Great school but I would recommend trade school for those who are interested in hands on, BC offers many classes but a lot of them are unnecessary if you are wanting to become something like a nurse or medical assistant

Bakersfield College is a good community college in California. It has lots of programs to help students, inculding my major and program. The school is small but has everything a student needs to succeed, like tutoring and career help. Its a good choice if you want an affordable education with support along the way.

Bakersfield College offers a robust community college experience with a wealth of resources easily accessible to students. Whether you need academic support or assistance with personal needs like housing or food, help is readily available. The atmosphere feels akin to a state school, fostering a sense of community where students are respectful and appreciative of the opportunities provided.
The campus itself is safe and well-maintained, creating a conducive environment for learning and growth. The cafeteria stands out for its quality offerings, exceeding typical community college standards. However, parking remains a significant challenge, which can be frustrating for commuters.
One of the drawbacks is the limited availability of affordable housing nearby. While on-campus safety is reassuring, the surrounding areas can be sketchy and potentially unsafe, requiring students to exercise caution.
Overall, Bakersfield College provides a solid educational foundation with ample support services and a positive campus culture. It bridges the gap between community college accessibility and the feel of a larger institution, making it a valuable choice for students looking to start or continue their academic journey.

Overall, my time at Bakersfield College was nothing more than it needed to be. For my prerequisites as well as my specific program, there seemed to be a wide age range between the students which did not allow for a traditional college experience. Most of the teachers I had were competent in the subject that they were teaching. There were some that, while technically qualified to teach at a junior college level, lacked the skills to actually impart knowledge unto students. Bakersfield College is, however, one of the most affordable options in terms of higher education and they offer a lot of different classes that would set you up to pursue a meaningful career.

Having a college in Delano finally (Bakersfield College) was something I always wished for, because I don't have anyone to take me to Bakersfield College main campus or anywhere other than Delano. Bakersfield College is a dream that I had in life. It is perfect, and they are always happy to help you.

I love Bakersfield College. I just began attending after not being in school for 20 years and I have been nothing but impressed by the facilities, the staff, the clubs and other social activities led by students, the inclusivity on campus of every person is inspiring. The professors are educated, welcoming, and are there to truly inspire. We have a pantry available to us for snack items, clothing, and other things needed and are available to every student every week. The facilities are managed so well. The school is constantly making improvements to keep up with the ever changing technology. Improvements have been made to parking and they are working on on campus living solutions. My college is interconnected with the city and do many things in the community as well as the people in the community supporting the school. Our sports teams are top notch as well as our S.T.E.M.S department. The students are engaged and inspired and always have a way to find a solution to their problem by asking for help from the tutoring department, writing labs, and so many more opportunities to get the support you need on campus. I graduated high school in 2001 and I was very nervous about starting my college career in my 40's. Bakersfield College has supported me all along the way and offers me solutions and resources to help me be a successful student. I'm excited to be diving back into my educational journey and I am glad Bakersfield College is where I am doing it at.

In my opinion BC is a great college. The people at BC help you with everything you need classes, tutoring, financial Aid, etc. You get the chance to meet new people from different schools and you get the opportunity to enjoy all the activities that the college offers you. I personally love going to BC. Bakersfield College was my second option and I made it. I'm so happy to be part of Bakersfield College.

Overall, I would say that Bakersfield College is not a bad college. It is a community college so the people are not supposed to stay there for more than two years, but it I think that it does it's job well. I have been on track to leave after two years and the councilors are helpful if you ask for the help.

My overall opinion of Bakersfield college is that it is a very great opportunity for students who want to stay near my Bakersfield and get the same education for less. My brother goes to Bakersfield college and he says that he likes it and that he should take more classes.he went and registered late because he wasn't sure of he was still going to attend college but they still helped him.they didn't just turn away because he came late. which i think is really great

It's a very big nice school with tons of different people, it's very bright and colorful. I definitely think it's on the higher end of schools and would be always someones first choice. I am a freshman here and so i believe first impressions are key, and the first impression Bakersfield College made on me will be a permanent good one. One i will be very fond of, and unlike a lot of places i am glad to be a student here, and happy to tell anyone i come across, and i believe that says a lot.

