I'm a new student this leaving me with minimum experience.

Though I haven't officially started. The school being a Christian college. I'm assuming students are there to study and make a positive difference in the world. With this I'd like to use this time in college to work on my personal behavior and way of thinking and planning a positive lifestyle.

Wayland Baptist University has a great soccer program and also other sports programs. The food here is could be better and we only have one cafeteria/dining hall. Plainview, TX is a very small town and not much to do here. The professors are very qualified and knowledgeable.

It is a great univeristy it is big but not to big everything is faith based and teachers are always available. The campus food is great but not home cooking the classes area fair size not to big or small. Anyone who decides to attend WBU is in for a treat.

I feel like Wayland Baptist is the school for me. I am a freshman, getting ready to leave to attend school there actually, and I have nothing bad to say about the school. Everyone is so welcoming and polite and their sports program is amazing as well. I've only been on one campus tour and I love how the campus is set up. I'm very excited to start playing soccer and focus on majoring in sports medicine to pursue my dream of being a physical therapist.

Life on campus is full of life. From the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep there is always something to do. Around the campus its not so big where it takes you half an hour to get to one side to the other side of campus for one of your classes, everything is in walking distance. If your not playing sports at the school then you can always go the the rec center to play different games. In side the class room you will really get to know your professor and your professor will know you too, your not just a number in a room.

I found Wayland Baptist University to be a fantastic place. So much so that I have chosen to attend Wayland for the next 4 years. If you are looking for a university that offers a wide range of degree options, a small town feel with big city opportunities, and the feeling of community Wayland Baptist is worth a look! Go Pioneers, Go Queens!
Vicki
It is a great University. The curriculum is set up to assist you in achieving success. The only way you fail is if their is a lack of trying on your part. The professional staff is always very friendly and courteous. They are only a click away if your in need of any information or guidance. I Love my WBU!!!
Ethan
Wayland is a good overall Baptist based school with many opportunities and activities. There are a lot of great faculty members that are always willing to be of assistance. The students are generally very passionate about attending Wayland and do everything to make it a pleasant experience for all the other students on campus.
Sabrina
Wayland is a fun and friendly environment with students who are welcoming and create a friendly vibe to all those who visit the campus. Professors are always available and are great with working one on one with students, and the living and food are good but some work can be done, overall its a great college.

Just getting started here @ WBU but so far I love it. Everyone has been so welcoming and I'm looking forward. It's a 4 year college in a smaller town setting. There is not a lot to do but where I come from what they do have is better than what I came from. It is a long way from home though. :)
Aaron
Wayland Baptist University is not for everyone. It is a very small school in a very small city, but the student body finds ways to have fun. The best part about Wayland is the overwhelming support the students receive from the faculty and staff. There is always someone there to help.
Meighan
I love Wayland. I do not go to the traditional campus in Plainview, which is why I was unable to rate some of the items listed. However, here in San Antonio there are multiple campuses that allow for easy access and a great familiarity with the staff. Wayland offers a variety of options in scheduling, online classes and small campuses / class sizes that have really made a difference in my college experience. Coming from a much larger school, I feel my experience at a smaller more personal school has done much to benefit my education.
Alexandra
I like a lot of the professors and the small class sizes are nice. There isn't a lot of activities put on where students can meet each other and interact together outside of sports and required classroom activities. The campus food isn't really all that great 80% of the time
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Wayland Baptist University is 99%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I have personally become more social and I am now able to communicate with people more fluently. I have made amazing friends and have come to understand God more and what His plans are for me.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
Prior to attending Wayland Baptist University I wish I would have had more insight on the dishonesty of their athletic programs. There seem to be alot of empty promises about the entire campus involving status on the sports teams, and money issues. Also, I wish I would have had more clue as to the availability of financial aid, and the overall lack of organization.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
The business and financial aid offices will work for you to make sure that somehow you can afford to go to college. Another thing I love is the small class sizes. You have a one on one relationship with every professor and they will help you anytime you need it. You won't find that at a bigger college or university.
The best thing about Wayland is that it is a predominantly Christian school. You see God's existance in the administration, faculty, and students. The love of Christ is definantly felt here.
My university is best known for its ability to provide a more affordable option for a private university experience where one can receive a quality education in a small community. It is also known as a progressive institution for having been the first university in the former Confederate South to voluntarily integrate.
The people at this school are a mixture of highly religeous, somewhat religeous, and people with just about no religeous background. I would recommend this school to anyone who likes a small close academic environment. All the teachers here at Wayland are very flexible with athletics and are always available whenever you need them. Most of them will really work with you with whatever you need. Anyone who likes a small campus with good student facilities to hangout and loves a great christian environment would fit right in at Wayland Baptist University. I would highly recomend Wayland Baptist University.
Participation in class was very common. I enjoyed that a good portion of the class spoke up during the lectures. The classmates I had did not seem very competitive. Which made going to class and getting help with assignments easier. I loved that we could meet our professors before and after class. The professors were always willing to help and available for questions.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
There were not any stereotypes at all. Everyone just participated and got to know each other. I enjoyed my classes because we all had a similar story. We all already had jobs but wanted to move up. We all had families at home, but still went to class at night. We all understood each other.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
94% of students attending Wayland Baptist University receive some sort of financial aid.
52% were awarded federal grants.68%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
