Oral Roberts University stands as a beacon of faith, built on the foundation of Christianity, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the perfect blend of spiritual and academic excellence. This isn’t just what ORU was founded on—it’s what it lives by!
From the moment you step onto campus, you feel it—the presence of God surrounds you. The warmth of the students and staff, the kindness in every interaction, and the deep sense of purpose make ORU more than just a university—it’s a family, a home, a calling.
The vibrant clubs, powerful prayer sets, uplifting chapel services, and faith-filled communities create an atmosphere like no other. It’s a place where you don’t just grow academically—you grow spiritually, emotionally, and as a leader.
Everyone deserves a taste of ORU, because here, faith isn’t just taught—it’s experienced

Let me be blunt: the administration at this university is a money-hungry machine, and students are the ones getting chewed up. It’s shocking to see an institution that touts Christian values put profits first, all while pretending to care. I’ve followed every rule, submitted every document, and yet, when it came time for support, I was met with fines and surprise charges that seemed designed to rake in cash rather than provide aid.
The faculty may genuinely care, but the administration? They’re more interested in their bottom line than in the well-being of students. They’ve made it painfully clear that their priorities are upside down. If you’re thinking of enrolling here, consider this: are you willing to pay a steep price for an education while being exploited financially? The disconnect between what this university claims and the reality is staggering.
For any parent or student considering this place, take heed. This administration’s practices are a far cry from the values they preach. You might end up feeling like a dollar sign instead of a valued student. Proceed with caution—this institution’s actions tell a story that should give anyone pause.

I think that Oral Roberts University is a great College and has many of the things that I am looking for in a college, it has an amazing education program in which students are in a classroom helping a young child how to read in their first semester and it is a private Christian college which is important to me.
Katelyn - 07/31/2024
As a current student of Oral Roberts University, I thoroughly enjoy the campus life and the education Oral Roberts brings to the table, my only major complaint is with the issue of scheduling classes and transferring credits. I feel that sometimes I get sent on a wild goose chase just to get a class or to make sure I have everything I need for a class. But overall, I love this university and the people, connections, and resources it has brought me!

They do not care about their nursing students. For two year, they have failed their freshman nurses. The nursing students don't have a lecture. They are given Youtube videos that don't line up with their lab (Which is supposed to be for another class entirely.) The professor for this class teaches highschoolers during the day making them unable to answer questions that the students have. The students only get to interact with the professor for thirty minutes a week which results in most of the nursing students being unable to get their questions answered. The professor also don't consistently respond to emails. The quizzes don't use the terminology that the books are using. I know once apon a time the ORU nursing college was respectable and well renown. That is not now. That is not today. And they have shown no inclination to rememdy the errors of their curriculum. (or honestly lack of it.) I would not come here for their nursing program. I pray that they will learn from their mistakes and make it a curriculum that is designed to help the nursing students. Currently it's a program where the nursing students have no help and might as well just have done homeschooling for the curriculum. I mean, it's all from youtube anyway.

Oral Roberts University is the best university in the world. As Students take part in mission trips as part of 60 clubs that are available through the university. Here,in Oral Roberts University, it has weekly chapel services in Christ's Chapel, which are recorded and broadcast live through the university's television station and also via satellite.

At it's core, Oral Roberts is a university that loves God and builds it's students up to be the leaders of the future. It's a place for the hungry Christian mind that doesn't just want to attend a church service, but live in an environment constantly enriched by his presence. There's so many things to love, from the gorgeous campus, to the great professors, and amazing students. Of course ORU has it's downfalls, as every college does. At the end of the day though, I'm proud to be an ORU student, and I can't image attending any other college.
Arayna - 06/23/2020
It has a great reputation but it's beginning to fall away from that and have a culture like every other college. Not dissing other schools, but it used to pride itself on being different. I still like the school and very much want to get my degree from here, I just wish it held up to all its claims.
Amanda - 06/04/2020
Oral Roberts University, is a great school to go to. All the staffs and students are friendly and are always ready to help. The ORU community is one of the best communities to get involved with. There is always a group for someone to be apart of. At games or events, the ORU student body is always supporting our players and showing off the support.

