PSU is a pretty good college for the area. It has a great sports atmosphere, ESPECIALLY around football season. Classes are pretty good, and obviously except for gen ed classes, there's hardly more than, like, 10-15 people in your class, especially in smaller majors (I'm a double major in pre-law and international studies and there's a combined, like, 20 of us so my classes are never bigger than probably 5). Food could be better, but when it's good, it's banger. Pittsburg isn't a bad place at all, but you usually have to go to Joplin to eat somewhere different once you get bored of the same ten places that every place has. PSU has some great opportunities. It's really easy to do pretty much anything. I have to study abroad for my international studies major, and I literally met with the coordinator and got my passport applied for same day. So PSU is a pretty good college for the area, and tuition is really good: it's like 5k a semester, 10k if you're on campus. Go-Rillas!

During my time at Pittsburg State University before the pandemic of 2020, I was struck by the sheer beauty of the campus. The sprawling lawns, tree-lined walkways, and stunning architecture made for a truly picturesque setting. Moreover, the people were just as lovely as the surroundings. The faculty and staff were always available to help students with any questions or concerns they had, and they were genuinely invested in the success of their students.
The campus was always buzzing with activity. Whether it was a sports game, a club meeting, or a concert, there was always something going on. This made for a vibrant and exciting atmosphere that made it easy to get involved and make new friends.
However, following the pandemic, the campus had to adapt to new regulations, and the atmosphere changed drastically. The once-bustling campus became eerily quiet and empty. Students were required to wear masks and practice social distancing, which made it difficult to interact with others. Many of the events that used to happen on campus were canceled or moved online, which further contributed to the sense of isolation.
Despite these challenges, the faculty and staff continued to be a source of support for students. They worked tirelessly to ensure that students had the resources they needed to succeed, both academically and personally. While the campus may have changed, the commitment to student success remained as strong as ever.

I genuinely love Pitt State. It's a nice campus with great professors and classes. The student body is also very nice and you always are made at home. The dining hall has a lot of work to do though, it's not great. But the on-campus housing isn't too bad. The tuition is also very cheap and affordable.

Pitt State is a very nice school with a pretty campus and professors that are always helpful. They have several measures in place to make sure the campus is safe and their facilities are neat and clean. Overall, I would attend here for another four years.

My overall opinion of Pittsburg State University is that everyone should consider going there. I loved the school so much that I am going back a second time. I have already received my Bachelor’s degree from PSU and now I am starting my Master’s Degree. PSU’s education department is absolutely incredible. You can definitely tell that they care about you and your education. I could continue on and on about how much I love this school. Once a Gorilla, Always a Gorilla!

The campus is beautiful. The staff are usually available to help students. This applies even if the students are strangers or outside of their department. Pittsburg State tries to find the best placement for their students. The bi-annual career fairs, many extracircular activities, and campus services strive to help their students. The surrounding community is very supportive of school, offering student discounts all over town.

Pittsburg State University is my home away from home. Moving to Pittsburg was the first time I have moved out and lived on my own. The town is safe and welcoming to newcomers. Whenever I walk into a business, they are more than willing to help with anything we might need. Pittsburg State University Campus is the exact same way. Anytime a student needs help, we can walk into any building and ask for help with anything. PSU faculty, staff, and students always look out for each other. Even in larger classes, students can meet with their professors to discuss any difficulties they might be having. PSU is a campus that I recommend to anyone that asks about what university they should attend. It's definitely a university that will fit any student one way or another.

Initially, my choice for Pittsburg State was based around its close proximity to home and its smaller size, however I quickly fell in love with the community as well. Some of the top priorities of the University apparent while attending were student inclusion, safety, and of course success. Almost every professor I had was dedicated to our learning and future success. One of the most remarkable has even gone to the extra lengths of writing an extensive letter of recommendation for graduate school, despite not being my advisor and only taking a few of his classes.

I went on a visit to Pittsburg State and I loved the campus so much. It was so fantastic! I fell in love with the campus and everything about the academics. The tour guide was really kind and the whole day was so much fun. Rumble in the Jungle was very well organized and was truly wonderful.

I am a new freshman and I don't have a lot of opinions. So far I'm still trying to get adapt to the new environment with all the new people.

