Arveen

Students here are open minded and outgoing. The half of the students who actually attends class are friendly and interesting. Basically everyone will talk and socialize with you if approach them. Unlike the stereotype for high school students, there is no aggression that occurs. No name calling, no harassing, no bullying, and everyone is just here for the sake of college experience.

We are a school that embraces all people. We are the most diverse UC campus and one of the most diverse universities in the nation, and UCR takes pride in that. We were the first UC campus to have a LGBTQ center on campus, as well as actively work together to create awareness about LGBTQ issues. I'm not saying that everyone is best friends, but everyone has a place where they can feel at home. And I like to think that everyone is respected on campus.

UCR is known to be diverse; therefore, its's easy for anyone to find his or her "group". The students are mostly middle class. It will be difficult for a student to feel out of place because everybody is different so in that way we all fit in. There's a good interaction between different students. Students wear whatever they like. Some like to dress up, some only wear sporting outfit...everybody wear whatever. The majority of students are from Riverside or near. UCR is predominantly left. There is always an attempt to be politically active as a school but it's not as big as UCLA's or UC Berkeley's. There's generally a talk about future career but it's usual rooted out of the concern of student loan.

The students at my school show great school pride mostly wearing school clothing to classes and participating and showing lots of enthusiasm at school events. Most students at my school are from Southern California but there are a few that are from elsewhere. A student that would feel out of place is the one that does not like the heat,as it can get very hot during the school year.

This is a very diverse campus, culturally and personality wise. It's a typical college, you are who you are without fear. Who cares what you wear or say. Different students interact. The common personality among the different ones is friendliness. Everyone's willing to help each other out. Yes, students talk about how much they'll earn one day. We are optimistic

UCR is the 2nd most diverse campus in the NATION! We have all sorts of cultural organizations such as the Chicano Student Program, Asian Pacific Student Program, and LGBT. You'll meet all sorts of people at this school.

UCR is the 2nd most diverse campus in the NATION! We have a cultural center that consists of many multicultural organizations such as the Chicano Student Program, Asian Pacific Student Program, and LGBT. Most students entering the school find an affiliation rather easily. The students that feel out of place are mainly students that don’t affiliate themselves with a club/organization or commute to campus. The demographic is predominantly Asian, but you will definitely run into a wide range of ethnicities at this school.

In my experience, there are many groups on campus that show pride for their own race or ethnic background, but generally tends to be somewhat segregated. Although there is no pronounce racism or prejudice on campus, people feel a sense of community with like individuals. Many people receive financial aid from UCR, but there is a range of socio-economic backgrounds of all students, which I believe to be very diverse. I have been told that people from our school is not as materialistic as other places, but people still like to dress in fashion and wear noticeable brand names to boost their egos. I do feel though that many people are "clique-y" and tend to hang out with those who share common interests. You can always find more diverse groups by looking at community service organizations on campus because they do not discriminate and are replete with like-minded individuals seeking the same goal and our school has shown to do more community service and outreach than any other university in the nation! Most people tend to be Californian and more from around the area since it is within proximity from their homes.
