I really like the college. Professors are friendly and accessible. Class size is not so large that instructors loose people in the crowd. Parking, however, is a nightmare right now because they are building a garage on the regular parking spot so students have to park further away and in downtown traffic. That is my only complaint.

I've had a great experience since the first day I went into the financial aid office. I had just went through some depressing times in my life that made me almost not even want to start college, but I'm glad I kept my appointment. The staff was wonderful and being able to explain my situation with my financial aid counselor, and having her just listen to me instead of trying and run me off like I was just another number made all the difference to me.

I believe that they are extremely supportive of our growth, both academically and personally. They prove wonderful support systems and truly care about your goals and plans for the future. The staff on campus make an amazing team and put their best foot forward for their students.

JCTC offers perhaps the most important thing to students at any stage in life - flexibility. The KCTCS system is integrated which means online courses can be taken with any branch of the KCTCS system, not just JCTC. They offer an enormous selection of classes online which helps busy students customize their learning schedules. Even more impressive is their variety of classes offered on campus during the daytime and evening. So if you don't prefer online classes, they still have flexible options for you to fit into your busy schedule. Their staff and faculty seem genuinely interested in seeing you succeed and have helped me solve any issues I have had. Whether you are just starting your college education or returning to college to start on a new path, JCTC makes completing your educational requirements more than attainable.

It is full of opportunities once you know how to harness them. Accessible study spaces, meditation spaces and even spaces for a quick nap when tired, how cool is that? They engage in so many club activities, these clubs are not just clubs, but they are a family. They help you harness opportunities to be better personally and career-wise.

Jefferson Community and Technical College is a great place to earn your associates degree. The teachers are dedicated, class sized are appropriate, and the campus is small and easy to navigate. The employees are very helpful and are there to assist you in your success.

That is great in love the small classes I feel that you get more one on one help that you need. It also gives you the chance to get to know everyone in the class. I also like that everything is near each other so you aren't running late for class and the library is the Central point. Thank teachers seem real passionate about their job and are always more than welcome to let you come to their office. The school also has after hours tutors in the library which is great.

Jefferson Community and Technical College is a great school, I received my diploma in horticulture in 2002 and now I’m returning for an associates in Culinary Arts. JCTCS creates a great learning environment and offers great one on one instruction by placing students in smaller classes.

I love it here they really care about you and your education. they make you feel special and they take the time to make sure your okay and that nothing stands In the way of your educational goals I recommend anybody looking for a good starter college to begin here where they really care.

I feel that it is a great school and offers various opportunities for learning and excelling. Specifically for my classes I feel that our classes are mostly involved. Except there are those select few that don't push students out of their comfort zones. Which I am disappointed by. I am there to leanr and be involved. I want an experienxce that I can't find online.

Since JCTC is a community college, and a sister school to the University of Louisville, there isn't much to be compared or talked about outside of academics. This is neither a bad or unfortunate in any way, because the majority of people here are trying to get to a university. The need is in high demand for people to solely focus on their academics. Their isn't a semester that goes by that majority of the people in these classes aren't working nearly full time, have children, or are college freshman that struggled throughout high school. That being said, I think most would be shocked how good some of the classes are. Of course it matters which classes you take; meaning if you are taking a prerequisite, you may or may not get a teacher who asks a lot of you. However, if you are taking a class other than that, I haven't taken one yet, where the teacher didn't take their job seriously and that didn't want to see there students succeed. If there is anyone in the area looking for a college to help them get to the next step, I would highly recommend JCTC. Your credits will transfer to majority of the Universities in the state of Kentucky and you will not leave here to your next school feeling unprepared for the upper level classes at what ever school you choose to go to next.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
A lot of high school seniors stress about college. Thoughts become overwhelmed with, "What am I going to do for the rest of my life?" Looking back on myself as a senior, I would tell myself that a high school diploma does not mean that I need to have a finalized map of my life right then and there. The first couple years of college are designed to gradually figure out plans for the future. My biggest advise would be to explore all the different options.
I consider the ease of picking a class schedule to be the best thing about my school. You are able to take morning classes, afternoon classes, evening classes, weekend classes, or online classes. This works out extremely well for me because I have a busy work schedule, as well.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about JCTCS is that some people see it as an "easy" school because it is a community college. JCTCS requires the same amount of work that goes into a degree at a four year college. Community college is a way to choose a degree and begin working towards a suitable career.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
Jefferson Community and Technical College is a valuable starting ground for eventual transfer into a larger University because of the variety of general education classes, the avid attempt to keep classes transferable, and the affordablility of the education.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
My school was, in my mind, the top contender for my selection. The main reason I chose to attend JCTC is because of all the programs they offer. The main program that caught my attention was the ULTRA program. Which is a program that allows students the opportunity to transfer to the University of Louisville after either recieving 24 credits or after two years. Another thing that drew me to my school was all of the on campus help. Everyone is so eager to help you through the processes. It was a blessing to have such people around.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I think the main thing that I could have prepared myself for better, is the expectations. The educators in college have much higher standards. Some are more willing to compromise than others, but it's never to the point where you can slack off. I think the reason they are so aggressive is because they know that high school was kind of a light precursor to the challenges that college brings. College is on a whole other level from high school in every way. There is a lot more freedom, but with that freedom comes responsibility.
My advice for someone trying to decide wheter JCTCS is right for them, should first ask themselves if they are willing to work hard. JCTCS is the first step to achieving a degree in the desired field. Students who start out at community college have a higher chance in succeeding when they get to a university. Hard work in college is essential in the process towards a successful career.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about my school is the timing of some of the functions. I do not really feel like I get to participate in some of the traditional activities that most college students get to enjoy. I think some of this has to do with my job, as some of the activities and meetings I would like to attend take place during the day, while I am at work.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
I often hear about the English Conversation Club. It is one of my favorites due to the fact that you can actually converse with people from all different countries... even continents. It adds to the diversity level that makes Jefferson a strong--bold school.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
There really is no stereotype. I've seen people who were old enough to be my grandparents and students who are fairly young. Old to young, International to people from all across the nation as far wide as Hawaii and the East coast.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