Pittsburg State University is amazing. Every person there is friendly and helpful. The campus is extremely nice and there are improvements every year. Pittsburg Kansas keeps improving and the heart of the city is the campus. I urge anyone to join our alumni!
Kahler - 09/01/2019
I'm a third-generation Pitt State student, and although it is tradition to attend, I would not have chosen another school for my education. The city, although small, becomes your hometown the moment you step foot in it. Everyone is friendly, and most places to eat and shop are local! Pitt State's football and cheerleading teams constantly win and are some of the best athletes in the nation, and you can almost always see a sea of crimson, gold, and gorillas anywhere in town. As we say, OAGAAG, Once A Gorilla, Always A Gorilla!

Pittsburg State on the surface is highly appealing and they sell it well, however it has pressing flaws that make it difficult to be fully happy. Their Art program is good, but outdated. Football is the priority in season, and their student resources are luke-warm at best. Counseling is preached but difficult to find. Financial assistance and "ease for students" is their gospel but if you call with questions, prepare for an attitude. It's cheaper than other schools in the area, but I cannot say it's worth the money. I cherish my memories and friends I have made here, but my education could be achieved elsewhere and be at the same level of quality. Perhaps better. It is not as groundbreaking as advertised.

I think the campus is gorgeous. The first time I went to visit, I was in awe. The people who live in the town love college kids and are huge gorilla fans. The professors are really nice and personable. Everyone on campus is nice and are willing to help . with anything. An aspect I absolutely love about the campus is the campus police. They are real police officers who are located on campus which enhances the safety on campus. I recommend going to this school!!
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Pittsburg State University is 87%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Kali, you are going to do well as long as you are confident. Remember, a real friend will not expect more than time spent with you, and a "man" in college is probably still a boy that is getting money from loans or parents. Do not give them any power over your life. This is YOUR time. If you try to help everyone else fill the holes in their lives, you are bound to fall into one of them and not be able to achieve your goals.
Get a job while you get your Bachelor's degree. You will meet people this way and not have to become dependent on a man. Do not stop there. You will be secretly ashamed if you stop. Get your Master's degree! You have plenty of time. It will be a great experience. Lastly, do not get hidden from the world. You have a lot to learn about it before it can start learing from you. Are you excited? You should be!
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Our school is able to offer small class room sizes that enable students to delve deeper into their studies. This also helps aid discussions in class, which I feel really help the learning process.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
This is not the best place for people who don't enjoy partying. I suppose many colleges are that way though. People who aren't alright with not having very much diversity probably shouldn't come here either.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
There are only a few things that I think is wrong with Pittsburg State University. The worst thing about my school is the distance between some of the buildings. This makes it hard to get to some of the classes on time. However, most of the teachers are willing to excuse your tardiness if you inform them the first day about your situation. This is the worst thing about the school.
I would say that Pittsburg State is mostly known for all the partying that goes on. Also our school is known for our football, and i'm sure our academic success.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
PSU is so fun and friendly. They have a great international student program and teachers that really care. The campus is small and beautiful. I always felt comfortable there. It is a fun school. I really miss it.
The campus is big enough to see and meet different people each day but small enough to see all your friends while walking to classes. When you are in a class you don't feel left out or invisible, the teachers notices you. I absolutely love the small class sizes, because the teachers know your name and they will help you when you are in need.
The best thing about Pittsburg state is that the student population are really close. Outside of class i don't spend much time on campus exept of sporting events. The administration is great. Pittsburg, Kansas is a college toen, the student population makes up half of the cities population.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
Pitt State has 6 fraternities and 3 sororities. Stydents have the opporutity to be apart of a student organization. I met my closest friends in class. Students in their dorm room do leave there door open. Athletes blend in with the rest of the student population. The Dating scene is typical for a college. if i was up on a tuesday morning, i would be study'n or asleep. People party on Wednesday, friday and saturday, and once in a while on a thursday. My last weekend in Pittsburg, there was a block party with about 1000 people.
My favorite classes are my core automotice classes. Students to study on a regular basis. The most unique class i have taken is a history class on the state of Kansas. The academic requirements are the same with the other public universities in Kansas Pitt State has one of the best automotive programs in the nation.
Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?
for the most part. a good solid 70 percent of the student population party on a regular basis. Pittsburg State is located in southeastern Kansas so there is a far share of rednecks.
