I love my school, I came from a community college and I am so glad I made the switch! The only thing I wish was I made the switch sooner. Galen College of Nursing is just nursing students, so it is really cool to come to school and know that everyone there has the same goal as you.

So far so good, had a good experience so far with admissions department. Very detailed with what is required to admit. Virtual tour of campus was outstanding. The follow up is good now. Looking forward to speaking to some one in the financial aid office to know what’s expected with cost planning.

Do not attend Galen. This is a school that does not care about their students, especially the working student. They are money hungry, not open to suggestions and they make up policies as they please. It is unorganized, most teachers are incompetent, and the overall atmosphere and morale within the walls of Galen is a joke. If you try to ask questions or get answers about anything policy related, or even to see your exam after you take a test to review what you got wrong, you get told "no" and slapped on the wrist for not "studying hard enough" or "not paying attention the chart on page 362". The teachers don't know what is on the exam, because of their testing committee which makes up exams, and then the teachers are expected to teach classes about content they're not sure is being tested. They make you do a lot of busy work and it is all for nothing. It does not add to your grade, but it does hurt you. You must maintain a 74% in EVERY aspect (homework, discussion posts, clinical packets, etc...) but it doesn't help you if you get 100's on everything because the only thing that counts for a grade are your exams. So full time workers, mothers, and professionals have to put aside more time from their schedule to do busy work that does not aid our learning. Instead of supporting the students when they voice their concerns, the Dean, teachers, and other administrative personnel just turn a blind eye to situations and call it "policy". A large percentage of students are failing classes by the second exam of the quarter because the content being "taught" by the teachers and being focused on is not what is being tested. This school sets students up for failure. When i reached out to the dean about this months ago, she left me on read. It is so unprofessional, i feel like I attend a middle school rather than a professional college. I withdrew my ADN-BSN application from here immediately because i refuse to spend another penny on this joke of an organization they call a college. If I could give it less than 1 star, i would.

I love it so far. Covid kind of makes it hard to not be in class in person and I am a hands on learner so I can not wait until we get to go back to in person classes! Other than that the teachers are always there when you need them. So teachers are great some are not.
Denis
I am really interested in this school because the classes only have a few students. Which means that the teacher can be more focus on individuals that needs extra attention. They only focus on nursing so I do not have to worry about taking extra classes that has nothing to do with my major.

I absolutely adore my school. I transferred to Galen from another college this year and have been nothing but impressed with everything offered. There is currently not an on-campus housing option so many commute from further away. It is more than worth any drive. I am 1hr and 30mins away and look forward to going to school. I would recommend this school to absolutely anyone. Overall, it is amazing,

Galen is a great school that's more catered to the nontraditional student. It's hard work but the school is supportive. It's not going to be the place to give you "the college experience". However, it's a good place to learn how to be a nurse. If the extra stuff was never for you, anyways, Galen might be a great option.
Danielle
It’s a great school, and great people. Everyone I have talked to has been helpful and so very kind. I can’t wait to meet all the people I will be in class with. The campus is so clean and beautiful. they even have a cafeteria in the building. I’m excited to get started next month!

I currently just switched from a college I have been going to for 2 years to Galen and I am beyond impressed. I truly didn't think I would find a "home" and "family" in my college career again but I was by far proven wrong. Galen is welcoming, accepting, and so much fun to be at.
Randi
Galen is a little expensive, but the academics are great including class size, peers, and professors. The only thing I don't like is that not all classes are available on grounds. Also, this quarter they switched testing format from paper to computers in which you can only advance forward. This makes testing quite challenging.
Kelly
There are the most AMAZING professors around. They understand l, they talk, they explain but most of all they hear you. They take the time to explain what you don’t know. No matter how many times to does take. The professors want you to learn it, live it, breath it and even better understand it. The care truly care about their students and have interactions with them. Whether, it be in theory, lab, clinicals or testing; they support you all the way; cheering you along the whole way!! The help you when you struggle, pick you back up and help remind you why you are there! The professors are amazing! You are taught best practice nursing, and are the most sought after nurse before graduation! It’s tough, but it is well worth it...

Galen College of Nursing is obviously not for everyone. If you are wanting to do chemical engineering, this is not the school for you but if you are going into nursing, I highly recommend Galen. Nursing is their main focus and they do everything to make sure you are going to be a successful nurse.
Emma
Galen's class sizes are small. The curriculum is tough and since I work full time and attend classes in the evening, finding enough time to study can be challenging. The faculty wants to see you succeed, so they are always available to help with ideas, time management and tutoring. I truly feel that when I leave Galen, I will be able to hit the nursing floors running.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I would tell myself to research schools a lot more than I did now. I went to the University of Louisville for engineering and I did not like it at all. Engineering is a hard field to graduate from and the classes you take are very intense. I then switch to teaching and I found out after one semester, teaching had responsibilities that I was not ready to take. I then decided nursing was what I wanted to do and it is something that I can see myself doing for a very long time. "You need to think about what you want to do for the rest of your life and stick with it. Do not waste a year and a half going to a big university and not getting anything from it!"
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
Galen Health Institute?s nursing program is very direct, fast paced, and passionate about their curriculum and ensures that students are getting the proper education and knowledge needed to enter the world of nursing, in all aspects.
Due to the intensity and pace of the Galen's nursing program, students are more than helpful to one another whether they are students further along in the program to students who are new to the program.
The Universtiy of Louisville is mainly known for their athletics and some of their academic areas. Galen is known only for nursing which is good because that is their only focus. They are focused only on teaching their students how to be well equipped nurses.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
I went to University of Louisville and I just switched to Galen. I like how it is hands on and you start doing the nursing classes and clinicals right away instead of having to wait for you to get all your pre requisits done and then be accepted to the nursing school.
