Washington State University Top Questions

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Erin

When I entered into Washington State University, I didn't really have an idea of what the "college life" would be like and I didn't know anyone else attending WSU. Not knowing much about the campus or the classes really forced me to make friends. I had to find ways to understand how the college worked and where everything was., however knowing some of this information would have been very helpful in helping others who had the same questions I did.

I wish I had put more thought into where I would like to put my time (i.e. clubs, organizations, and which classes to take for a minor). I also would have appreciated more guidence in applying for scholarships.

Alice

I really can't think of anything I wish I had known before I came to this school. I did all the research I needed before I made my final discison so I wasn't surprised my anything becasue I was kind of expecting in.

Amanda

I didn't fully realize the weather (hot summers, snowy/icy winters), and the extreme distance from my home. The 6 hr drive one-way makes it difficult for me to visit my family regularly, and I'm very family oriented.

Kajsa

I wish I had known more about the activities that are held by the university. I didn't know how to get involved when I arrived on campus, as most of the activities are not very well advertised. It has taken alot of time to find about the groups and events on campus, and most events usually aren't advertised until it's too late.

Alexis

The feeling of loneliness slowly crawled under my skin as I drove to college. I came to this university with a handful of familiar friends from back home, even with these people who are unbelievably supportive, I was still alone. There was a twinge of fear, mixed with anxiety, as I transversed unfamiliar landscapes and boundaries- the beautiful Palouse. I miss what was familiar to me- my family, my friends, my books, the streets, the smiles, the shops, and the inside jokes. I wish I had prepared to be on my own or had the push to be independent.

Jennifer

I wish I would have known to balance a social life with a vigorous academic schedule.

Casey

I wish I had known what I wanted to do after college, it would have saved a lot of time and money in deciding a major.

Joey

Nothing.

Megan

That the math 201 class would not be conducive to my learning style.
