Are you familiar with the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge? Of course you are. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve no doubt seen the thousands of videos (and failures) making the rounds on YouTube, Facebook, and other social media channels.
The success of this campaign (to date it has raised over $107 million) has spawned yet another charity plea across Twitter — #PayMyTuitionChallenge. Students are asking celebrities, millionaires, and large corporations to step up and help them make their college dreams a reality. One company, though, has already accepted that challenge, but well before a single tweet ever hit the stream.
Say hello to Unigo Group. Formerly known as EDPlus Holdings, this company is quickly transforming the college consumer marketplace. With its network of websites, which includes Unigo.com and ScholarshipExperts.com, Unigo Group is helping students find the best Return on Education (ROE™). Not only is it finding innovative ways to help students plan for college, but it is also stepping up to help them pay for it, too. Since launching its +U $10,000 scholarship program in January, Unigo Group has awarded $100,000 in scholarships to high school and college students. And that doesn’t even include the monthly scholarships (valued between $1,500 and $5,000 each) offered through ScholarshipExperts.com. But, the money train doesn’t stop there. Unigo Group is currently offering four $10,000 scholarships through its ‘5 Simple Words’ Unigo Scholarship program. To enter, you must choose five words (hence the title!) that best illustrate what your life will be like ten years after college. In addition, you must include a brief explanation (200 words or less) why the five words were selected. Just be sure to submit your application by 11:59 p.m. PT on September 30, if you want a chance to join the growing list of scholarship winners. If you’re a current college student, be sure to check out Scholars Smackdown, which is also sponsored by Unigo Group. Two lucky students will receive a $5,000 scholarship just for playing a fun, online college rivalry game. But hurry, this contest ends on September 15! Although it can’t give every student a scholarship, Unigo Group is certainly doing its part to help more students finance their educational dreams and finish college with minimal student debt. By the end of 2014, the company anticipates awarding more than $200,000 in scholarships to U.S. high school and college students.
Congratulations to Unigo Group’s latest scholarship winners!