ORU is a fantastic school for those who are academically minded and focused on improving their spiritual life. The teachers are incredibly invested in your success, and even the caretakers of the lawn wave when you walk by. The campus is relatively small, so class sizes are small, which promotes thought-provoking conversations. The school has a strict no drug/alcohol policy, so I wouldn't consider this school a party school. And the campus food leaves something to be desired, however, ORU is surrounded by several restaurants and grocery stores, all within walking distance.
Jeremy - 05/05/2020
It is a great school with a wonderful curriculum. It meets all the needs and above for your overall degree, you are seeking. They have a whole person approach, they do not just focus on academics. They see you whole and complete and help you grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. The whole person being is impacted when you attend this school. They want you to go out into the world and be able to impact everyone in the field you are in whether it is nursing, teaching, computers, business, etc. and to be able to do it with excellence by impacting the whole YOU in the curriculum and all-around approach that is so vital to our well being. Most colleges give you the knowledge and some hands-on but ORU gives you so much more than that. You will be truly transformed when you graduate and will be able to do your job with excellence and zeal, stamina and endurance.
Marcelo Gabriel - 04/03/2020
The Oral Roberts University is an amazing place to earn a great education and be closer in your relationship with God.
Amber - 01/12/2020
An amazing school. Very attentive to your success.
Jasmine - 12/20/2019
Oral Roberts University is overall a good school for spiritual growth but students must be ready for the challenges in education and people around them. Everyone comes from different backgrounds in every aspect and area of life so that is were people collide the most. The education is great but there are still always clashes when it comes to professors. Some cannot speak English 100% and some professors teach multiple classes or just that one professor for the entire program. A lot of things won't be explained until you get to Oral Roberts University. All in all, ORU is the place that will challenge you in every area especially your character that you will see so much growth in yourself.
Daniel - 10/10/2019
I love ORU! I love how it's a Christian school in practice and not just in name. The teachers are ready to help, the people are friendly, the architecture is beautiful, and food is pretty good too! I hope to attend ORU soon and be a part of this amazing community!
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Oral Roberts University is 68%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
My situation is a little different, as I am a non-traditional student. The advice I would of given myself as a high school student would be to not take anything for granted. School is a gift. It is very expensive and as I said should not be taken for granted. Although it is a joy to learn and is necessary for a career or certain professions, it is still a gift that should be treasured and viewed as such. To not value your education is a disservice to all, your family, your community, but mostly yourself. So, I would say, take every day and treasure it, every class and adore it and every moment of every day, rejoice in it.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing would be the cost. It is so expensive to go there and if you cannot find any kind of scholarships then you will leave with over $100,000 in debt from a 4 year career as a student.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I had known how much it was going to cost besides tuition, I would have gotten a full time summer job to offset some of the cost. I was a freshman when I came to ORU so I mostlikely had the same experience as everyone else.
I really value the quality of education that I am recieving here from such distinguised and succesful people in a diverse arena of fields of study. Their success compels and inspires me to make the most of my time here so that I can excel in my career.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I brag about the fact that my school is a Christian environment. All of the student and professors there are on fire for God and just kind and welcoming. Oral Roberts University has the most beatuiful campus of any college I have ever seen. We also have great athletics. These are a few of the things that I brag about.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
Oral Roberts University is a comprehensive university interested in developing the whole person, nuturing traits such as intellectual abilities, physical fitness, and professional competence, so all who attend may succeed in whatever they plan to do in life.
Oral roberts university is best known for their great acadmics. We are huge on mind, body, and spirit. The number one goal of the university is to well-equip students for a job that they want, help grow them spiritually, and also keep them physically fit.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
This will be my first year at Oral Roberts University. There are some things that bother me already, however. The school is very strict on behavior. Students are not allowed to have sex or drink. I think that is incredibly narrow-minded of the school. College is a place where you learn about yourself and become an adult, so why does this school insist on treating its students like children?
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
The most unique aspect of my school is the Prayer Tower which is located in the center of the campus. As a Christian I truly believe that prayer or declaration is pivital in my life. I do not believe that the location of the Prayer Tower is a coincidence because the founder Oral Roberts himself prayed in existence this beautiful and successful institution. The Prayer Tower for me, is a reminder of how things become. Just think about it, it's located in the center and if you walk around it, you will see exactly what Oral Roberts prayed for.
ORU is a school of about 5,000 which in my opinion is just right. Just enough to feel important and enough to make sure that everyone doesn't know you. ORU overall is about vision and helping you obtain it. If you want to be motivated and find purpose and identity on a global scale then ORU is the place to be. It challenges you to grow in every area of your life.
Class sizes are great. The professors are like minded in vision with ORU. And they truly care and make the extra effort to see you succeed. And thats probably an understatement.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.

95% of students attending Oral Roberts University receive some sort of financial aid.
40% were awarded federal grants.63%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
