It is a very academically challenging small school. The professors I have personally had classes with and have had interactions with have all been supportive and valuable resources. As an adult student finishing my education later in life, I have not only felt very welcome on campus and by my peers but also felt very supported and encouraged by the faculty and staff.

It is a welcoming school with a ton of opportunities in all sorts of majors and minors. The staff are incredibly helpful and welcoming to all people. There is always a police officer on campus, it helps to make it feel safe. Housing is pretty good too. There are washing machines and dryers on each floor. There are also TVs, games, and microwaves in the common area on each floor.

It is a great school with a loving feel. Everyone is extremely kind and would take the time to get to know you. Although there are not very many shopping places or anything like that, they still offer great learning experiences and a safe environment.

This seems like a great school. My brother is a current student, and has never had anything bad to say about his college life. I toured many other colleges, and I am planning to attend here this coming fall. I am greatly looking foward to being a future ranger.

Northwestern is a small school located in a northwestern Oklahoma. the people re genuine and it's a quite place to have fun yet still be able to focus on your studies. I would say it is a break from the big city of Oklahoma City. I would say about 75 percent of the people I have talked to they are enjoying their time at this college

Northwestern is a good school, the teachers take time to help as long as you do and most of the people are very friendly. We have a tremendous amount on communal support. The main downside is that Alva is a pretty small town so there isn't a whole lot to do.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University is an amazing school. Whether you are into sports, art, theater, or academics there is a place on campus for you. Academically I have had a very positive experience with my professors so far. If you are ever having trouble with the content they are very willing to help. At other schools, I have come across professors who are hostile and make you feel dumb if you ask for help but that is never the case here. The class sizes are another great aspect of Northwestern. Even in my general education classes, the student to teacher ration is relatively small. The teachers work hard to make a connection with every one of their students starting with knowing every one of their students names. This is something that is not offered at other universities. Northwestern is also known for having a great nursing and education department. Other than academics, Northwestern offers a great variety of extracurricular activities. They offer everything from clubs to fine arts and even intramural sports. Although it is a smaller school, there is such a wide variety of activities. Another great aspect of Northwestern are the dorms. In Fryer Hall, one of the many dorms, there are Jack and Jill style bathrooms so each student only has to share the bathroom with 3 other people. This relieves the stress of the infamous shower shoes, shower catty, or even forgetting a towel! Plus the university provides for laundry so all you have to bring is your own soap. Northwester is a great school with many amazing attributes. If someone is looking for a great school academically, for sports, or clubs that is located in a great town, Northwestern is the place for them.

I am a second generation Northwestern Oklahoma State University kid. I have always wanted to go to Northwestern and i will in the fall of 2019. I love the school atmosphere and how everybody gets along so great! There is not a kid i see that feels left out because there is something for everyone whether it be band, choir, sports, or Greek life. There is something for everyone.

It's a great and affordable school. The teachers are amazing to work with and are always available for help and guidance. The campus is big but not overtly large. Everything is in walking distance. There is a large assortment of food available for students. The school never runs out of extracurricular activities for student to expand their education and to make new friends. I am quite satisfied with my college discussion.

Of all the countless colleges in the United States, I did choose to come here mainly because of the class sizes and location. Class sizes are small and the professors usually available most of the time. Although at times they may have a busy schedule, they would still find time to attend to a student's needs. As for location, this school is in safe society. So far I have not encounter any lethal societal threats that would make me move from this community.

My first day was Ranger Preview and immediately it felt like home, Even my mom can tell you it felt right to be here. Everyone is extremely friendly! And trust me, that's a lot coming from an anti-social person like me. During ranger preview I ended up signing up for some many different clubs, they even had an anime club!

I am extremely impressed and can’t wait to attend in the fall. I have always looked forward to this school and I honestly can’t wait to become a ranger and start working towards my degree in Psychology. I hear this college has the best psych program over any other college! I’m truly happy I got accepted and couldn’t wait to join such friendly teachers and staff in my pursuit of knowledge!

I love being at NWOSU. It didn't take me very long to decided that this was the college I wanted to attend. I went to high school in an area that was very big on sports and cared more about that than getting an education. Northwestern is the exact opposite. They are very student oriented in almost every way and while sports are definitely in play, education, grades, and going to class always come first.

It is a really great school with super helpful staff who are very friendly. It is a small campus and great to start out on to help you get out on your own. I love this school and all the opportunities it has to offer there students and honestly one of the most friendly colleges in Oklahoma!

I am pleased with the interaction between professor and student. The class size ensure that I can achieve optimal learning. Alva is a small, rural community so the night life is a little slow. However, it is within easy driving distance of plenty of activity.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Northwestern Oklahoma State University?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Northwestern Oklahoma State University is 43%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Choose what is most comfortable to you. If you enjoy being close to home choose a college that you can commute back and forth to easily. I moved an hour and a half away my first year and I had a blast but I didn't realize how much I missed my family until I was gone. I decided to move twenty minutes away and I lke it a lot more plus all af the students here are country kids jsut like me. Live in the dorms atleast one year, it's so easy to meet people that way it may take a few weeks but you'll get to know most of the people on your hall eventually. I wish I would have lived in the dorms when I moved last fall, I lived in the dorms as a freshman but when I transfered schools I got my own place. It is a lot harder to meet and stay in touch with people when you don't run into them every other day.

  4. Describe the students at your school.

All of my classmates have been absolutely amazing! In every class I have been in, there are always people that want to help each other. I have had study groups in nearly every class, and I have made some great friends. I started college not knowing a single soul in the school, and now I have many friends that I spend non-school time with also!

  5. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Alcohol is the worst thing about Northwestern. I absolutely love my school, however alcohol tends to be how most people bond with each other. It is a very big part of the social life in Alva which makes it difficult for those of us who do not drink to get involved with the social activites. It is isn't forced but it is considered "the norm." I have not been hounded to drink or felt pressured to drink by others, they respect my decision and it is nice being able to hang out and give rides.
