Normandale Community College is an overall good school. It is good for getting in your first two years of college, and I was able to attend as a PSEO student! I liked the teachers for the most part and they were easy to contact when I needed them. The campus is nice and has great seating options and is very accommodating.

Normandale Community College is a breath of fresh air coming from my high school every day. For one, the school seems a lot more organized and responsible. Also, since sports are not a big deal, the arts program is better than the one I'm used to. The students seem to be happier and more calm than in high school. The school also hosts events where the students can do activities or collect freebies. As a PSEO student who's hoping to transfer to a different college one day, this school gives me the opportunity to take paid-for college classes without feeling like I'm too young to be there.

I think it is a really good college to get a associate degree. The teachers care about you and regularly reach out. They want you to succeed and are very helpful. I have been doing PSEO here for 2 years and I have felt very supported through it. I am able to get my associates degree while graduating high school. The class sizes are perfect and the teachers are really good.

It's a great school for anyone looking to lean into a college experience. It's fairly cheap but there are still a lot of resources available. The teachers are mostly really nice. There is a good variety of classes and class sizes. I think if you're someone who's anxious about going to college Normandale is a great place to start. You can live at home while still getting the feel for what the work is like.

Its a great college if you are just starting out and have no idea what to do. Classes are cheap, making it easy to try out a lot of stuff and find things that might get you to decide on a specific major. There are also many online classes, making it easy to work from home within your own schedule.

I love Normandale because it is such a chill environment and is welcoming to all. I prefer larger colleges, so this is too small for me, but if you are looking for good interactions with professors this is the school for you. Classes are small but it allows for more discussions and questions to be asked. Campus is small but food is surprisingly good. They really support their students and help them prepare to transfer to 4-year schools if they wish. Normandale is committed to helping students succeed and provides many resources.

I really have enjoyed my time at Normandale. It is obviously not a four-year college, so it does not have some of the amenities that other colleges have, but for a community college, I really like it. Normandale has class sizes of about up to 45 students, so it is really manageable. The teachers are accessible and willing to help. They also have a small enough campus that it is possible to navigate easily, but it still feel like the school is a decent size. They offer some extracurricular activities, but you really have to know where to look. Students do not seem to hang out much and you can go without meeting many friends as there is no on-campus housing. The school is kind of in the middle of neighborhoods. The worst part about it besides not necessarily meeting people is the parking. It gets packed during the start of each semester! Also, I have heard that the food is not that good.
Gloria
I enjoy attending Normandale Community College. It has a superior, caring staff and a diverse student body that exposes its students to a variety of perspectives and relationships. Also, the classes have proper rigor and are well-organized.
Online classes, for instance, utilize "D2L," a valuable tool for assigning classwork, assessments, and facilitating discussions. Desire2Learn has resources for easily reaching out to professors and peers. Some instructors use it to supplement their own websites by asking students to submit work in D2L.
Normandale has many amenities. An accessible Writing Center, services for disabled persons and veterans, and a Japanese Garden are just some of Normandale’s features. A disadvantage is that the student body tends not to rank high in academic achievement, but this is typical of a commuter college. Nonetheless, Normandale is a respectable (and affordable!) community college.
Ashley
I think that Normandale community college is a great school. The faculty are helpful and I have liked every professor I have had so far. Food options are quite pricey and parking is limited so that is something to be noted. Other than that, Normandale has a great environment.
Rebecca
Although my experience at Normandale was short (only three semesters long), it was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. Not only did the students seem real and authentic, but the professors were incredible as well. The library and the librarians were also exceptional. Although many of the students neglected to engage in stimulating conversation while in class, those of us who invested in our education there were rewarded. I found it difficult to have intellectual discussions with students who struggled with participating. There was also a lot of classroom encouragement to complete activities as a group, which, while fostering teamwork, can be challenging when students don't know how to participate or give unique and thoughtful input. The commute to campus was made easy and accessible through bus services and the campus itself was both beautiful and comfortable, not too big and daunting. Overall, it was a place where I experienced much growth before transferring to another school.
After researching my options, Normandale was my best bet, good professors, a quite campus, nice atmosphere, tutors, good facilities, free parking, really like to study here. I really like to spend time here, for studying and also socializing with my peers.

