What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

That most, if not all of the stereotypes of the dating life here are false.

I wish I had had better information about on-campus employment before I came to Brigham Young University. It would have helped me to procure a better job with regular hours. On-campus employment is very convenient now that I have the information that I needed for it to be effective for me.

I wish I would have known how to study before I came to college. My freshman year was one of the hardest years of my life because I didn't know how to adequetly prepare for class or take tests. As a result my grades were dismal and my GPA fell below a 3.0; which makes finding scholarships to finance my schooling nearly impossible.

I wish that I would have known how to budget my time better. My classes require a lot of time and dedication and I've had to learn in college how to study. This school is more diverse than you would think, and there are plenty of opportunities to have different view points. I wish I would have been more involved in school activities since there are plenty opportunities to do so.

I wish I had lived closer to campus. There really isn't much I would have needed to know that I didn't know before. The school was very easy to adjust to and to become familiar with. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

Remember that you don't have to fit in with everyone. Be patient, you'll find those people that fit you perfectly. Don't try to change yourself. And be as involved and you can!

I wish I had know more about the resources available to students. This would include research help, career advisement, volunteering offices, and things like that. It would have helped to kow these things so that when I needed them for shcool I knew where to go instead of wandering everywhere. I also wish I would have know how much they use the online program Blackboard; it is used a lot more that I thought.
