University of South Florida-Main Campus Top Questions

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Whitney

I wish I had known that in the real world, we have to make choices on our own and not just depend on our parents. You have to know that everyone is not your friend, and that you have to look out for yourself. This is where our parents have instilled good and firm morales and we need to make choices as young adults based on those morales. I wish it was a warm and inviting place, it is not. I have been lucky to be home with my parents a lot of the time while going to school.

I wish I had known that almost half of the dorms on campus are either older buildings that have not been updated/renovated to meet the same standard as the newer dormitories, or that the newer buildings are significantly more expensive than the rest while not maintaing some of the same benefits as the older ones.

Meal plans are required for first year students living on campus. They are costly and a waste of money. About 1,600 per semester, that's over 3 grand a year. My financial aid isn't covering that.
