01/26/2025After earning my associates at John A Logan College in Carterville, IL, I applied to Eastern Illinois University. The application process was simple. The staff members were extremely helpful, patient, and understanding. When accepted, I earned a scholarship instantly for my GPA. Eastern Illinois University provides plenty of scholarship opportunities for students. My first semester here, I was informed on clubs and other extracurriculars the campus had. I joined Greek Life and have earned scholarships, volunteer hours, made friends, and overall have built my resume. From greek life, I have noticed that students are extremely involved and enjoy everyones presence. The school hosts plenty of events and opportunities for students to be involved.
Since I am majoring in Exercise Science-Pre Physical Therapy, I have noticed the staff for this specific major know what they are teaching and are extremely passionate about it. The recreation center is always clean, offers gym classes, and have a variety of machines for students. The advisors for this major are always willing to help and guide you in the right direction. I believe that the courses I have taken will help me complete my program. The majority of the topics discussed in my classes are used in physical therapy. The topics include: biomechanics, how to use a goniometer, how to take bp and how to notice if a patient is hypertensive, creating a plan, and overall how exercise benefits the recovering.
The only con about this university is the limitations of student employment. For example, I really wanted to work at the recreation center on campus, but they were never hiring. I was informed recently that you have to apply during the summer. Since it is my last semester at EIU, there is not a point in applying now. The only other option for student employment would be the food court. I worked here my first semester and time off was a pain. They had this system where you had to swap and it was a complicated. I found it to be extremely hard to be involved in my sorority and other activities because of this system.
The campus overall is a 4/5. The campus is clean and there is plenty of things for students to do on campus such as the recreation center, walking paths, greek life, clubs in different departments, sports, intramural sports, gaming centers, library study booths, food court, and school hosted events.

11/10/2022Eastern Illinois is a college that has advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion Eastern is a good college is not one of the best in America, but it is affordable compared to other colleges of the same level. The programs of the university are really good my major is Business and I consider I have learned things that will be useful in my life. The campus is very safe you will never have a problem security-wise, but it is not that big. Overall EIU is a good college it is affordable but is not the best.

11/04/2021Eastern Illinois University is a good school for those who want to be in classrooms with a smaller student to teacher ratio and who want to go to school in Illinois but doesn't have a lot of money. The school isn't bad by any means, I personally like all of the classes I've taken and the people are great, but you definitely are farther away from city life. While the food isn't the best the onion rings in the MLK Union building are phenomenal.

12/02/2020This is a very good school for someone looking for a medium size campus with a smaller local town. There isn’t much to do for fun but there are more things to do if you’re willing to travel to neighbouring towns. The campus is beautiful and there are always friendly faces. Professors are super understanding and it’s relatively affordable. Overall it is a very nice school.
