Overall, I believe that Morehead State University is not a bad university at all. The campus isn't too large and there are many activities to participate in on and off campus. Being in my second year I don't think I could have seen myself going anywhere else to continue my education. Not only are the professors wonderful and great at instructing students, but the tuition isn't crazy high which is one of the most common problems with most colleges. So, if you or somebody you know is thinking of continuing your education then Morehead State University is a great place to look in to.

I love it there. It is a friendly campus, and the professors really help the students succeed. Campus is always clean and well taken care of. There are plenty of things to do outside of classes that Morehead provides. I always wanted to go to a college that was farther away, but when I decided to go to MSU and stay close to home, I knew I made the right decision. It is my home away from home.

I have enjoyed my time at Morehead State University. I atmosphere is great and the people are wonderful. My advisor has became part of my family. She cheers me on and is very supportive. If a decision I make needs to be changed, she will encourage the best option for me. I feel they really care about their students. Not just as students but as people.

I like the school but think that the school is not know for their sports or being the place to be on the weekends. Many students drive in and many leave on the weekends. it is very mush a suitcase campus. i think if the school wanted to improve the campus and the school need to support each other better. support Greek life and they will support you.

attending Morehead State University is one of the greatest opportunities I have ever been a part of. Morehead's campus offeers a engaging and encouraging environment for students of all majors. Saftey and support of its students is a major priority of this school, along with trustworthy staff and professors. In addition, Morehead provides numerous academic opportunities such as tutoring, designated one on one hours with your professor, and accessible study group locations on campus. All in all, Morehead State University is a safe, academically sound, and inclusive envorinment for all students.

As a first generation college student, I both knew and didn't know what to expect when I finally moved into that dorm. I can safely say that going to MSU was one of the best decisions in my entire life. The campus is beautiful, many of the people I have encountered are very friendly, and the professors truly cared about me passing their classes. The highlight of my first semester was definitely working at MSPR as a writer and caster of Mountain Edition. Not only did I get paid decently well, but it also gave me a chance to learn how the radio business works. I am very excited to go back for my next semester, and even more excited to go for my bachelor's degree.

It's a small college allowing a good community with everyone. Everyone is dedicated to what they are doing and appreciative of the time everyone gives. The only thing I feel needs work is how the professors go about solving problems and scheduling. Because we are such a small school, there shouldn't be as many conflicts for the students.

I really like everything about Morehead State University. I grew up in the area. My aunt, grandmother and my mother all attended MSU. I've been accepted in the fall, and I am very excited. Morehead is my dream school. I've always liked the area. There are a lot of outdoor activities to do, as well as extra curricular activities to do on campus. I highly encourage everyone to consider MSU as a place to extend their academic career. I love Morehead so much and I am beyond excited to attend the fall of 2020!!

Morehead State is a small town, cozy college; it's truly a "home away from home." The community here is amazing, and while some academic programs are small or sub-par, the overall educational experience is pleasant. There are always small events going on that make the campus lively and fun!
Laney - 09/11/2019
I was accepted and I’m so excited to attend in Fall 2020. It’s a really safe and welcoming school. I had handwritten letters sent to me thanking me for visiting and the staff are so helpful and friendly (especially from the admissions office!) I can’t wait to go!

When I was looking at colleges, I wasn't set on Morehead, in fact it wasn't even my first choice. I had kept thinking about it throughout my senior year of high school, so I decided to at least take a visit. I loved the campus, the small town it was nestled in, and that it was one of the safest colleges in the nation. I still didn't want to leave my home state , so I put in on the back-burner. After multiple visits to the campus, I finally chose to attend Morehead State and I don't regret the decision at all. It's not too far for home, but it's far enough to get a good experience of moving away from home. There are so many places on campus where students can just hangout, workout, or just sit and study. It's one of the best colleges I've looked at and I'm excited to spend the next 3 years here in Morehead.

