The worst thing about the schoold would the transportation system that they have in Ames, they are mostly unconsistent especially about the timing. but not a lot of student used the transportation system since they all have their own car, but the students without the car are sometimes struggling to catch the bus since the buses are mostly late or too early to arrive at the bus stop.

The nightlife because there is little to without bars, few places for under 21 to go

If you need to pull out of classes and/or housing, the staff does not always tell the student everything that needs to be done. This causes issues with billing as some of the records still show that you are enrolled, so the University will still bill you. Talk to everyone you can think of to make sure you are no longer enrolled or signed up for housing, meal plans, etc.

Size of the campus, you have bad weather and have to rush to your classes (bus system is good though if the timing is right)

Lack of teacher communication. Some teachers are very hard to get ahold of which makes it frustrating to obtain help on homework or studying for tests.

The worst thing about school is it is big and sometimes my education doesn't seem personal.

Cold winters

Actually this may sound really funny, however the worst thing about the campus is the crows! They just hide in the trees, exspecially during the night and you walk under the trees and they all fly out of the tree, dropping unpleasant gifts to the students walking under the trees!!!

One of the things that scares a lot of people at Iowa State and other big schools is lectures. There's really no getting around it; at ISU or any school, especially in Science and technology, you will be in lectures, and that can be really intimidating for freshman. Most people get used to it pretty fast, but if you're having touble, make sure you get help. There are your TAs, Supplemental Instruction sessions, proffesors' office hours, and tutoring ($$) alla vailable. If you're missing that personal touch, make sure to take advantage of those.
