I have been going to Del Mar College as a dual credit student for almost 4 years. The professors are very communicative and will work with you. I like that they're always available for any questions I may have, whether it be during office hours, through email, or canvas I am always able to get a response within a reasonable time.

It is a good school for other programs, but not the best in the Computer Science Department, except for about a few professors. There are always pros and cons when it comes to different people's opinions. For other people Del Mar College may be the the best college and while it may have its perks there are a few cons.

I believe that i will succeed in life and do great things thanks to Del-Mar. Del-Mar is very affordable as long as you apply for Fafsa and do scholarships and grants because those will help you in the long run. i am grateful that Del-Mar has given me the opportunity for a great Future.

It was generally a decent Community College, I have not much more to say. A pleasant experience. I hope that people go there and enjoy their experience. I definitely think that for the money and the opportunity it is a generally excellent place to study for an Associates.

Del Mar is a great school. While the buildings on campus are currently undergoing renovations, There are many great places to sit and study including my personal favorite - the Stone Writing Center on the the fourth floor of the library. The professors that I have had the oportunity to study under have been very helpful. The homework can be challenging, but I have found the tutors to be very helpful.

I loved Del Mar College/ I saved money on classes and got great feedback from professors. I loved the convenience of walking over to the Harvin Building for food between classes. I also used the study areas throughout Del Mar College. If you need tutoring, there are two buildings that offer tutoring. One room specializes in math tutoring and is the best in Corpus!

It’s a good school, they just need to work on there financial aid options and lower some of the book cost in the book store. The campus I feel needs more color, and culture to really add a more diverse feeling and energy to it. The campus is really big which is a plus but I’d really look into more Ingenuitive Options for the students to get around and use throughout the school year.

I love the small, intimate classrooms and most of the professors are amazing. The campus is small so its easy to navigate around and there are plenty of day and night classes available. They offer many different programs so there are more opportunities to find something of interest.

Del Mar is a community college and it attracts a wide range of students. They have a large dual credit program that has been incredibly helpful for me. It is common to be in a class with older students going back to school and high school students who haven't graduated yet. The class times are flexible, they even have night and weekend classes.

I think for a small institution, Del Mar offers a ton of resources and classes for everyone from every walk of life. Classes ranging from basic computer programs classes like word and excel, to classes such as teaching and nursing or associates degree in many other things

My opinion is that it is a great community college. The teachers are very nice and accessible. The facilities are nice however, the internet can sometimes be slow. There are programs to help you if you're struggling. The price is very inexpensive compared to other colleges now.

My overall opinion of Del Mar College is this, it is a community college, so you can't expect too much from it except getting an associate degree. Their classes can be a bit rigorous but honestly, you just need to find good study groups to get involved with and stick with them. When I say study groups, I don't mean with people who are just your friends that don't know the same material. You can't learn how to swim with another person that doesn't know how to swim, you both will go down. Find someone that knows the material and study with them. Del Mar College has a phenomenal student success center located right next to the library and the employees there are student tutors which have designated classes they have passed with an A. I went to that place often and that is how I was able to really understand the material in my courses. There are also other tutoring sessions held in the library daily which is extremely helpful especially when it comes to writing papers. The food is actually really decent and is made fresh daily. I’ve never gotten food poisoning from them so that’s a good sign. Also, a really good source you will need to know even if you’re not planning on going to this college is a website/app called RateMyProfessor.com, this website will show you ratings of any school professor in any subject. So, before you sign up for classes make sure you look up the ratings of certain professors before taking a class, so this will help you get the best experience through your semesters.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I would probably tell myself not to stress as much. I am a HUGE stresser, and it seems to kill me whenever a lot of assignments are due at once, or finals are approaching. I would also tell myself not to quit my job (which I just quit). It was a good source of income for me, and since the computer I was using just broke, I am forced to come to the school library to do my work, which takes an hour to get here. This week and next week, I had and have so many assignments due, I literally came to the school every day this week, from the time I get out of class (11) until 5 p.m., just so I could get all this work done. College work is literally a wave: You see it, but you don't expect much to happen. Then when you are least expecting it, it knocks you back, and you either have to learn how to swim, or drown. I hate to say it that way, but that is how I literally feel.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I mostly brag about how cool my teachers are. It's kind of funny, my English class has a lot of acting in it. For our final, we have to act out a Shakespeareian speech. I also like the fact that we have sororities and cool clubs like the Video Game, or Chess Club. I love being in my sorority, the only thing I hate is all the drama, which of course you are going to get when you throw a bunch of girls into the same room.

I loved Del Mar. The Library was huge (four stories, plus another building on the other section of campus), and had everything I could have asked for, and compared to the school I am currently attending, which has a very small library (one story), it was very easy to park at and get around on.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
Its not a four year college, so you can only get your associates. Which isn't bad, but for people who can't move out of the city to go to a college best suited for their degree its hard for them to further their education.
I appreciate the fact the faculty are extremely helpful to you and are willing to work with you throughout your college years. Whenever you need help they are there.
Del Mar College consists of all types of people. There should not be racism in who is able to get into the college. Even though there are universities that have recommendations on how to get accepted into their schools, but if a student is determined to get an education of their choice at a highly excelled college, then they should be able to without any trouble. Del MAr College is not full of just one race/background, there is plenty of different types of people that attend Del Mar College.
My school is best known for our tutorial centers. We have a big writing center, with appointments you can set up to help with any English assignments, or even essays for other classes you need help with. We also have a math learning center with people there to help. We even have a speech lab, which is what I'm most surprised about. The quality of the centers are great, and everyone seems to just want to help, I love it!
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
Before coming to Del Mar College, I wish I had known about online classes and about the helpful instructors and counselors. I just returned to Del Mar College in the Fall and I wish I had looked into going back years ago, when they started their online class program. I have a big family and online classes have made it possible for me to go back to school while also allowing me to continue with my role at home as a mom. I can give my all to my coureswork and to my family.
Del Mar College is a great school. I am full time student as well as a full time employee at my job. Del Mar instructors work with my schedule. Nothing bad to say.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
The average Del Mar College student likes to party rather than do school work. The stereotype is not true. Padre Island Beach is close by but the average students does their homework first then hits the waves.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
I would not say that only certain people should attend because it is a community college and it offers a high quality of education at a reasonable price, however, the instruction is slightly mor difficult than normal.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
