A typical stereotype is that Temple University is ghetto and the school is for kids that couldn't get into a bigger school. This is the farthest from the truth. I transferred into Temple in my Sophomore year and was amazed how wrong I actually was in my own personal stereotypes. I am in Fox Business school and was blow away how competitive and fast paced it is. I came from a private university, and Temple blew away my other school in toughness and how much I have learned. I have seen kids transfer in from Penn St, West Chester, Pitt, etc. And every single one of them gets a brand new opinion of the school and how good it is the first day they are there. Now for the ghetto part. Temple is considered the most diverse school in the country, period. There is people from all over the world, kids with all kinds of background, and difference among peers everywhere you look. Some may think that is bad, but why? I have experienced a culture at Temple unlike any other and I would not change that for the world.

You can find any type of personality on campus at Temple but we do have a lot of skinny jean wearing, gauge pierced hipsters on campus. However, they just add to the vibrancy of campus. I love walking to class watching people playing music or strolling by a bunch of guys petitioning to stop violence against women. You will definitely be able to find a group to fit in with here no matter what you're in to.

There are stereotypes regardless of where you will go. At TU there are plenty, some true and some false, but we are no different in that sense from any other campus.
