Honestly.. this school seemed like my dream school and here I am three years later hating every waking minute I have to be here. Becker College has lied to me about transfer credits they would take of mine. They gave me a grant but apparently made a mistake on it which ended up making my tuition even more expensive in the middle of a semester. I had to skip a semester because of a past due to balance and they wouldn't let me register for courses. This school is a private school and that's important because don't think for a second that they would rather see you get your education until they can get every single dime out of you first. The staff here is beyond incompetent. I had 3 different staff members tell me different stories about why my bill changed. No one is on the same page there. I have a couple great teachers there but the rest are the laziest people I have ever had to learn from. Most teachers don't even come up with original material most of it is copy and paste from websites. Some professors don't even write their names or the right class year on the syllabus. They just recycle the same garbage from the previous year. I had a teacher for the 2 years I had her class not spell my name right even though it spelled in the email. I told her several times and she refused to acknowledge it. There are barely any people of color that go to this school and it makes you feel like an outsider. Some of the teachers don't respond to emails or get back to you. Overall I don't recommend this school at all and if I had the opportunity I would take all my money back and start over at a new school.

I think that Becker puts a lot of focus into certain majors, which makes sense because they are the majors that it is known for. I think that they should listen to how students feel about how the professors are teaching them because sometimes an entire class may fail a class and the school doesn't seem to do anything about it.

At the start of my arrival of Becker College, it was rather nerve racking and overwhelming. It was such a huge transition from being a simple high school student to a full fledged college occupant, but soon I became accustomed to my environment and everything just fell into place. The college's facilities were not by any means high class or top notch, but it was comfortable to say at least. But what makes Becker College worth while is its staff and faculty, who are very down to earth and supportive of their students. So overall, I believe that Becker College is a good experience and worth the time to attend.

Becker is a very small but welcoming community. Everyone takes in freshman like they're long lost family members and seeks to help in any way they can.
The smaller class size enables a lot of professors to be one-on-one with students, allowing for an easier learning environment for me.
The first year housing is not as clean as it could be, but there is a maintenance and janitorial team that is available by email.

Becker is like no other college. The second you walk onto campus you instantly get this sense of belonging and family. The small classroom sizes make for a more intimate learning experience and the professors remember your name even semesters after you’ve had their class and that honestly makes such a big difference when you’re walking down the hall and your core professor from 3 semesters ago stops you to ask “Hey Caitlyn, how are things going?” Not only are the faculty amazing, but in the classroom, we are taught so much more than calculus and Anatomy and physiology. At Becker, they teach us how to get through interviews, write resumes, work on a team, how to ask for help, how to find your voice, and so much more. It goes far beyond the classroom here and I think that helps prepare graduates for the real world. There is so much pride in Being a Becker hawk… and we, as a community, take pride in helping others. Community service is something I hold very close to my heart and feel very strongly about. Becker provides so many opportunities to get involved and help the surrounding communities. No Impact is too small and with all the helping hands of the Becker Community, we make such a big impact. Just at the three orientation sessions alone, we packaged 33,000 meals for those in need in the Worcester community. Whether students or faculty, Becker and the Worcester community are two in the same and to be able to help and show we care for the communities we live in is so important. These are all just the tip of the iceberg, but moral of the story…I am so proud to be called a Becker Hawk.

I am an incoming Freshman and could not be more excited about joining the Becker community. I am looking forward to making many new friends. I will be majoring in Veterinary Technology and am so excited. I love all of the professors and feel that they will provide me with all of the academic support I will need to be successful here. I am also on the cheerleading team and am really excited to be a part of such a positive and welcoming team.

Becker college is a great school but it has it's disadvantages. I feel that they try hard to keep up to date on the current student life. However, There is many improvements that can be made. Overall. the school isn't bad and the students are great. This is a great school for someone who wants a small (1-2 thousand students) college experience.

I love it. It's certainly not for everyone, but that's why it's so special. 99% of the students here are completely judgment free and are willing to talk to you and be there for you even if you've never spoken in your life. I am a tour guide, and I'd like to think I'm among one of the most transparent tour guides when it comes to my opinions on the school. There is something for everyone here, and we encourage students to pick their best fit, whether at Becker or elsewhere to help the student thrive the most.

I would like to start off by saying many aspects of this school are great. The teachers are very helpful and work with you. My issue is with the rest of the staff. I transferred from a community college to go to becker and my transfer advisor didn't tell me until the end of my 1st year that pretty much all of my other school credits didn't transfer which means i basically wasted my time there. The following year i had a balance on my account I couldn't pay until the end of the semester. They put me into collections before the semester was even over. I work 20 hours to pay for rent and I go to school full time and the biggest problem I have is that when i told financial aid i could pay the balance over the summer they told me that was fine but apparently, it wasn't because i put into collections. I was later told financial aid doesn't know if I get put into collections or not that would be student accounts but if i mentioned paying in the summer how hard would it have been to advise i call student accounts to make sure that was okay. Overall nobody communicates in that building. Not to mention they had the wrong address where they were sending the invoices so for months I didn't even know about the bill but that wasnt there fault even though i updated them when i moved. Im here working my butt off to pass my classes and give it all i got but because of poor communication im the one at fault.

