Patrick

I have learned more about time management than anything. Also, I have been put in many uncomfortable situations, which happens in the real world with an alarming amount of frequency. College has prepared me for how to react to situations in which I am uncomfortable.

I learned that college is very challenging, it is also different from high school, the work, the professors, and class sizes. With my experience in college, I've been able to overcome the challenges of tediuos homework, and gain focus on the important facts in life. Instead of having "fun", I would read books to stay on task for my history class, which was a pain for me this year. When mid semester grades were given, I had a D in my history class, from that day on I made my goal in that class to receive a B or higher. I had a setback later in the semester I received an extremely low grade on a quiz. At the end of the semester i passed the rest of the quizzes with 85 and above grades, and I only missed one point in my final exam, so I received a B as my final grade. Attending college is a great experience, the challenges you face during your college experience will assist you in future problems. It also gives you hope for the future and becoming independent.

As a married mom of three kids going back to school is fun, educational and sometimes challenging. I have learned that even when things get stressful or seem too tough, that I have the drive and desire to keep going. Since I didn't finish college right out of high school it has been an amazing adventure for me to be able to go back to college at a later age in life. Attending college now, at age 32, has been so valuable to me for many reasons. One of those reasons is that it has allowed me to learn so much about myself, knowing that I can balance school, work and a family. I have learned that I have a passion and a desire to learn that I didn't know existed in me until I started taking classes again. However, the most valuable thing I have learned from attending college now is teaching my children that it's never to late to finish what you start and though obstacles may come and go in life, your education will be the foundation of many great things to come.

I have been able to find a really good group of guys on the A & M cycling team. Everyone is super nice and everyone is out there to have fun. The cycling team has taken me to some stunningly picturesque places to ride my bikes and the experiences and laughter I have shared with them quickly forged my friendships with everyone on the team. If I didn't have the cycling team, I would a completely different and probably very unhappy person. I am going to remember camping out with my friends and telling stories more than I will remember the most recent formula I had to memorize. The experiences are what I treasure most and what I will remember the most.

I have gotten a much need direction in my life from my college experiance. I know what I need to do in order to be where I want to be in the next 10 years. Without this college experiance I would have been stumbling though life like I have been in highschool. I have a better grasp for the amount of time and effort I need to put in something to be successful one day. College was vaulable for me to attend because without it I would not have a starting point for going into a field/ industry. I am going to continue attending college not just to learn the the raw skill required in my desired field, but to obtain the wisdom of my professors, prep myself for my derised industry, and make connections with people I wouldn't met in my parent's hometown.

I am from a relatively small, conservative town in Texas. If there is one thing I have gotten out of my college experience, it would be that I have gotten away from home and stepped out into a world of opportunities and diversity. Texas A&M has offered me the chance to meet many new people, and through its strong traditions, has allowed me to form an unexplainable comradery with these people. My college has not only given me the opportunity to receive one of the finest educations in the world, but to form friendships and meet different types of people from all over the world. The price of tuition seems small when compared to the opportunity of exposing myself to different cultures and ideas formed by many different people from different nations. It has changed my life and opened my eyes to see that the world is full of different types of people, each with individual ideas and opinions that collectively make the world a successful network of interaction.

My college experience has been unlike most others, came to the school with other friends from high school and have stuck with them ever since. I have also found new friends through different organizations. It has been valuable for me becuase it opened my eyes to a different perspective on things such as global warming. I first enrolled through the College of Geosciences but have since transferred to the College of Architecture. By doing so, I have still kept my love for weather and nature but have focused on Housing and Community Development. Through such things as urban sprawl and mixed use development, I have seen how my city is trying to attract residents back in the inner city and create an attractive downtown social life.

On my first day as a college freshman I had several fears, the first one was that I would get lost in the school, the second one was that I would not know anyone there, and that I would have problems meeting new people and making friends, and that last one is that I would not be able to cut it academically. To begin with one my first day at college my first fear is that I would get lost on campus. But after a couple of days this fear began to go away, as I learned my way around the campus. I was afraid that I would not have anyone in class that I knew, and that I would not be able to make new friends fast. However after about four or five weeks, I began to get used to everyone, and began to open up to try and make new friends. Lastly, I begin to do well academically too.Why has it been valuable for me to attend college? It gave me the audacity, that I can face any innovative environment challenges in my future.

My college experience prepared me for building and nourishing not only personal and professional relationships, but reinforced my passion and for community involvement and service orientated habits. My college experience developed a strong foundation of confidence and pride in my relevant knowledge and tactical skills to be developed in the growth of my career and professional growth. Ambition, while a necessity, will only lead a person to their aspirations and possibiities. Determination and action need to be implemented to the one's fullest potential, as well as consistently continued to be developed and strengthed upon. My experience at Texas A&M University and my personal influences have instilled the valuable drive and a work ethic of a life-long learner that has allowed me to achieve and succeed in my past, present and future goals throughout my professional growth.

Since I have been studying at Texas A&M University I have truly learned a great deal about myself. At first I was attending the college for all the wrong reasons. Fraternity parties and football games were all that occupied my mind and interests. As a result of my chosen priorities, my fist semester GPA was a disaster. I undoubtedly thought that I was going to be kicked out of the University and asked to never return. After a well needed fall break I returned for my spring semester with all of my ducks in a row. I bought a planner and began to put all my important dates in it. I spent countless hours of my weekends in the library and I learned what it meant to work hard for a good grade. My second semester at Texas A&M I finished with a satisfied 3.8 GPA. Overall this has been a coming of age experience, as it has prepared me more for the real world than anything ever has. I have learned what it means to be efficient, on time and well prepared.
