What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Feddiena

There are over 200 clubs on campus. There is something for everyone to join. It is really hard to feel left out.

Although Pullman is described as being in the middle of nowhere, it's culture is more than satisfying for the students that live here. Football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, etc., are all entertainment options. Also, there are numerous intramural sporting opportunities for students who want to participate on varying levels of competition. The recreation center allows for biking, indoor soccer, indoor track running, basketball, swimming and more. The Student Entertainment Board continually offers events for students to attend such as the playing of movies that have yet to be released on DVD and Up All Night events with everything from henna tattooing, dancing, comedy and give-aways. I personally have been involved with one of the many churches, the local community center, the in city music productions and Zeppoz bowling. I will say it is nice to get out of Pullman every once in awhile, but for its isolation, WSU does a good job of supplementing a culture.

Football is the big thing on campus. So big, that if you have to work in one of the near labs on a football day, they tell you to park elsewhere so that they can make money. To learn about frats and sororities, please see my first response to "big picture" P.S. Everything on a Saturday night in Pullman, involves drinking.

Blake

Great social life if you like to party and meet new people. Great part atmosphere and for the most par tif you dont mouth off you will get along with most peoples

Nico

Most social activities are in Idaho- 6 miles away. Pullman is not too progressive.

In the dorms students tend to be very social. They leave their doors open, stop by and say hi, and even chat in the bathrooms. I lived in a co-ed dorm and my floor was co-ed as well. I loved having guys on my floor because girls, well we just tend to get bitchy to each other. There are mostly night owls in the dorms, but I had to wake up at 5:30 for work and people are respectful of that. It isnt too hard to sleep or too loud, except occassionally on Friday nights when everyone is coming home.

School is very involved with activities. Several Up All Nights go on throughout the semester to let students come out for some fun. There are concerts throughout the year as well.

Sarah

I'm not very socially involved in the university lifestyle. I live off-campus in Moscow, and I'm 26 so the typical party lifestyle has already come and gone for me.

Megan

Thursday is the new Friday night. Even Tuesdays can be cracking if you're going to Greek social events or parties on campus. The bars all have daily promotions, but Thursday is the big night no matter where you are, whether downtown, at a house party, or on Greek Row.

Alexander

Sports, drinking ... did I forget anything? Nope, that's it.

Jason

social life.....lots and lots of drinking. its seriously the only thing that town has left

One of the biggest ways to get involved socially at WSU is to join a greek organization. I was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, and I consider it one of the best decisions I ever made. Becoming a member of the Greek Community allows you to meet many different types of people, get involved on campus, and give back to the community. Other ways to get involved are through club sports. I played on the club volleyball team and was able to travel to other universities and play volleyball at a very competative level. An important part of WSU culture is sporting events. Some of my favorite memories are from football and basketball games. Events like these bring students together to gt excited about a common goal.

Dylan

its a close knit family, and you see your friends almost every few seconds.

Harper

Being a member of the Greek community and finding great enjoyment from Cougar basketball games I always have something to do. I love being Greek and I love that there is an abundance of activities that anyone and everyone can participate in.

Andy

I like the greek community, there's always something to do! People party but they also know how to keep their grades in check!

Jennifer

There are many clubs and organizations on campus. I'm sure everybody could find atleast one thing they are intersted in. The social life here is amazing. I feel it is not hard to fit in if you are not apart of a sorority or fraternity. Althetics here is everything it seems. There is nothing better in the fall than those Saturday football games, and waiting in line hours to get a good seat at the basketball game. 24 hours a day 7 days a week you can find something to do around here whether it is greek row on a friday night or ordering pizza at 2 am on a week day. Students are always pulling all nighters and enjoying the night life. The atmosphere here is amazing.

Courtney

Drinking is something you can do on any campus, and you will find people who want to go out on the weekends, but it's really not the only thing to do! There are theatre productions, free movies in the auditorium, classes at the Rec center, guest speakers...

Sean

I am involved in Greek Week Exec which means that I help to plan and put on Greek Week. I am also an officer in Colleges Against Cancer which is a new group starting up to put on the Pullman Relay for Life. Additionally, I am part of FreeRun WSU which is a tumbling club meeting 3 days a week. I've found that there are so many clubs to choose from that sometimes it is difficult to be able to do so and there are many leadership opportunities as well. I like to go to Nuthouse performances as they are usually quite funny. I am part of a sorority so that also has large impacts on my time. I have a leadership position within my chapter as well as attend other meetings and functions, all of which are completely dry.

Chris

There is a large Greek community, constituting around 13{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the population. Athletic events are a huge deal in Pullman. There is no single demographic not present at a football or basketball game. Concerts that come to Pullman are always sold out, and there are many bars and dance clubs available on weekends that students don't have big events to attend. Homecoming and Greek Week as well as Mom's and Dad's weekends are big social events for the entire community. People party a fair amount on the weekend, but there is also a couple movie theaters, a bowling alley, and a casino in town.

Bridget

I love the clubs and organizations and sporting opportunities WSU has to offer and feel like they have really helped me network and really supported me in building my knowledge around my career interest. I love the programs such as theatre, guest speakers, concerts and multi-cultural opportunities the college has as well. My sorority has helped me mature and be accountable, as well as got me involved in community service, philanthropy and engaged in other campus opportunities.
