Visiting Northwestern University is a captivating experience that seamlessly blends academic prestige with scenic beauty. Nestled along the shores of Lake Michigan in Evanston, Illinois, the campus offers a tranquil yet invigorating environment. The first impression is its architectural harmony—modern glass buildings like the Kellogg Global Hub coexist with historic limestone structures, reflecting Northwestern’s dual commitment to innovation and tradition.
Walking through the campus, I was struck by its picturesque landscapes. The Lakefill, a serene peninsula with sweeping lake views, is a standout feature. It’s the perfect spot for studying, unwinding, or simply marveling at the Chicago skyline in the distance. Even in the colder months, the campus exudes a welcoming charm, with tree-lined pathways and cozy common areas.
What truly sets Northwestern apart is its vibrant community. During my visit, I encountered students deeply engaged in academics, from group discussions at the Technological Institute to performances at the Wirtz Center for Performing Arts. Everyone I spoke with exuded an enthusiasm for their work and a collaborative spirit.
Additionally, Northwestern’s proximity to both downtown Evanston and Chicago offers visitors a unique duality: the comfort of a small town with easy access to a bustling metropolis. However, the campus layout can feel slightly sprawling, which may be daunting to first-time visitors.
Overall, Northwestern leaves a lasting impression with its academic rigor, natural beauty, and dynamic culture. It’s a place that effortlessly inspires intellectual curiosity and personal growth.

Northwestern is an awesome, Christ-centered college. There is a lot of emphasis on the integration of faith within each discipline throughout the coursework and events on campus. The class sizes are a great size too. The faculty get to know the students really well.

I love Northwestern! It's a really great community to be a part of. The school is small, but there is a lot of diversity between students and many different groups to join.

Northwestern College is a great college to attend to in the Chicago-land area. They have awesome healthcare programs with great instructors to add to them. They want to see students be successful and make sure the have the tools they need for when actually going to into the workforce. The college also has many opportunities for students such as federal work study programs to help students pay for some of their tuition costs.

I love Northwestern! I will definitely be attending in the fall! They have many activities in which all students can attend. It is easy to find something to do on any day. You are also easily able to find scholarship opportunities for just about anything!

Northwestern is a great college. The buildings are almost all brand new and we are rated as the highest private college in the nation. Our sports are the best in the nation and it is just an awesome place to go. The science area just put up a 26 million dollar building through donations. That is how awesome this place is.

I absolutely adore Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. I haven not ever taken any classes at this school, but I will start in the fall of 2019. I have, however, spent a good amount of time on campus during activities such as theatre and theology camps. I have also been on an official college visit. Everyone is so nice and loving and they really care about the school and their education and the people who visit campus.

It is an amazing school and I love it here. It is all about community. The classes are small and the professors are all very helpful and know each student. There are always activities to do around campus I just wish it wasn't so expensive. For a private college the cost could be worse.

Northwestern is a place where i feel loved, valued and at my home away from home. The students strive to welcome all who walk on campus and the professors help you in and out of the classroom and are available whenever you may need them. I have grown so much in my faith and overall I am so thankful that I chose to go to Northwestern!!!

Northwestern College is a small, Christian college but still has hundreds of opportunities for involvement within the campus, community, and the world. They hold academics to the highest standard and want you to succeed when you graduate. They believe in you and what you do.

Northwestern is an amazing college with a great sense of community. The Professors care about your education and your faith. They integrate Christianity into their studies to create a better understanding for the students. The Northwestern community helps you to feel at home. They understand that going home for the weekend isn't always an option so they plan many activities for the students. Northwestern also has many opportunities to better you and your future.

Northwestern College has good academic, athletic, and art programs. Some benefits of Northwestern include: the small class size, genuine and caring professors/coaches, extremely safe community, and the thriving job market of northwest Iowa. The biggest drawback to NWC is that everyone knows everything about everyone and word and judgement travel quickly across campus. Overall, I would give Northwestern four stars out of five. The campus is gorgeous, the people are friendly, and there is a coffee shop on campus - what more could a college kid ask for?
Corrie
Northwestern is a great place to learn and be challenged to grow in your Christian faith. The classes are challenging and engaging with professors who care about you academically, emotionally, and spiritually. Northwestern is like a family, a caring and friendly place to learn.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Northwestern College is 65%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Don't think that you can make it on the bare minimum. Utilize the resources available to you such as the library and the tutoring centers. There is no shame in asking for help. The point of being in college is to prepare you for life, and you will live a fuller life if you attempt to excel not just get by.
My classmates are wonderful. The fact that I can get a completely random set of personalities to brighten my day makes me so very happy. I am an extravert and having, as mentioned earlier, a diverse campus has its benefits when it comes to types of personalities. They are hard workers and are very helpful.
The kind of person that should attend Northwestern is a hard working individual but also an individual that likes to have fun and participate in crazy campus activities.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Northwestern is a small college that has a great "family feel". Everyone knows each other and generally everyone is extremely friendly. The only downfalls are the location and food. Orange City is an extremely boring town with really nothing to do and the food there isn't great, but what campus does have good food? Northwestern does approach every class from a Christian perspective and depending on your perspective that can be a great experience or extremely annoying
I consider the best thing about Northwestern College is it's size. It is small enough that most of your professors know you, and big enough where you can have a large network of friends.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
Northwestern College is a progressive, all-enveloping, close-knit community that strives for academic excellence and serving the needs of each and every student.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
It tends to be conservative at times. It is reformed religion, and sometimes, I think it gets caught in the politics of running a school and also being associated with a church.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
Currently, the most frustrating thing is that some of the professors are not very stable. One professor has canceled meetings at the last moment and has handed out major, important paperwork that was unknown to the students with only two weeks left in the quarter. It has been frustrating but has taught me to be on top of things and to make sure that everything else is done so that when these surprises come up, they are easily handled.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
A person that wants to skip classes and still pass the class. To go to this school you have to work for your grade, it is not easy here to bs your way through.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
