I think it is a good school. Everything is very close together and the campus is surrounded by different shops and places to hang out. There are many housing halls to chose from but a few of them have no AC or elevator. At the beginning of every semester the power goes out in most of the dorms which is frustrating because it could be fixed in a few hours or it could take a few days. There are many places to eat on campus, but the main dining hall's food is not good. People often leave there regretting it and with stomach problems. Professors are usually helpful and easy to get a hold of but there is always that select few that you never want to cross paths with.

I've visited this school a couple of times and have loved everything about it. The size of the school and of the classes were exactly what I was looking for. There also seems to be a ton of different activities to do on campus. Overall, it seems like there is a something for everyone and many of the students are very involved which makes it feel like it's own little community.

I started off at one of the extension schools which I would highly recommend. My advisors have been great and the transfer was extremely easy. All of the professors I have had this far have been great as well. As far as classes and grades, I have done much better at this school. Highly recommend.

My experience at UWSP has overall been a fulfilling experience full of opportunity and growth. As a natural resource student, I have been given great opportunities for professional development and fieldwork experience. Professors are average, some study areas are lacking passion and drive, while others are thriving.
UWSP loves to promote its sustainability practices and mission all throughout the university. However, UWSP currently invests endowment (donation funds) funds into fossil fuels. Fossil fuels do not promote a sustainable future for Wisconsin alumni and current students. I will not recommend UWSP until they divest from fossil fuels to better align their actions with their proudly stated values.

I think it seems like a great place to earn your education. The staff are always super helpful and are willing to meet 1 on 1 with all sorts of problems. Students are welcoming regardless of what they are into. The professors are always helpful but also bring up a good challenge.

I enjoy the atmosphere of the university, I came from a small town school, so being able to experience different classes with small class sizes is something that is amazing. The professors are always available, either in their office or over email, and answer questions to the best of their abilities. They are also open to setting up meetings so they can make sure to help point you on the path to success.

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is a small college located in the heart of Stevens Point. It is a smaller college, so it really makes you feel at home. Overall, UWSP is an amazing college that is a great University for not only academics but meeting people around the area, and getting involved outdoors.

Personally, I enjoy how active students are with each other. Plus, there are numerous recreational activities that many can partake in such as soccer and basketball. There are a lot of parties going on around campus for people to attend if they wish too. The school's clubs are very well taken care of and offer a wide variety of things for the students to partake in.

UW Stevens Point is a great college for people wanting a small but close knit community that feels like home. This school is a great school for natural resources and arts majors. The programs geared towards these majors are very respected. They also are very helpful when it comes to finances. They help you out as best as they can when it comes to academics as well.

The University of Wisconsin Stevens Point makes you feel at home while getting the education and social aspect of the college life. Having only visited a few times, I already know that I want to call myself a Pointer. The small town feel helps students adjust to being away from home which is why I enjoyed this campus so much.

I was looking for a university that had a 'small town' feel with smaller class sizes and UWSP delivers. There are many extra-curricular groups and events going on all the time, that you'd be hard-pressed to not find a group with similar interests as you.

UWSP is a wonderful school. Being in Stevens Point, the university offers a calm, hometown feel, allowing students to focus on their academics and college life rather than their being away from home. Students are given a multitude of opportunities, ranging from athletic to artistic to political to career driven.

It's a great school! After touring a few colleges in high school once I visited UWSP I knew where I wanted to go to for college. They have a great art program, while there aren't enough teachers, they make due and make sure every student has the input they need for projects. I'm currently a graphic design major so this helps a lot!

Overall I think it is an alright school, but to be honest the parking lots stink and cause a lot of students problems. Also they seem to constantly be renovating something even though the enrollment here is decreasing. There is a small grocery store right by the campus so it is easy to pick up groceries if you need. Overall everything you may need is fairly close so if you live on campus you don't really need to bring a car, they have buses that can drive you around to nearby stores and apartments if needed.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is 81%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Breathe. Take a good long look at yourself in the mirror. You see that? There, right there. That is the face of a college student. That is the face of someone who is putting a k-12 education behind her, and is now moving up to the level of--oh my God--secondary education. Don't worry about your college classes, because some of them are easier than high school. Don't worry about meeting people, because you'll be great. Don't worry about forgetting something, because your mom loves you enough to mail you anything you've forgotten. Most importantly, don't worry about the people you're leaving behind. This is when your life truly becomes YOURS. So, my advice to you, a bright-eyed college freshman? Hindsight may be 20/20, but if you keep looking backwards you're bound to be tripped up by the present. Let these next four years be spent only looking to the future.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
With this past election, I felt out of place as a republican since Stevens Point is a very Democratic city. It was very alienating how pushy the Obama campaigners got this election, making the few republicans wary of sharing beliefs. The weekends here are usually a lot of fun but not many people stick around since Stevens Point fits as a suitcase college due to the position of the city being in central Wisconsin.
The best thing about UWSP has to be the classes and teachers. Even though some of the topics can seem a little boring at times, the teachers and professors truly make each class enjoyable and fun while still giving us the information we need to succeed. I also enjoy the variety of the classes and how even the basic introductory classes are exciting and interesting.
My classmates are for the most part very focused and determined for those who are in the class, and those who aren't tend to end up dropping out of college anyway.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
UW Stevens Point is a tightly knit community. Living on campus gives you access to hundreds of activities and countless campus events, while still being small enough to allow a sense of family and cimmunity. My teachers all know each student by name, and they form true relationships with their classes. Several programs are available to keep new students on the right track, and there is always something going on. Between our diverse student organizations and our entertainment company, Centertainment, students are never just stuck in their rooms. Stevens Point is a safe, small town school with big time attitude.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I brag about our intense biological and natural science curriculums. A lot of people think Stevens Point, being a city of only 8,000 people, doesn't have anything to do, but I inform them otherwise. I talk about the activities students can partake in like sports events, watching movies, dances, and hall activities all for free!
I would have to say that my school is well known for Natural Resources and Health Promotion and Wellness. It is a very environmentally conscious and is also known for being very health focused, the health focus was one of my main reasons for choosing this school.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
I'm not sure what the stereotype of students at UWSP is. Perhaps that everyone drinks and parties a lot, not always true! Or that it is full of rednecks and country hicks, which is also definitely not true!
