When I began my college search, I had in my mind that I wanted a small, private, liberal arts university far from home. When I found Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, and was accepted after early application, I stopped my search and thought it was the only place for me. What I didn't know was that I was letting my pride get in the way of my college search. My pride led me to Furman, not any other part of me. After transferring to The Ohio State University, I've found acceptance academically, socially, and emotionally. Although a big transition from Furman, Ohio State has proven to be the place for me. So far at Ohio State, I have had educational experiences that will undoubtedly help me with my future endeavor of law school. Socially, the diversity at Ohio State is what thrills me. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories: Ohio State definitely has enough students to keep me entertained. Emotionally, I'm surrounded by close friends that care for me but am living in a large city to which I can escape when I need alone time.

I have the great opportunity to attend one of the largest campuses in the nation, The Ohio State University. While the great number of students and the long walks a buckeye takes everyday may be daunting to some, I love every minute of it. There are so many different types of people I come across everyday that I wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet otherwise. I get to see so many different cultures and try to understand how they view the world. If I chose another college other than the Ohio State University, I don't think I would be so culturally immersed. Yes, many other colleges have many different cultures like Ohio State, but there is a feeling of unity that runs throughout all students here. There's no other feeling like it, knowing that there are so many students that feel the same way that I do about our connection to this wonderful school.

mostly everybody will say their independence which is valuable to me because i get to make some decisions which might affect my life but as a responsible individual like me, my actions will affect my life possitively.

The thing I have learned the most out of my college experience is that connecting with people is one of the most rewarding aspects of life. Whethering you are connecting to people because of networking, school work, casual interests, or even cordial conversation, the values and perspects you take in stick with you for a lifetime. One example is one my roommates from the dorms my sophmore year in college. He was born and raised in Japan and coming here my roommates and I was able to learn aspects of Japanese culture and he was able to learn aspects American culture as well. Even to this deal we keep in contact with him despite the fact he is living back in Japan. Building relationships and friendships is the most valuable aspect of college I have experienced and learned.

From my college expirence I have rediscovered the joy and satisfaction of learning. College has helped me to develop a healthy social life, including the development of understanding emotional situations in my personal life. My interest in science has grown, with the chance I was given to work in a research lab and to present thses findings this summer at Indiana University-Purdue University. Leading to the oppurtunity to view all career options in hospitals and the chance for an internship. This has given me the confidence to take on a "leader" rule more often during class, plus the ability to do my best at work. With handling my schdule and doing my work properly I have even been asked to consider a Assitant Manger role at my job.

Out of my college experience I have gained knowledge in general education fields, learned many time management skills, how to work as a team, and have gained a better understanding of the engineering industry. It has been valuable for me to attend college because I have gained better insight pertaining to my future occupation. At first, I was in love with the guitar and had dreams to become a professional performer. After a few years I changed my major to Aerospace Engineering with hopes that this technical degree would aid me in the selection of becoming a Pilot for the Navy. Now I am attending the Ohio State University and pursuing my goal of becoming a Commercial Airline Pilot. If I had not attended college, I would have never realized that my true desire was to become a Commercial Airline Pilot. From my college experience, I have obtained the skills necessary to achieve my goal of becoming a Commercial Airline Pilot. With focus, hard work, determination, and time management skills, I have become closer to achieving my dreaml of Commercial Airline Pilot.

My college experience has exposed me to new modes of thinking and a wide variety of new opinions. The professors at OSU are extremely knowledgable, and most of them are published authors in their fields. Learning from the nation's leading scholars is not only exciting, but also very beneficial for one's personal development. I always knew that college was really my only option, but I'm so glad that I chose to come to Ohio State. Attending college is one of the most important decisions in life, and it is usually the correct decision (for most people). I cannot imagine not attending college--just think of all the things I wouldn't know, of all the amazing experiences I never would have had.

Throughout my life, I have been fortunate enough to have the support of my parents. My father has always told me that I didn't need to worry about the hardships of life, all I had to do was stay in school and get good grades. Entering college, I realized how sheltered I had been. Reality hit me hard when I realized how much I had depended on my parents for every piece of my life. As hard as I tried, being independent didn't come easy. There were so many other things to consider- like my future. College has been the time where I've learned that life isn't about finding yourself, or who you really are, it's about creating yourself. It's about creating the person you want to become in the world and fulfilling that dream. College has shown me how hard I need to work in order to accomplish the goals that I have and the person that I want to be in my life. It has shown me the sacrifices my parents have made to be successful and how much I want to do the same. To achieve for success.

My college experience was valuable because of the interest that I took in my own education. I majored in applied health and had the privilege of completing a clinical research course where I presented a cadaver dissection to the class. I also received several scholarships which motivated me to work even harder in my studies. One scholarship I received, the science scholar award from my school, made it possible to present a study on neuroscience to both Vancouver and San Diego. I am now pursuing studies in radiology and enjoying every moment of my academic journey. College is a tremendously valuable experience and I recommend it to anyone wanting to get in the game.

During my search for the quintessential college, I remember hearing so many people say that more than half of the things you learn in college are outside of the classroom. As annoying and confusing as that was to hear, I've found that they were all completely right. I remember hearing that " you really have to learn how to manage your time". In my experience, that's clearly translated to having to learn to juggle study time with working out with hanging out with friends with clubs, hobbies, community service, a job, etc. On top of all that, getting 8 hours of sleep in can be a huge challenge! As exhausting as it is, you realize somewhere along the line that life really is what you make it. Each day can be a struggle to squeeze as many activities into your schedule as possible for the sake of your resume, or you can just go out there and create experiences for yourself that make you smile when going to bed at night and excited to jump out of bed each morning. Ohio State offers so many experiences, it's impossible to regret having chosen it as the best for me.

