It is a great school, while it has its downsides, it is a small campus with a good community. It really feels like home. The professors are usually pretty easy to get in touch with and do their best to help. You are not just a number to anyone here. You are recognized and appreciated.

I love my school, It is smaller than most. There are many different majors to choose from. The faculty is very nice and accommodating. The freshman dorms are not very big and there is not a huge party scene, but we have fun. I am very glad I chose Mount Olive as my home during my college years.

I love Mount Olive, I will be starting in the Fall of 2020. I have been several times and stayed overnight, it is an amazing school and offers so much. The University of Mount Olive makes sure that students are safe, it is a dry campus so there is no drinking on campus, the sports teams are great and there is always a game or event going on.

If you thought maybe being just a number wasn't your thing UMO is your place. Never have I visited a school where more than one adult could remember my name and information about my personal life. The involvement faculty has in students life is absolutely amazing!

It's a fairly small school that almost everybody knows everyone. In a way, it's both a benefit and disadvantage for the school. I used to hate small classes because it put a lot of focus on us students individually, however, as I've grown accustomed to this school, the small class sizes arent that bad after all. All of my professors know me pretty well (and I'm fairly shy so I don't talk very much), and they are accessible outside of class on most days. The school is VERY disorganized which frustrates everyone to no end, but they do have generous scholarships that they offer, especially to international students. It's nothing fancy or great. The urban setting can get to you sometimes, and the teachers can sometimes be dull or weird, but the students are pretty decent. Academics can get quite hard as the workload starts to pile up. I haven't had a chance to breathe since classes began in January, but I survived. I may not be doing as well as I thought I would but I'm just glad that I'm even getting a B to a B+. Standards are pretty low around here that I have classmates who aren't bothered by their 39's in a 100% scale

The school's VERY generous with their financial aid. A lot of us are actually on some type of aid, which is a huge advantage. Other than that, there's really nothing else to rave about. The system is very outdated, most of the staff are extremely unwelcoming and obnoxious. The campus feels like a correction center rather than a university. It's in a rural area so there isn't much outside of campus. Also, the whole administration is BEYOND DISORGANIZED. You have to constantly stay up to date with every single thing because these employees could not be relied on. I wake up and go to sleep triple checking every single thing, from financial aid, to classes and requirements. The registrar messed up my schedule and if I hadn't found out about it, they would have never told me. Also, their registration process is laughable. Worst school I have ever been to. If I had the means necessary, I would never have enrolled here. A vast majority of the people I talked to on my first month here all told me they were transferring out after this semester.
I completely understand why and don't question their decisions one bit.

The school is a great place to go, especially if you want a small college with a family vibe to it. food is good and buffet style which is amazing, Cost could be lower, but its less expensive than most private colleges. they are religion based, but dont shove it in your face or demand it.

The University of Mount Olive can feel like an extension of high school, which can be boring at times, but it is better for educational purposes. Everyone on campus has respect for one another, and the professors tend to be really understanding and flexible. We feel safe, connected, and respected. Some students feel as though they miss out on college 'party scenes,' but it makes our school that much safer. We rarely have incidents of injuries or attacks, and that is because we have such a close-knit community that doesn't party like animals. We value and prioritize education and have several resources available to help with that, and those who feel that they're missing out on partying usually go to the nearby universities to party, which keeps us safe. UMO feels like a home away from home.

Mount Olive College is now the University of Mount Olive and I love it here. I was struggling to find a college where I felt like I belonged and I found that here. The professors are extremely friendly and even if you do not have them for class, they try to get to know you and usually remember your name. The Resident Assistants are amazing. It is a small campus so almost everyone will know your name by the time you graduate. You can even email the Chaplin and have prayer requests sent to the student body!

I have been here for one semester and I visited the University last year around this time and fell in love with the campus. Everyone here is so nice and its a small campus so you will usually know everyone in your class. The school is a D2 school and there are plenty of sports and recreational sports as well. There is a gym and all equipment like an actual gym. It's a great private University and if you have the chance to go there you definitely should attend.

Mount Olive is perfect for those that prefer a small school with mostly athletes. Class sizes start at around 35 people at most and as you move into more major specific classes the class size gets smaller. There is absolutely nothing to do in Mount Olive itself however it is only an hour to ECU and then Goldsboro is about 20 minutes away.
Erica
What once was Mount Olive College is now called the University of Mount Olive. Professors are always an email away, classes are small, there are not only students from a crossed the country but from a cross the world. The people at the University want to see you succeed in and outside of the class room.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for University of Mount Olive is 47%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If i could go back in time and talk to myself as a senior i would tell myself to focus strictly on school and not work. I say this because , while i was going to school and working i focused the majority of my time at work and not school . I now realize that school is much more important than trying to maintain a job . Education should always come first. Another thing is that once you move out on your own, life is not as easy as it was when you lived at home. Last but not least is that school is a privilege that not everyone gets to enjoy . So I would tell myself to keep your nose to the grindstone and get a degree in something you love to do.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I brag about how the size of the school is so small, allowing all the classes to be more personable than any other college. The school is small enough where the teachers actually know you on a personal level. This helps me out allot beacause i learn way better in a smaller classroom.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
There are only three colleges in my state offering my major, Agriculture Education. The other two are huge schools with huge populations! Here at MOC, students are like family! We all get along (most of the time) and all have a ton of fun together. I find that it's unique for an entire school to support one another; most student's at other universities don't even know that they are alive!
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
I personally chose to live off campus and commute to school every day. I recently transfered to Mount Olive College in August 2010. So far I have had a wonderful experience. The worst thing about the college is that is is 30 minutes from my home, which is not their fault. Other than that I am extremely pleased with my experience there.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
I would recommend this college to anybody who is serious about their education, wants to attend a college with a family environment, and those who want to be able to have one-on-one time with their professors at any given time.
The typical Mount Olive College student has some type of religious affiliation, though not all of them do. If you're looking at attending Mount Olive College, you probably come from a relatively small town or high school. Do you like competitive sports, knowing most of the people that you're in class with or that live on your hall? What about close-knit organizations where everyone feels comfortable around each other and having an academic advisor that truly cares about you and your life plans? If you answered YES to any of these, Mount Olive College is for you!
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
I personally don't know much about activities/groups at this location. I don't believe there is any, at least not at this location in Jacksonville, NC. But If I remember right, there are many activities/groups at the other campuses like basketball, and other sports, as well as groups.
