What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I would have know what I wanted to study before I came so that I could have taken the most advatange of research opportunities for as long as possible. Also so I could have prepared better and know how intesive my studies were going to be so I could have taken them mopre seriously and worked harder for top grades. Also I wish I was awear of how the graduate school processs worked becasue know I feel that I cannot compete for a graduate spot because my grades are only average.

Everyone is so friendly! Say hi to a random person, introduce yourself to a random person. I think I kind of knew this already but I didnt take full advantage of the fact that everyone is in the same position as you. A new environment where everyone is new. So get yourself out there and dont be shy!

Before I came to this school, I wish I would have known better ways to choose classes and more about each of the colleges in the university.

I wish that I had known that the way to prepare for college is not by fretting that I would not get into the best college, that my SATs were not high enough, and that my future would be ruined if I made the wrong decision. The way I should have prepared for college is by doing activities and taking classes because I was interested in them. I have learned from my first semester that college is time to develop my interests that I am passionate about in depth, but no one can do that without knowing their interests.

I wish I would have known that some core and Major classes are lecture size classes, which can consist of more than one hundred students.
