I wish I had known to get involved and stay involved. There are so many opportunities on campus, do not miss out.

Julia

I wish I'd known exactly what I wanted to do before coming to college. I still haven't really decided what career I wish to persue. It is has been difficult to decide, and it would have saved a lot of time to know exactly what I wanted to major in. At the same time, it has been a fun ride, and I've learned so much about myself that has helped guide me towards a permanent career.

Ariel

I wish I had known how exciting and enjoyable my university is before I came here. I was very nervous as an incoming freshmen; I was afraid that I would not make friends or that I would have to quit because I couldn't afford to stay in school. I also wish I had known that the transition is made easier by joining clubs and organizations, or that the financial aid office is very helpful for students who want to go to college, but have trouble affording it.

Stephanie

I wish I had known that you need organization and time management already set, or rather instilled, in you because then I wouldn't have been flustered the first semester of my college career.

I grew up in the Reno area and I had visited UNR many time while I was growing up. This allowed me to be very well perpared when it came time to go off to college. It is because of this that I feel there really is nothing that I wished I would have known before I came to this school.

Courtney

I wish that I had known that high school is very different from college. It seemed as though most of my high school classes prepared me for a different college experience than one I have currently experienced. Most of the students that attend this university are focused on learning and furthering their education and making a career for themseleves but high school seems to have only prepared me for minor things, like making friends. I attend the university to learn, to further my education, and to have a career.

My experience at the University of Nevada Reno has been a great one. I just wish one thing was different. I wish that the school and the student government had made it clearer on how to get involved in our campus government. I was not sure of how to go about being involved on campus, and I feel that advertising or having the information more accessible to students would get people more involved in what is happening on our campus.

Amanda

I wish I knew exactly what calsses I had to take for my major. Since I transfered from another college I did not know the requirements of my major unitl I came to this school. That would have saved me a lot of time and money. Also knowing more about financial aid would ahve helped me too.

Sean

I had already known about the surrounding area but the pros outweighed the cons.

Professors truly want to see you succeed. The problem is, unless you make the effort to get to know them, you will be nothing more than a face in a crowd of 200 students. Get to know your professors, TAs, discussion group leaders, and your advisors. That way, when you begin to struggle in class, you will have many great resources to help you out.
