What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Harper

2am tuesday... Studying or drinking. Usually the former but the latter is always fun. Frats and sororities are a big part of FSU but their importance really depends on who you are. I have no desire to pay that much money but I don't mind their parties or most of the kids in them. Last weekend I jammed with my band, drank a lot of beer, went to the beach, drank more beer, came home, sat in my front yard, and drank more beer. I'd say my entire life is pretty much composed of studying, music, drinking, and girls. Oh yeah and food. I don't have a girlfriend but usually its not too hard to meet cute girls in class and stuff. I've mostly met sorority chicks though so even if they are into me, they're usually busy every damn night of the week.

Many groups on campus are very popular, specifically the greek scene and service fraternaties. I am involved with Alternate Break Corps, a group that leads trips out of the state to perform community service on weekend and spring break trips. Dorm life is very social, with many students leaving their doors open to welcome visitors. FSU football and basketball is the biggest events on campus, along with the annual FSU circus. Dating on campus is largely up to the indivual, with the exception of greek life, in which those members have access to a larger network of individuals. Off campus, there are movie theaters, bowling alleys, a HUGE club scene, many great resturaunts, two malls, and a national park. We are not far from a beach and have great weather all year long!

I would definitely say that greek life is huge on campus. EVERYONE on my floor of the dorm leaves their doors open. It is a lot of fun and I really feel like I found a family from living in the dorm. Athletic events are extremely popular, many people go to support FSU, especially if you live on campus.

I'm involved in the Greek life at Florida State and it is a huge part of FSU's social life. Sororities and fraternities dominate the social scene as well as atheltics (whether participating or tailgating and attending) and philanthropies. Atheletic events are huge, we have an amazing sports program and the games whether football, basketball or baseball are so fun to watch! I met my closet friends through my sorority but have met others in my dorm and in my class. If I was awake on 2am on a Tuesday I would most likely be at the bars because Tuesdays and Thursdays are huge days to go out in Tallahassee with good drink specials and outdoor patios.

Tennessee strip is the place to be

The most popular groups are frats/sororities. Students in dorms don't really leave their doors open. Athletic events are extremely popualar, especially football season. Guest speakers, concerts, shows and performances are also very popular here. I met my closest friends in my dorm, because that's how you'll meet most of your friends here unless you're in a sorority/frat. People go out to clubs/bars every day of the week but the most popular nights are Tuesday, Thursday and the weekend, of course. I usually go to frat parties or clubs. The Tennessee strip is very popular on Thursday nights. If you're not into drinking, there are plenty of opportunities to catch movies at the Student Life Center, concerts at Club Downunder/other venues, etc. But the party scene here is pretty big.

Most popular groups on campus on Lady Spirithunters, Black Student Union, Hispanic-Latino/Latina Student Union, Modeling Troupes, fraternities/sororities and others. Lady Spirithunters is an amazing organization. We have intake once in the spring and that's all. No, most students do not leave doors open. Atheletic events, guest speaker and theater are popular. I met my closest friends in my dorm freshman year and also in my 8:00 english class! On Tuesday, 2 AM I am STUDYING! There is no dating scene. Homecoming is a tradition that happens every year! It's great! People party whenever! Fraternities and sororities depending on the type have huge status on campus. Last weekend, I went to sporting events and went to the movies with friends! On Saturday, you can bowl, go to the movies, hang at the diner, and even have video game night! Off campus, I hang with my family that lives in town!

Morgan

Most popular groups are SGA, Football/Basketball, Garnet and Gold Guides, Lady Spirithunters, BSU, CSA, and any sorority/fraternity. Im in the Gospel Choir. As far as leaving doors open, some people did. Where Im from, people would steal your stuff if your door was left open, so I NEVER kept my dorm room door open.....NEVER. Football is popular. Dating scene is weak for me because there arent many black men to begin with! Met my closest friends when i was living in Kellum and through the GC. If Im awake at 2am, Im watching Family Guy and eating Papa John's! Homecoming and elections are every year. People party A LOT! Although, its the same tired scene and the same tired people...unless its homecoming weekend.Frats/Sororities are as important as you want them to be. Last weekend, I was in the house studying for my anatomy lab test. Saturday nights without drinking......why would you want to do that? I guess the movies, or a club. Off campus, there's church.

Emily

SGA is pretty popular. So are intramural sports (soccer, football) Athletic events are very popular. Our city gets so crammed with traffic on sporting days. On a Tuesday at 2 a.m. I would be studying if not sleeping. Frats and Sororities are very important. They are everywhere! last weekend I worked and went out to a club for the first time in a long while. I also studied.

The most popular team is Football, followed by baseball and basketball. In the more social dorms the doors are left open (Smith, Kellum, Salley). Athletic events are really popular, especially football. Don't move your car after Thursday night of a home football game weekend, you won't find parking anywhere near campus after that. Guest speaker happen quite frequently. Pow Wow (Homecoming) is really popular and has a headlining comedy act every year. The past few years we have had Stephen Colbert and Sarah Silverman. If you are awake at 2 am on Tuesday you are either out at a club or studying. Many traditions happen each year at FSU the most important at FSU is being thrown in the fountain on your birthday. They say you aren't a true Seminole until you have been thrown in. Pow Wow is also a HUGELY popular tradition along with all the other Homecoming festivities. People party a lot but not more than any other college town. The most popular nights are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday but there are people going out every night. Freshman generally go out more than most other students because it is still new to them.
