the social life is amazing!!! i party every weekend

I am in Connor House, one of the equivalents of a sorority on campus. The social scene is fun if you like to go out 2 or 3 times a week but you will usually see the same crowd unless its a weekend. Students can leave their doors unlocked, and often do.

Frats and Eating Houses are popular and I definitely reccommend joining one to be a part of the social life. It's also a great way to meet friends---especially upper classmen!

We have 8 national fraternities and 4 eating houses. An eating house is similar to a local sorrority, with the exception of a few things that make it a lot less intense. We do not have a rush process. Second semester freshman year, girls can cluster in up to groups of four. Then they rank the four houses and get placed according to a lottery system. No one is discriminated against, and most girls get their first or second choice, but they can switch after a semester if they're not happy. We do not live in the houses, eating houses or fraternities. They are simply spaces to eat and hold events. All houses have a personal chef and I eat at my house 10 meals a week. Also, all parties are completely open to everyone on campus, Greek or independent, with the exception of a few certain events like formals.

People here are very active, especially becuase we are the smallest Division I school. So, a lot of students are varsity athletes and many others participate in club and intramural sports. We have fraternities for men and eating houses for women. I am in an eating house, Warner Hall. The main difference between a sorority and an eating house is the fact that an eating house is not nationally recognized and we do not have rush. We do a lot with service, primarily our effort to raise money for AIDS. Every year we host our Red and Black Ball, which raises thousands of dollars for AIDS. We eat our meals at the house and participate in a number of social activities. I have loved being a part of the house. It has expanded my social network considerably, and it's just fun to be a part of a smaller community.

"Work hard, play hard" is such a stereotype but it applies at Davidson. After all, we need to unwind from hours spent in E.H. Little library. The 'going out' nights are Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. The great thing about Davidson is that there are plenty of people who do not drink so you're never pressured to participate if you don't want to. On the flip side, if you do drink, you'll never have a problem finding a good time down at Patterson Court.

The dating scene here is basically non-existent, which is definitely frustrating. Most people here either hook-up or date one person for a long time.

The social life on campus is great. The Union Board always provides activities for students to participate in on weekends and the eating houses and fraternities provide parties as well. There are many different clubs and activities on campus, so that one could never be bored. If you want, you can also start your own group. My closest friends are on my freshman hall and in my eating house. An eating house or fraternity is a great way to get involved in numerous ways on campus and meet great people.

The social life at Davidson is prominant, but can be avoided if desired. Many of my friends at Appalachian State University come down to Davidson to party and dance. There are court parties, held by fraternities and eating houses, on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights. They are usually themed and have a great turn out. Every other night, students are studying. No one would judge you for studying on a Saturday night, though.

Many things to do on campus