I am a dual enrolled student who goes to a Bloomington high school. All of my professors have been amazing and super accessible outside of classroom and office hours. The quality of the classes is amazing and every student I've met is super helpful and always has something thoughtful and kind to say.
Jamie
Normandale is a great school for people who are not quite ready for a four year college. I am finishing up a two-year degree, and am planning to transfer in the fall. I have had great teachers here, and met some great people. The students in all the classes I've had are friendly. It may take some time for people to come out of their shell, but overall the education, people, and feel here are in between high school and college.
Camryn
I think Normandale is a great school to get started at, explore career options out there, without being overwhelming by a large state university. Normandale has highly qualified professors that you can access or contact easily online through d2l, email, or office hours. The school has such a welcoming environment and professors who want to see you succeed. I would recommend this school!
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Normandale Community College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Do not waste time and do not waste your money. Take advantage of post-secondary option, take the AP classes and study hard on the tests. Don't worry about what your "friends" are doing or going, they are only focused on the now and have no concept of setting up their lives for an easier future. Take interest in what interests you and find ways to incorporate those intersts into your high school career. For example, if you like playing an instrument, join the band, doing well in your classes, tutor others, etc. All of these "above and beyond" applications of yourself will not only be something you can share with a college you are interst in but such applications will deepen you ethically, morally and personally building you up to be a stronger, more resiliant and positive person. Good luck, don't sweat the small stuff, don't judge others and be open to all ideas and opinions no matter how obscure they may be at the time.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
I can only think of one and that is during the day the parking lot is full early so some of the student's have to park in different places around the campus and jump on the shuttles to get to school.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Even though it is a very large community college, you are not treated like a number, staff, administration and counselors truely care about your success.
Normandale is a very well known community college in Minnesota. It is a very goor two-year college. It coincides with the Minnesota Transfer Cirriculum, so the credits transfer relatively easily. The staff and faculty are there to make sure that their students learn, and not for money like some of the teachers at larger colleges and universities. Normandale also has a very diverse student body, and tons of clubs and organizations for people to participate in. Normandale offers a pleasant enviroment for students who want to start their education at a community college.
My favorite class has been chemistry. The general chemistry class has a laboratory section. One day your in class discussing the theories and knowledge of chemistry. During the labs you get to experience these ideas in a very hands on experience. The labs are also designed in a way to stimulate your critical thinking skills.
I also took a calculus 1 course that had what I would call a lab. Which is something I've never experienced in a math class but was very nice to collaborate with peers and have a change of scenery in a class that at times can be very heady and monotonous.
My opinion of this school is that it is efficient and affordable. The professors here have been very enthusiastic and helpful. If you have a strong work ethic when it comes to studying they put you in a position to succeed. The tuition price is four times less than a major university. Allowing you to start your education without accruing major financial baggage.
What I consider to be the best thing about my school is the people. Being at Normandale feels inclusive because you will find people from all types of life with different races, nationalities, ethnicities, languages, and cultures. These people are also spread out over a wide spectrum of ages from 16 PSEO students to 70 year old contuining their education. This wide variety of people helps to represent the whole wide world in a very small and institutional feel. The people make Normandale what it is, a great school with a place for everybody.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
Before I came to Normandale, I did not know a whole lot about college. I wish that I would have known more about how to finance school, and more about the different kinds of loans available to students. Having more information about those would have helped better plan for my future schooling. I also would have liked to know more about how credits worked, and tranferred, and more about the programs within school. They have counselors that are available, however they did not know much about the individual programs and degree's offered at Normandale.
The kind of person that should attend this school is somebody who has high academic standards and prides him or herself on representing Normandale Community College. They should be a leader, ready to step up, lead, and contribute whenever it is asked of them and even when its not, they should definitely be somebody whose willing to go the extra mile. The kind of person that should attend this school is somebody who's inclusive and has an unflinching spirit of adventure. Somebody who is willing to live up to the Normandale history of action, dedication and higher education.