This is my top choice college for a reason! The program that I'm wanting to go into is the Bachelor's program in veterinary technology. The facilities and class size in this major are perfect. There is a fully operational on-site vet clinic open to the public so lots of learning is hands-on and able to give students real-world experience! I hope to be able to attend Becker College!

An amazing college, but the funding is a little over the top. If you're in an iffy financial situation and can't get loans, I don't recommend coming here just yet. I made that mistake and now my family and I are as good as bankrupt. However, that being said, the atmosphere and education is to die for! The classes are small enough that you really get to know the professors, and they're always willing to help. The hands-on learning gives an excellent curve to the traditional curriculum, making learning much easier. Regardless of home background, social standing, political party, religion, etc., everyone is included in everything! Overall an amazing college, if not for the lack of proper financial help from them.

Our professors are always willing to help students and are super available. The staff everywhere is wonderful, especially in the cafeteria. Academics are strong but help is super accessible and the student life is overall pretty good. Living on campus can be difficult and eating at the same place can get boring but the staff does all they can to keep it interesting for us.

Becker College is a great university that offers both athletic and academic opportunities. This college is perfect for kids who like to be enrolled in schools that do not have a huge population of students. Becker College has great food, an array of sports, and friendly professors that are very accessible.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Becker College is 65%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
The advice that I would give myself is to not wait till the last minute for homework and other assignments. This will just be a huge stress load. Once an assignment is given to you get that done right away. This will make life so much easier. Also I wish I knew making new friends would be so easy. I was stressing over meeting new people and having to make new friends all over again and it was so easy. The next thing I would tell myself is since your paying for college you might as well try your best. This is not high school no one is looking out for you except your self. Your future relise on these next four years and you want to give it your best. The last thing that I would tell my self is that these next four years are going to be some of the best years of your life and that when a new opportunity shows up do not be afraid to just run with it. Becasue you never know what direction your life will take.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
Becker College is organized in a way which supports the best interest of the students by preparing students for what is expected of them, offering a variety or courses, accessibility to resources such as the tutoring center and the help desk, a caring and safe environment throughout the campus, extracurricular activities including sports and lectures/fundraisers which bring the students together to interact, offers both a Worcester, MA and a Leicester, MA location, and most importantly offers a high standard education.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
My school is more unique then other schools I considered because it's a lot smaller than the ones I got accepted into. I got accepted to Rhode Island College, Eastern Connecticut State University, and Uconn at the other campuses besides the main campus in Storrs, CT. All of the those colleges have a lot more people. My college is tiny which allows everyone to usually become friends. You will always find a best friend at my college. The professors are people who came from what they did in life themselves. The school is good.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
what exactly I wanted to do. I had changed my major twice for going with Psychology. I feel like i wasted a year of schooling figuring out what is was I truely was interested in.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing at Becker College is the parking. They allow undergraduates to bring cars which is helpful, but they don't have enoguh parking space. During the winter, the snow makes it even more difficult because students cannot park on the streets and the parking lots are not plowed in an efficent manner.
Becker is a small private college, located about 8 min from downtown, it has 2 campuses one in Worcester and one in Leicester. Students spend most of their time in the Hawks Nest (Worcester Campus) and Hawks Haven (Leicester Campus) which are lounge areas form students. The library is also a popular place because there are private rooms that you can reserve if you want to do study groups.
One of the main things that I love about the school is that fact that all of my professors know me by name, not just one of the students in the class. All the classes that deal with my major I absolutely LOVE, usually everyone is eager to participate and interact with one another. Becker offers really great programs like Nursing, Veterinary Science, Criminal Justice, Business, Interior Design and my favorite Legal Studies. The program is designed in a way that allows students to grown and understand each aspect of the law. All the professors that teach the law classes are amazing and they are practicing attorneys, which is a big plus.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
i love how much everyone is envolved, the kids there are awesome and people really take the time toget to know you! like you who are where you want to go and what your interests are in life. i love how everyone is on a first name basis it makes it more personal and home like! i think its amazing how the school is open to new ideas and encourage you to follow your dreams, and not just brag about it.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
Some of the most popular groups at Becker include SGA (student government association); SASSY; Becker Journal; Nursing Club; Ski and Snowboard Club; Yearbook etc. Also if there is a particular club that students would like to make up they can, I'm not really sure how it works out. Athletics are very popular and the basketball team, the Hawks won the ECAC championship for the 2008-2009 season. There are also A LOT of student activities every single day, from yoga to field trips you will never be bored..
Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?
Not necessarily. Any college or university student will get out of college what they've decided to. The quality of one's education is not based upon the institution one enters, but on the amount of effort the individual student puts in. One could attend an Ivy League and graduate with little more skills or abilities then they went in with, however if one is driven, focused, and motivated, no matter where he/she is they can graduate with a world class education.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
You shouldn't attend Becker if your not sure what you want to do. Becker is very much hands on in a lot of its different majors. Plus it costs a lot to go to if your not sure what you want to dowith your life.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
100% of students attending Becker College receive some sort of financial aid.
39% were awarded federal grants.75%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
