UW-Stout has good facilities for a reasonable price. With the high cost of most colleges, Stout offers a great middle ground between price and quality. They also have a large variety of student organizations to foster friendships between students.

As a visitor whose boyfriend is currently enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, I have been truly impressed with the campus. Hearing about his experiences has inspired me to consider attending myself to pursue a BFA in Game and Interactive Media Design. The classes sound excellent, and it’s clear that the professors are dedicated to providing support to their students. As a hands-on learner, I appreciate how interactive the university’s approach is; it aligns perfectly with my preferred style of learning. I’m excited about the prospect of gaining new knowledge at Stout, especially after my time at Mid-State Technical College.

I absolutely love Stout. It's a great school, great staff and I just love Menomonie. The only thing I would say is some of the professors have their doctorates degrees and PhD and a lot of them make errors with grades, questions and answers. I have to correct my professors a lot which gets a little annoying.

I personally love UW-Stout, very inclusive and you can find people like you in so many different spaces! My freshman year I was in the School of Art and Design and their curriculum is top tier, you learn from professors who work in the industry no matter what major or program you plan to study!
It's a great school and I'm proud to be a student at Stout!

I think it's an excellent school with knowledgeable professors teaching and valuable connections to be made, but for me it's just way too expensive. I will most likely finish the semester and transfer to a much cheaper school until I can afford to finish here.

Most people who attend UW-Stout have heard the phrase "When in doubt, go to Stout." However, the academics are fairly rigorous, especially in the School of Art and Design. As Stout is a polytechnic school, there is a consistent integration of career-relevant skills and hands-on learning. The polytechnic aspect is certainly the strongest draw for me personally, and I find myself consistently challenged by my courses. The art and design building has a variety of labs with tools available to students, and fairly high-quality equipment. The Process Lab has many power tools and supplies, along with staff that can help art students build nearly anything. Overall, the school goes far beyond it's reputation as "the easy way out," and a good placement rate for jobs in the field of graduates.

This school provides a small, yet expansive experience for any student wishing to further their skills. Teachers are involved and expecting every student to push themselves to their potential. Like many small towns which house a University, there isn't much to do in the city outside of a few small shops downtown and the marvelous natural foods store. However, the UW-Stout makes up for that by supporting over 200 after school clubs, and so many labs to create in, if you take advantage of everything you'll never go bored!

UW - Stout employs a very friendly and helpful staff. All of the professors have solid office hours and want you to use them. It's a smaller campus distance wise, so the walk to classes are not bad. Many on-campus job opportunities as well. Overall Stout is one of the better public schools in Wisconsin.

When I visited UW-Stout, I stayed with the cross country/Track athletes. I was able to get the true college feel while being there. Overall the campus is beautiful and I really enjoyed my stay. The team had great chemistry and I felt like it could be really easy to fit in at the college. I attend a small high school so transitioning into college life at Stout would be very easy due to their small class sizes. Overall, I enjoyed my visit at Stout a lot and feel as though it is a great school.

It is an open, helpful campus with plenty of clubs and extra curriculars. This school does not focus on sports, but the art scene is gigantic. The game design and development - art major is excellent, with a newly renovated wing for their capstone classes.

I'm a Freshman at UW-Stout this year. Thus far the school has been good. The teachers here have been very helpful and approachable; they are truly committed to their students and want them to succeed. For the most part my peers have been nice, approachable and approachable. As I design student I value that we are getting to actually learn the tools hands on instead of someone lecturing at us on how to use them. It's also nice that 95% of the classes for art design students are in laboratory classes versus lecture. The campus has safe, easy to navigate, the campus police are always driving around, very approachable and want to be friends with you not against you. Stout is also right across the street from the police and fire department. There's not really a whole lot going and most students seem to hang out versus go to events. I feel that school truly does love ALL of its student no matter background, sexuality or race. It's a very industry oriented and it shows. The students are truly Stout Proud.

Amazing. The overall love and support around campus is amazing. For the large community of art students there is an art store right off campus that works with faculty to help get the best prices and the materials you need quick and easy. Theres endless clubs to join and all are welcoming. The food tastes freakin' amazingly and at an equally great and cheap price.

I have just completed four years of undergraduate study at UW-Stout, and now will be pursuing my masters degree online through UW-Stout as well. The campus community is very welcoming to all students, and there are activities going on for students of all interests. Stout has some unique programs of study and places an emphasis on hands-on learning. I met a lot of great people and found opportunities I may not have elsewhere.

I really enjoy attending Stout. The professors are very easy to get to know and are very helpful, they are what make Stout so great. The on-campus housing is progressively getting better through many remodels. The off-campus housing is kind of gross, and the good houses are far away from campus. The food is good! I enjoy spending lots of time at the library, which is a super great place to find books and do homework. I feel satisfied with the level of academic challenge and opportunity.

I love the school. The classes sizes are great and the teachers are knowledgable. The campus is safe and the town is nice and not overly busy or sketchy. The school is very inclusive with its diversity and is working towards becoming even more so. There is always things to do on campus, weekdays and weekends.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I could've used advice back then because I made the mistake of following an ex-boyfriend to the school of his dreams. Needless to say that relationship didn't work out and I was stuck attending a school for all the wrong reasons. Don't get me wrong Stout is a good college but I soon came to realize that I wasn't in the major that mirrored my life goals. Education is a fine profession but it is not the life path I want to take. After some deep thinking about my life goals I came to realize I really want to work with sports organizations and I am good with people and organizing. That is how I came up with the plan to major in Mass Communications with Public Relations emphasis and that is at UW Eau Claire so I will be transferring there next fall. Once I complete that degree I plan to get my masters in Sports Management. So to sum that up l, if I could give the high school me one piece of advice it would be to follow my own dreams, don't go or do something because or for someone else.
I would reccomend Stout to any students who are self motivated and driven. The professors will do thier best to educate you, but it's a two way street. Also, anyone who wants a good sense of community in their school should attend Stout. There are many opportunities, no matter what a student's interests are, to find a space for them to feel accepted and involved.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
Something that is very obvious about UW Stout and many other colleges is the partying aspect. This can be very distracting and even dangerous for your educational journey. If you have trouble with time management and are extremely prone to peer pressure, then attending this school may lead to a struggle with your classes. I’m not implying that you should avoid this school because of that issue. If you know you have a great head on your shoulders and you are dedicated to focus on your major and develop your skills, then this is the right place for you.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
The professors here are very nice and easy to get along with! If you ever have questions they are more than willing to help you out. I have yet to have a professor I do not like. Not only are the willing to help you when you need that extra push, they also make class entertaing while actually teaching you something. Overall, they are great!
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about this school would be the size of the town. I love the school, but the town is small and the biggest store here is a Walmart. There is no mall which is okay by me. I like going to Eau Claire if I am in dire need of something specific.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
The unique thing about my school is my school gives each and everyone of it's students a free laptop with free books all included in tuititon. Speaking of tuition my school was actually the cheapiest school out of all of my choices being at a total of 15,000 dollars a year and that put the iceing on the cake for me!!
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frusterating thing about my school is that the study abroad program is great but it's so expensive. The application alone is $225.00. It's hard to expect studying abroad when it's so expensive. I really want to study abroad over seas but it's so expenisve I'm thinking of not going. That's frusterating because it's something I really wanted to do.