It is a great kick-start to transfer. The programs are great but it is harder to get into the programs. It took me personally two semesters to get into the Extended Opportunity Program and Services (E.O.P.S). There is also a few issues with the Disable Students Program and Services (D.S.P.S). It is very hard to get appointments and it takes a while to receive some services. Overall, this college is great.

My overall opinion of Bakersfield College is it is a very good College. It has lots of Great Professors and It also offers a very wide variety of class choices. I felt a little out of place for the first two weeks, now I am right at home. I also, feel pretty good about the fact that other students my age attend.

I like my school, but there is definitely room for improvement. Especially when it comes to the availability of certain classes. I like that there are events on campus and always something interesting to check out. They have the fun part under control, but when it comes to availability of courses it is time for reform and expansion.

As a veteran, the services provided to me noticeably assisted in my success as a student. I was able to get into the classes that I needed when I needed to and had access to some of the better counselors and student body on campus through the Veterans Resource Center. However, most students do not share my privileges and it is extremely hard to get into certain classes. I feel that administration needs to address these issues promptly as I personally know people that have waited three semesters to get into a single class that is required to take additional classes. Because my experience was amazing, my professors were always available, and I was able to get through my two years unhindered, I give Bakersfield College four stars. I hope future students can experience a similar academic career as mine,

Bakersfield is a very bonding and friendly college. I go to the Delano campus and everyone is friendly. The Professors are always available and very interested in our education. The office personnel are eager to help and some how or another they always remember my name. The campus is clean and the students are friendly and ready to share with me.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Bakersfield College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I would tell myself to strive harder and not get discouraged because there is only more work to be done ahead of me. College is a place to start over and finally start working toward what u will be doing with your life. LIkewise, there are many resources that the college provides. Seek them out and use them. Don't think that you stop learning after high school because learning is growing. It may be tough to adjust to the times of classes or the professors or students, but all of it will pay off in the end. Education is not cheap, so don't take it for granted. Stay forcused. Going to school will become a choice but so is being successful. You can never learn too much. Good luck in college and enjoy it!
The kind of person who should attend this school would be someone who wants to get all their general education done before entering a 4-year university. Bakersfield College also offers AA and AS degrees for those who are not looking to continue forward in their education. The school makes a great vocational school as well. The person should be self-motivated and dedicated to strive because the college pushes you to be better than you are.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The only thing I can think of is the fact that there are so many people thet come from small towns out side of Bakersfield, I think they should offer gas vouchers to people that qualify. I believe that they would get more students and enrollment. I also think that instead of taking away so many classes they should offer more classes. I know it is out of their hands because of the state and budgets, but not at the expense of our edcuation and the advancement of the state.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
Any person that decides to continue and further their education has the right to choose that. The kind of person that shouldn't attend this school or any school should be the kind of person that doesn't want to better their education for themselves. Every school provides so many opportunities in life, yet some do not take the time to do the work. Going to school is a job now, there's no room for laziness or lack of focus. If a person carries lack of focus or just doesn't like school then school's not for them.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Whats unique about Bakersfield community College is that it has two amazing programs. One is Nursing and it is one of the highest ranking nursing programs in our area. Then their is the Culinary Arts program which is an amazing learning experiance. The Culinary program is what first caught my eye to go to this school.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish that I had more knowldge about the hoops a student has to jump through in order to transfer from a two-year community college to a four-year university. The rules and guidelines can be confusing and muddled, and if one does not pay attention, one can jeopardize the chances of tranferring. However, the transfer counselors are very knowledgable and will help a student if they have even the most basic grasp on what they want to do and what school they would like to transfer to.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about my school is the counseling department. For most of the students who end up going to community college, the goal is to transfer to a 4-year institution, which can be excessively difficult if they aren't properly guided to take the required class load. I have been witness to multiple failures of the couseling department due to the fact that they give misinformation about requirements and transfer classes. I have chosen to guide myself through the catalog, rather than rely on faulty information, but students should have the ability to seek knowledgeable college counseling.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
Despite the overcrowded classrooms, I believe that Bakersfield College is still a great choice for continuing your education. The instructors there are very dedicated to providing the highest quality of higher learning. Bakersfield College is the oldest continuously running community college in California and I think that says a lot.