College is an experience in itself. I am a psychology major, and will be transferring to NAU in the fall for my bachelors in psychology. What I am taking with me is new knowledge about the world of psychology, and it has been valuable for me to attend due to the fact that I am also not just attending classes, but I am now able to attend seminars pertaining to my school work, which will help me be a more efficient psychologist.

For me, my most valuable college experience would be through the volunteering and community service activities. For example, volunteering in the medical center provides me vaulable future career experience. The community service activities that I am a part of also allow me to be involved with not only other students but also with the Columbus community as a whole. We do activities such as cleaning up the streets around Columbus or helping with the Columbus marathon. There are a ton of volunteers needed and throughout my college career it is the best time to accomplist some of these.

My college experience has helped me grow and develop in ways I could never have imagined. I came to college with an extremely limited view of the world and could not have expanded that view without the help that I received from my professors and fellow students. While college has been challenging, I cannot overestimate how much I have learned through the challenges both socially and academically. College is a brand new beginning and a chance to hone into the subjects you enjoy and the talents you possess. Ohio State has gone above and beyond being a simply a catalyst to developing my skills and passions; it has become one of my passions altogether. I can honestly say that the person I am today and the person I was when I began are two completely different people.

At my University, the effort I put into my education and social life is multiplied in the benefits I receive from my hard work. All the while, I gain great experiences that I will never forget. In regards to my education, I learned passion towards my majour from my professors. They gave me the confidence and knowledge to actually make a difference. With each class I take, I become more prepared for my future. In regards to my social life, I am actually starting to express my true self to others. I am able to make great friends and create amazing memories with them every day. I am never going to have these opportunities again, and I am glad that I am here at OSU to experience them.

Depression hit me hard at the start of college. Whether it was genetical or an imbalance in chemicals in my brain, it doesn't matter. I can safely say that had I not attended OSU, I most likely would have killed myself. OSU and the organizations involved allowed me to grow and learn. Joining the only Asian fraternity at OHIO, Pi Delta Psi, facilitated me to become a better person. Through deeper thinking and a wide social network, I cured myself of depression. But this hardship was necessary as it taught me to focus on others more than myself. OSU taught me to become selfless. OSU taught me how to become a leader. There is a reason why I am not the only person here and there are so many students around me. With the wide variety of personalities and people at OSU, my college experience has shown me how to communicate and use the social network to my advantage. Without the wide variety of personalites, of leaders at OSU, I may easily be dead right now. No other student at any other college can say this. I trust my peers. I trust my proffessors. I trust OSU.

Many people go to college to receive and education that will hopefully give them skills to do their intended career. I think what most people do not realize is the amount learned, not from the costly textbooks, by interacting with others. Meeting new people has made me learn some valuable lessons. I have learned how to communicate with others who are different than myself. Up until college, I lived in the same bubble of people who had similar beliefs, experiences and socioeconomic backgrounds. Through my time at Ohio State, I have learned that not everyone is the same and more importantly, that is perfectly okay to be different. I will be able to take away from my college experience a new self confidence and respect for others. These are both tools that are necessary to succeed in the real world. While these understandings do not come about overnight, I am just glad they do not include 'experience' on my tuition bill.

Chris

The college experience has caused me to manage both my finances and my time in a way that I never thought would be worthwhile. Also being able to meet new friends and hang out whether it was doing homework or lifting has been awesome.

After high school I applied to Ohio State and Case Western Reserve University. To me, academics were the most appealing characteristic of a school. This led me to choose the prestigious Case Western Reserve University. I worked hard and earned good grades at Case, but didn’t feel that I fit in with all the "smart kids". Second semester I transferred to Ohio State. I feel that at OSU, I found my true home. OSU offers excellence in academics, especially in my major of Engineering. Not only were academics attractive, but the social aspect of the school is great. I became involved in basketball, soccer, and flag football intramurals, and this fall I joined the club soccer team and became an officer in Roller Blade Club. Through my experiences at OSU I have found that academics are not the only important thing people should get out of college; it is important to get involved, meet new people, experience different cultures, and try your best at everything you do. College is a time to learn about yourself through life experience and trial and error, and in the end, this is what will help you decide your future.

I have grown so much as a person and as a student since starting college. I have been presented with opportunities here that would have been impossible at home, to meet people and experience events and material that I would never have been exposed to otherwise. College has challenged me in many ways to look at things in a new light and to challenge myself to ask the hard questions and be open to whatever answers come my way. I have made valuable connections with both students and faculty at Ohio State and have recently scored an internship with the Ohio Department of Homeland Security, an opportunity I could not have gotten anywhere else, one that is highly valuable and highly relevant to my future career plans. Since starting college I have discovered a lot about myself and because of OSU's size I have been able to explore my options and change my mind various times as I worked my way toward finding something I love. Attending Ohio State was one of the best decisions I have made and I would do it again any day.

I have gotten many important factors out of my college experience, all relating to education and life. I have learned how to live on my own, how to be more independent and successful surviving in the world "out there," and living everyday life without being helped all the time like I did back in high school. Also I have gained more knowledge in core classes of the subjects I've studied compared to grade school, because the method of learning in college is enitrely different than grade school. Thanks to this entirely different method, I am way more motivated and up for self-learning than I was just a year or two ago. Also, since I choose what I want to major in and I choose what I want to study helps me focus more on the task I have, because I know that what I do now will truely map out my future. It is very valuable and important to attend college, because it will shape up your individual mind and it will map out your future. You will always use your college experience throughtout your life, because college is what makes your life.
