus is small, but architecturally pretty. The class sizes are small, which helps me get to know students and professors. I am still adapting to Baker since I am a transfer student from a local community college. The main reason why I chose to transfer to Baker was because of all the help and attention I received from the faculty. My first time visiting the school was inviting and welcoming for me. My tour guide was helpful, and current students were also coming up to me to say Hello. Baker was a friendly environment from the start, and I knew that was the place for me.
Jasmine - 05/27/2019
Baker University is one of the friendliest places on Earth. Upon walking across campus there are friendly faces and everyone says hello. The professors and other faculty members (i.e. Dean of Students, President of the University, etc) know you by name and genuinely care about our success. I have never had a moment at BU where I felt like I was lost and didn't get help trying to find that career path right for me. 10/10 would recommend Baker University.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Baker University is 77%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Do not fall in love with one girl early because they will mess with your life, academically and everything.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The lack of support for athletics and greek life. I'm on the XC and Track teams at Baker and it seem we never get the amount of support as other sports on campus such as football and basketball. Also, greek life at least on the fraternity side is dwindling. Coaches and certain teacher don't support/accept us. Incoming men have the typically stereotype stuck in their heads from the media, party houses that don't care about school. Guys are afraid to rush or become associated with the greek system.
A clear-minded individual. Open to ideas about both liberal and conservative ideas. Must be focused and ready for an ever-changing class structure. Also have great time management skills.
Our school is best known for its academic quality. The classroom size here is outstanding. About half of my classes here have less than 10 people in them. Also, this school is known for its friendly atmosphere. Everybody on campus always has such a friendly attitude towards everybody and it makes people feel very welcome. Also, you feel like you are part of a family here. Everybody knows everybody, which makes it very easy to make friends and feel like you're part of a family.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
When I tell my friends about Baker Univeristy one of the first things I tell them is how friendly camous is! When you are walking to classes People will say hello, even if you dont know them. It is a small campus and coming from a small town it is something I appreciate. I will also tell my friends about how the proffessors are willing to work with you on whatever you need help with. They want you to succceed and to do your best!
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about Baker is the way the nursing school is away from the main campus. It makes nursing students stress about the financial situation they will have to incounter once they transfer to the nursing school.
My classmates are very tight knit which makes the baldwin campus special, this year we've faced a lot of tragedy and it has only brought us all together.
Academics are Baker University's strong point. When you look at the price tag of tuition at Baker, it can seem overwhelmingly absurd. However, once you get here, you realize that you are getting every ounce of education that you are paying for. In my two years of being here, I have never regretted my decision to study here. I almost always leave the classroom feeling like I learned something useful. But, the learning doesn't stay in the classroom, it extends to real life. While in school, away from your parents and oftentimes, the news, I think we tend to forget about the reality of the world around us. Baker doesn't let that happen though; reality is brought into the classroom and that's when the true learning begins. Quite often, school falls into a study-and-forget routine and the only thing that matters is the here-and-now grade; but, here, I have real-life, applicable knowledge.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
