What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
First of all, your senior year, although it is exciting and you are ALMOST finished with high school, is NOT the time to relax and slack off. Work hard now! All of the difficult classes you decide not to take in high school will come back to haunt you in college. Get those Chemistry and Biology classes out of the way in high school while they are free! You will be much more prepared for tough college courses with this basic knowledge also. Next is that I had my son when I was 20 years old. I will be 30 this year and I am STILL going to college. Since I have been a single Mom and I have had to work, go to school, and take care of my son, I have only been able to take 1 or 2 classes each semester. Now, while all of my friends have graduated college and are working at their dream job, I still don't have my degree yet. College is difficult for everyone. Having to juggle work, kids, laundry, college, school plays, and bills is even more difficult. Wait until after college to have kids. Please practice safe sex!

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
Everyone says that our students at NHTI are only at the school because we aren't smart, or capable of doing the work of those at a higher college. This stereotype is completely wrong, we have many students that are enrolled in AP classes with 4.0 GPA. NHTI isn't any different from any other community college. I feel like I truly belong their and everyone I talk to is very intelligent and friendly.

I wish I would have known that the first two classes I took were not transferrable. They failed to tell me that, but other than that I pretty much know what I need to know right now.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
As an adult learner it is frustrating that I have to take the prerequisites before I can take certain classes. I cannot take them concurrently. As an adult learner I understand the learning process and understand the effort that would need to go into taking these classes at the same time.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
NHTI is very student and career focused school with an excellent reputation in many of its field. It maybe a small school but has a big campus feel that encourages and fosters students to be involved with their college and participate in many activities other than just attending classes. The college sets aside a two hour block of time once a week were students are allowed to attend and be part of on-campus groups such as drama club, student leadership, and the human service club which I plan on being a member.