Morehead state is very quiet. It’s a good place to stay focus on your studies. It’s a place where you can build connections with an assortment of people . Morehead can definitely improve its housing and facilities. Morehead is a small city so it’s easy to get to main places. The campus size is great because you can walk to every class.
James - 04/11/2019
Morehead state is a school that is run like it wants to be the worst but cheapest option. The staff are not friendly, The quality of the professors varies wildly, and the sports and Greek life are both terrible in their own way. If your not in the best financial situation it's not a bad idea but if you can afford somewhere else, don't come to Morehead
Taylor - 03/01/2019
The campus life is great, but the community lacks. This town would be nothing without the college. I do, however, love the togetherness the small school provides. I feel united in a crowd that is not overwhelming. I also appreciate the class size being so small. I feel less intimidated in smaller class sizes.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Morehead State University is 85%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior, I know the first advice I would give myself would be to start taking campus tours and researching different schools early. Options should always be available when one is choosing a college to attend. If you wait to the last minute, you might end up going to a school that you woulnd't have chosen otherwise. I would also tell myself to take college very seriously. College is not all fun and games like the movies make it look. I would tell myself to buckle down and study, instead of putting it off. Sure college is fun, but grades are always a priority. The last bit of advice would be to get involved, whether it's a club or sorority, just do anything to get involved with the school. This would have helped make my transistion to college much smoother.
My classmates are laid back, yet still care about their grades. They are willing to help each other out when someone doesn't understnad course materials.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The fact that school is a "suitcase campus" is the worst thing. Every weekend a majority of the population goes home, most likely due to the lack of activities available to students.
Someone who isn't afraid to be themselves or someone who is willing to discover who they really are while here. This is a small school, so you have to be ok with the small community. It's small, but it's a great one.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I brag mostly about the teachers and the class size. The professors really seem to care about their jobs and their students. This is really nice because you don't see a lot anymore. Its mostly a get in, lecture, get out kind of thing and all my professors have been very approachable and eager to help if needed.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
About the town that surrounds it, or lack of. It turned out to be bette in the end because there is no distractions that would take me away from campus.
Morehead State is known for it's beautiful campus, small town setting, and personal class sizes. Morehead is known for being an artistic school dedicated to helping it's students succeed. Morehead gives many adults a chance at a higher eduation at an affordable cost that they might not be able to receive elsewhere. Morehead is a cultural melting pot, bringing in students from all over the globe.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
This school is unique in that it has a very good student to faculty ratio. This allows for classes to rarely exceed 30 students, which helps with students being able to associate and interact more during a class.
The really nice thing about morehead is that because its a regional university its not really big. The professors always learn the students names and in most cases create strong bonds with them. The academic requirements are strong and students must meet with advisers if they find themselves slipping behind. If you are in the developmental classes complete them fast because if you don't after 45 credit hours the university will kick you out with no chance of appeal. Another really nice thing about morehead is the level of student intelligence. Students are very intelligent and always willing to show that in conversation. The Government, Philosophy, or History departments are all stop notch. The facuilty have a strong commitment to the students and see them selfs, rightly so, as the guardian and mentors to their students.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
M.S.U. students are typically stereotyped as poor, and unintelligent. Due to its geographic location in rural Kentucky, this is easily believed. However, although there is a large population of rural Kentucky citezens among the student body, the students at M.S.U. are heavily involved in research and original scholarly work, leading to grants and publications.
Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?
None of those stereotypes are accurate at all. The school is teeming with life. The amazing landscaping around the university and the constant activities gives anyone something to do. Classes are challenging but very fun and all the professors are just plain fun. The University has a strong commitment to community service and to the service region which it feels that it must build.
What is the stereotype of students at your school?
Some of the major stereotypes are that its a do nothing school, and that you can just sit around and get a degree, but because of its region its a poor school.
The University is just the right size. Its not really big at all, but its not small. The town of morehead is small and there really isnt much to do. You really have to go to lexington for huntington to really have a wild night on the town. The administration are morehead are careing but sadly it seems more and more that they only see students as account numbers. The housing administration are amazing and really care about the students. most students feel really safe on campus because of the constant patrol of the university police. Students have pride in the university and will defend the university at a snap of the figure. The most frequent student complaints always deal with food. The food services are always improving but sometimes you have to wonder if the food is really that great. The university community is like one big family, which I accord to the small community and the level of skill that the residence halls are run.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
