What is the stereotype of students at Temple University? Is this stereotype accurate?

Temple University is full of stereotypes...in a good way! There is literally every type of person on this campus. Hipsters, athletes, Greek men and women, foreign students, artists, mathletes, you name it, we have it. This is one of the reasons Temple is such a great place to go. No matter what you interest or way of life, you are bound to find a group of people who you fit in with. Also, it makes college more interesting because you never surrounded by the same people. It is definitely an awesome and unique way to become cultured.

At Temple University, there are so many different types of stereotypes floating around campus, generally pertaining to what [the student] is involved in. If [the student] is involved in sports, more specifically, football or basketball, they are essentially jocks; though, the "frats" are fairly well - known around campus as well. If you are in a "frat," you will be known as a "frat" kid. Think of a typical stereotype universally used, and I guarantee that it could be found on Temple's campus, somewhere.

There is no stereotype of the students because the school is very diverse

Stephen

There are too many students for there to be any stereotype of all Temple students. Temple is very diverse and I don't feel as if I have ever been stereotyped.

Temple University is located in North Philadelphia, which is an area that has a pretty bad reputation for not being the safest of areas. Temple is also known for having an extremely diverse student body, and therefore many racial minorities. These two factors give Temple students a reputation for being "ghetto." While North Philly is no Society Hill, our student body is in fact very diverse, and students have been extremely successful in all areas. The campus is extremely safe and well lit, but when you go too far off campus at night you take your own chances. I would not say that the stereotype is entirely accurate.

There is a stereotype that many of the students at Temple didn't get into more prestigious colleges and will most likely become 5th years seniors.

Tara

The stereotype for Temple kids is that they love to party. This is true to an extent. I was placed in a dorm last year with three other girls. One was a partier like myself. The other two were more quiet and conserved. On my floor, there were definitely an array of people that partied, smoked, joined frats and sororities, and just sat in the room. Temple has great parties, but you can also find a great tech center if you are the type of person that wants to spend their Friday night catching up on homework. Over all, there is a pretty good mix of races here too.

You'll be hard pressed to find any sort of stereotypical student at Temple. Every student seems to have their own identity. Jocks, frat kids, stoners, geeks, artists, gamers, musicians, skaters, punks, goths, black, white, indian, asian, latino, you name it, we got it. With 25,000 undergrads, you're sure to find a place at the Diversity University.
