Before you know it, the New Year will be here. There will be the inevitable countdown shows leading up to New Year’s Eve; the Top 100 Music Hits, the Top 100 Celebrity Tweets and of course, the Top 100 Most Outrageous Moments Caught on Tape. So, in the spirit of the season, we thought it might be fun to do our own countdown…of scholarships you can still apply for in 2011. While there are well over 100 scholarship programs still accepting applications before we ring in the New Year on 1/1/12, we’ve shortened our list of scholarships to make it a bit more manageable for you. So, without further ado, we present to you our 1st Annual Holiday Top 10 Scholarship Countdown…
Alice Madden Barton Scholarship Program: Open to U.S. students (high school seniors and older) who plan to pursue a career in barbering or cosmetology. Two (2) scholarships valued at $500 each are available.
Blogging Scholarship: Any U.S high school senior or undergraduate student with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher may apply. Applicants are required to submit a blog (500 to 600 words) about the topic posted on the sponsor’s website. This is a $1,000 scholarship.
CourageToGrow.com Scholarship: U.S. high school seniors and undergraduates with grade point averages of 2.0 or higher may apply. Each applicants must submit a 250 word essay to compete for this $500 scholarship.
Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship: Any U.S. high school student (grades 9-12) or undergraduate college student may apply. Applicant must also submit a 250 word essay on the topic of his/her choice. Award value = $1,000.
Imagine America Scholarship: Open to U.S. and international students who graduated in 2011 (high school seniors graduating in 2012 may apply beginning in January 2012) with GPAs of 2.5 or higher. Applicants must have participated in community service in 12th grade. The scholarship prize is $1,000, and last year, over 8,000 scholarships were awarded.
Top Ten List Scholarship: All U.S. students (13 years or older) are invited to apply. Each applicant must submit a list of his/her 10 favorite books. A total of three (3) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.
L. Ron Hubbard’s Illustrators of the Future Contest: This program is open to U.S. and international students with interests in painting or drawing. Applicants must submit three (3) illustrations. There are three (3) quarterly awards valued at $500 each. Winners of each quarterly contest will compete for the Grand Prize trophy and an additional $5,000 grant.
SBO Magazine Music Student Scholarship: Open to U.S. and international students in grades 4-12 who are interested in music. Each student must submit an essay of 250 words or less. A total of 10 scholarships valued at $1,000 each are available.
Zinch Super Student Stimulus Scholarship: Must be a U.S. high school or college student to apply. One (1) scholarship valued at $5,555.00 will be awarded.
‘I Was Born in 1994’ Scholarship: Any legal resident of the U.S. or District of Columbia, who was born in 1994 and will enroll in college no later than 2014, may apply. Each applicant must submit an essay of 250 words or less on the topic posted on the website. One (1) award valued at $1,994.00 will be offered. *Please note that there are also scholarships available for those born in 1995 & 1996 with the same requirements and deadline.
