Great school I feel like I learn a lot there and am surrounded by great people who are always willing to help. The school has smaller class sizes which is great I feel because you are seen by the professor to be able to easily ask questions and receive great help.

It's a small school in the heart of Harrisburg. The students are friendly and focused on the many exciting areas of study that take place within the school. The professors are always available for help, questions, concerns, etc. There are also many activities that students can participate in to get to know each other, and form lasting friendships. There is no "on campus" housing option, meal plan, etc. There are actually a few privately owned apartment buildings within close proximity of the school, that HU has partnered with, which provides rentals to students. This "real life" experience of being on your own is what I like most about HU.

Overall the school is great but thing such as housing and find a job are not so great. Housing is expensive with nice amenities but not great ones. I've found the staff and teachers to be very friendly and wanting to connect with students but not all teachers are tech savvy and take a bit to get grades and learning done on time. Personally I've joined a number of clubs and have met amazing people who have become great assets.

The campus is full of opportunity ranging from engineering (Actually building your own designs with support from your own hard earned money or the support of the schools financial aid for people in need and willing to sign the contract) to various science programs (As the school also has a variety and numerous labs for biologists, chemists, etc). The community is very kind and full of their own version of an actively and lively life with the city being the community and the school being less of a campus and more of a home or building within that city (It's a skyscraper which helps too). The school doesnt really have nearby grocery stores or places other then restaurants to get food which can be a problem as you also have to pay for parking and will most likely have to travel a fair distance to get access to groceries if you dont get it delivered to you.

Before attending this school ask yourself, do I really want to be away from home and into the middle of a busy city? I wish I would've thought of that before attending Harrisburg University. I was interested in the campus and housing, each has its pros and cons. However, the atmosphere outside of school (and housing) is quite troublesome. Next time you visit this school, watch the surroundings and notice that the streets are always empty. It is for a reason.

It is a growing school that needs much improvement. It is increasing over the years which is great, however, school is very small and should be expanded in some way, as well as housing. There also isn't any sports which is unfortunate. I also believe there should be a meal plan as well.

Well my freshman year was really fun. There was a lot of stuff to do and a lot of freshman to interact with. But my sophomore year, I realized I did not like the school and I was unhappy. The school is relatively small and there were no sports, no greek life. It was just boring. We also did not have a homecoming. The academics are proficient. It is not an actual school in my opinion, its more of a business facility. I realized this school is not for me, I want to be in a bigger campus with everything that I want listed above. I hope to find a school that I can actually get the real college experience while getting my degree.

It's a nice school. They offer a well-rounded expirience with hands-on activities and trips. They also have partnerships with nearby organizations, allowing for students to get hands-on expirience in thier field of interest. My professors love what they do, and thier classes show it.

This university was very attentive with me when I was applying to become a student , once I've became a student that foundation of support has been lost. I have had concerns of my grades seeking help for a tutor ,the lady that is in charge of "assigning tutors" shares less concern and replies late, Granted she has a job to tend other than just that.
It is rude that you are there to assist and barely do that I shouldn't have to remind her to email me about MY tutor. The class sizes are reasonable I feel as though I can focus more because the sizing isn't too outrageous. Everything closes a bit too early for my liking , i understand that is for my well being. Safety is a priority here my first day moving in a guy tried harassing a friend that helped us move in, every since that incident RA'S take turns in the lobby watching activity that enters and leaves the premises. Dorm living is very expensive , It would be more cheaper to live off campus rather than on campus.
I do wish this university had more of a university feel to it , it is very much like go to school. come back to your dorm and study type of atmosphere , I am not implying there has to parties or any other of that sort. Real sports, homecomings , would be very well appreciated ! There are a numerous amount of clubs here , the staff does try and incorporate thing's of our interest. Overall my experience has been a learning of what I would like to see being a student that lives on campus , I do not regret my enroll I will take this experience as a way to do more research on a school before I attend.

The school itself is ok besides the fact that even though it's a "technology" the wifi sucks and the tech here glitches A LOT. The housing they have is 2 apartment buildings the school doesn't even own, and those suck. The A/C is always freezing and clonking out, I know its normal to have scuff marks on the walls but the floor is missing pieces, there is a mouse problem, the trash smell is so overwhelming you smell it on the 6th floor of the other side of the building. The appliances ,breakdown on you. In my opinion go to another school, I only came here because they gave me a scholarship but I totally regret it, rather be in bedt than come here.
Harrisburg University of Science and Technology FAQS
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Harrisburg University of Science and Technology is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Well I would tell myself that it wasn't a smart idea to move out so early. Basically as soon as I graduated I moved out and now I'm back living with my parents and commuting. I honestly think I made the right decision in the school I picked. I'm doing well in my classes and the teachers are very helpful and encourage the students to speak up in class and ask questions whenever we don't understand something. I like that they are also devoted to smaller classrooms so we are able to learn better.
The student body is very diverse. They try to pull people in from every background possible. The cool thing is most students interact with each other and even though there are cliques, the school is so diverse it's impossible not to interact with someone outside of your comfort zone while in class.
Most of the students are positive and it is definitely a left-leaning campus.
The professors at HU are nothing short of awesome. They are incredibly educated and actually take the time to get to know you. It's quite an advantage over most schools. Not to mention most have hands-on and real world experience. It creates a very unique learning environment that is extremely valuable.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
Being a brand new University, there really isn't much student life. The University promotes "The City Is Our Campus" which is great and all - but they really need to work on building a solid framework for campus life including dorms and social clubs.
The student life consists of mostly activities at the International House located a block away. They do have some pretty cool things going on.
The best thing about HU is the preparation for a real-world career and the internship opportunities. The school is great with giving you the tools necessary to compete in the job market.
The "campus" is just a building on Market street in downtown Harrisburg. It would be nice if there was an actual spread-out campus.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The only thing I really don't like about my campus is that there is not much of an oppurtunity to live on campus. Since the school is located in downtown Harrisburg we just have a building, the apartments are about half a block away and very expensive. If they were more affordable I would most likely live there.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
