Michigan State University Top Questions

Is the stereotype of students at Michigan State University accurate?

Denise

Not really, there are parties, just like at any other college or university but it isn't out of control. Of course there are plenty of "hicks" but there are also people from all different cultures.

Tony

Yes, we party. We party hard. But with a gigantic student population, of course there's going to be massive parties. MSU is not purely a party school; we have several nationally ranked programs, the top-ranked study abroad program in the United States, and consistently ranked as a Top 100 University in the world, according to U.S. News and World Reports. And we are definitely not all bitter U of M rejects. Yes, we hate Michigan, but because they're cocky and think their sh** doesn't stink. In reality, I know several State students who got accepted at both schools and decided to come to E. Lansing because of the several advantages students have here at MSU that they wouldn't have in Ann Arbor.

Kathy

ABSOLUTELY NOT!! I do not drink, and there are many people on campus who don't. Also, the courses at MSU are just as difficult as other Universities. Of course there are easier courses and harder courses, but that is found everywhere.

Nico

pretty much

Dave

Yeah, sometimes. We DO party a lot, and get into riots at times because some of us are dumb. However, there are tons of smart people here and you can be sure that there is at least someone smarter than you here.

Jody

I suppose they are for far too many students.

Shannon

No. Every university has it fair share of parties, but most of MSu students would rather stay in on a Thursday or Friday night with their friends and watch a movie.

katie

For the most part it's true, we do like to have a good time up here at State, but what most people dont realize is that we work hard and strive for perfection so that we can enjoy ourselves over the weekend.

emily

For most, yes.

Kristen

Any college campus you go to, you'd be able to find budding alcoholics, not everyone is like that.
