They had wonderful guides and were able to answer my questions. The campus is beautiful, and is easy to navigate. They have a stunning library with study rooms and easily accessible resources. There is a very positive energy to the campus and its students.

Brigham Young University-Provo (BYU) is a wonderful community for young adults pursuing higher education. From the beautiful campus to the variety of readily available resources, BYU is as great as it can get! No matter where I walk, I see spiritual potential among all the students and staff at the university. Bulletin boards and social media accounts are filled with extracurricular and outreaching programs and events for students to get involved in. If I had never heard of BYU and toured the campus for one day, I would want to fill out my application as soon as possible!

Brigham Young University has the resources and capacity as a great research school with an excellent geology program, dedicated geology professors, and excellent fieldwork opportunities. My department needs to work on pushing more publishable research from students and highlighting this research. It feels like a college town but can be hard to navigate during the big football games and there is more of a focus on school sports vs. school arts and could use more of a balance. There is also a heavy bias towards degrees leading towards careers vs degrees to more schooling at times it felt.

Brigham Young University is a very academically rigorous institution. The professors and administration take BYU's mission very seriously of creating students into citizens who can contribute positively to their communities both physically and spiritually.

Overall, this school has such good vibes! It's very religious (many of my classes start with a prayer, which suits me but might not be everyone's cup of tea:) and there are pros and cons to that! this school has high standards, and the rules can be strict, but if you're looking for that kind of a community then this school is for you!
the most challenging part of BYU is the intense competition. You have to apply for most majors, and in some departments they have you apply for the pre-major. To me, that's a little insane but it builds up the school's reputation and will look great on a resume if you successfully get into your major:)

Brigham Young University was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. I had amazing professors who were very kind and gave me lots of time. I had opportunities to do research with professors as an undergraduate student. There are many opportunities to grow spiritually which is what sets it apart.

I think that this school is great, there are a lot of options for classes and different extracurricular activities, the student life is great. I think the one thing that BYU could work on is to not be so skimpy on their scholarships. I know people that got almost perfect scores on the act and have had a 4.00 all through high school but didn't get one scholarship from byu. So I think they are a great school but just that one thing could be changed.

Though BYU has a strict honor code, there is no better "bang for your buck" with the rigorous education you receive at the extremely low cost of tuition. The professors also are very accessible and care about the success of their students. I would like to see a lot more diversity, but I do think there are clubs and scholarships for minority groups. Provo is cold during the winter, but great if you love to ski/snowboard.

It is a great one-of-a-kind spiritually strengthening university with incredible students, teachers, and programs. The events and activities such as the dancing nights and museums are great and fun. This school holds a special environment like none other.

I think it’s a really good school. The professor genuinely care about students and the students all have similar standards and expectations. The culture takes some time to get used to but it’s a high quality education the majority of students are members of the church of Jesus Christ and it’s a big part of campus culture but it’s beautiful to witness.
Paige - 09/29/2023
I think it is a great school that offers many different opportunities for students. However, if you come you are required to sign an honor code. With that, it is a private university and very religious. I love that aspect of the university and it offers a different college experience than normally thought of. There is a great social life, and something for everyone.

Brigham Young is a phenomenal place to study. They focus on service and personal development as a core over strictly academic achievements. BYU has it all from Football to internationally recognized vocal groups to business teams to cutting edge science programs. But the biggest appeal to me is the individual student. As a whole everyone wants to be happy here and now but also in the future and not just for themselves but for the whole world.
Sophie - 07/27/2023
This is a great school if you really believe in the LDS Church and its teachings. If you don't, you will find yourself surrounded by others of that faith, so be prepared. If you are closeted, I would suggest not coming just as a cover, because that may or may not be what I did. I can neither confirm nor deny. Surprisingly, if you know where to look there is a good LGBTQ+ community. Just don't tell anyone.
Braxton - 07/10/2023
BYU is an amazing mixture of caring faculty with the option to participate in extracurriculars, and beyond the class as equals. I love the balance between religion and education. Accommodations and equality are an integral part of the learning environment present at this university. Overall the school is challenging, yet provides you with the tools necessary to succeed. I would suggest this school to everyone with full confidence, knowing that they will be treated with love and compassion

I love BYU Provo! All of the people there are very kind and anyone there would be happy to take the time to answer any questions you have! Professors always make sure that you know their office hours and how to get in contact with them, letting you know that they are never too busy to help you. A majority of the on campus facilities are student run, making great opportunities for students to interact with their peers. Overall, my experience there so far has been great!

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Katherine, take college seriously but don't take yourself too seriously. Study hard, play hard, and live life to the fullest. Your potential is eternal and with God you can achieve any and all of your dreams. Enter to serve; go forth to learn.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Brigham Young University provides a clean and uplifting environment for learning. We are encouraged to become better people while preparing for our future lives. BYU men's basketball has had an extremely great year and this publicity has drawn attention to the honor code that we sign upon acceptance to this school. The honor code is a huge part of what makes this school so unique and wholesome.
The best thing about this school is definitely the curriculum and the people here. The curriculum sets you up for a successful future. Employers respect BYU graduates and we leave well prepared for the real world. The people here are extremely kind and genuine. We care about each other and usually go out of our own ways to assist each other.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I had better understood about general education classes and when I should take them. My reccomendations is when you first get to school go and talk to an academic advisor!
If you're looking for a religious college setting, a fabulous social life, and a lot of hard, worthwhile work, BYU is the place for you. A person who attends this school need to be dedicated. This dedication is not only regarding academics and a career path. I'm speaking of dedication to making life in every aspect the best it can be. BYU encourages setting goals socially, morally, physically, and mentally. Improvement and lifelong learning is the ultimate goal here and if you want to grow, BYU is the college for you.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I brag about the environment. Brigham Young University is known very well for it's high expectations regarding moral standards. Because virtuous living is promoted here, there is an uplifting feeling on campus and in the off-campus housing for BYU. I grew up in Las Vegas, and can say that the feelings I experienced there were much different, much more negative, than what I have felt here. I feel that I have matured more not only spritually because of the environment, but academically. BYU is a friendly, moral, and happy place to be; it's the place for me.
BYU is best known for the fact that it is an LDS school. Another thing BYU is famous for is its business school. The Marriott School of Business is constantly ranked among the best business schools.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
Sometimes the feeling of jumping into a relationship is annoying. Most people here want to get married and it's common for people to assume you want a serious relationship with them if you act interested as a friend, which isn't true lots of the time.
The general classes everyone is required to take are usually the least favorite course. Even then, they aren't too bad! Everyone participates and students are competitive yet willing to help each other. Professors are easy to reach outside of class.
I love BYU. Lots of people dont. People that come to BYU do so because they want to be around other people who share their morals and standards. We dont want to have the temptation of drinking and partying that exists at other schools. This is a huge reason people come here but then a lot of kids complain that Provo is a boring town...which its not at all. We are 20 minutes from 11 incredible ski and snowboard resorts. There is tons to do in Provo. Bowling, iceskating, tons of sports, concerts, tooons of places to go out to eat, dance parties all the time, etc. Dont complain if you come here. YOU chose to come here.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
Students love going to basketball, football, and baseball games. The dating scene is very involved. People are rarely found drinking or partying on the weekends; movies, hiking, and dances are more common.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
71% of students attending Brigham Young University-Provo receive some sort of financial aid.
14% were awarded federal grants.12%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
