I really like this school. The people here are friendly and supportive. People are truly passionate about what they are doing here. There is also a lot of support from faculty and staff. I feel it’s a really great school and I am enjoying being here.

I really like how my professors in animation are giants in the field. They are former Disney animators and have worked on so many huge films. They have also opened their own studio in Nashville and use students as interns on their projects. I do not regret choosing this school!

I had never heard of Lipscomb University until the summer before I applied. However the more research I did into the school the more I fell in love with it and it truly has lived up to the expectations. The professors I have had are incredible and personable and genuinely care about the students. The campus grounds are well kept and there is always plenty to do, though personally I don't have very much time for it.

When I visited Lipscomb University for my New Student Orientation, I got the chance to know what it felt like to call another place home. I felt as if there was something continuously pulling me into the campus. I wanted to find out what exactly was making me so drawn toward the university, and so I did. For me, it was the moment I stepped into my audition for the Theater department. I knew that I felt welcomed enough to be on the campus. The staff members as well as the students in the department felt so inclined to make sure that I felt comfortable in their space. While I felt so new to the department, I still knew that this was the place meant for me. It has the people that make you feel more close to home when you feel alone. The people are everything to me here at Lipscomb but that did not stop me from wanting more from its college. I found out that there are so many opportunities to be involved in, both on and off campus. From being a mentor for another student to directing an entire show for the student body are some of the many ways to feel a part of the college. Staying connected with other students, professors, and even local employees working at the university is what brings me joy. My most memorable moment I have from being at Lipscomb so far is meeting so many people that show so much kindness and care for one another. Lipscomb is the type of university that exists for making everyone feel welcome and involved in not just the social community but also in the area of belonging to a home and making one's mark in it as well.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Location, location, location! Yes, academics and extracurriculars are important, but going to school in a city that is enjoyable gives your student an opportunity to leave campus and recuporate from the stress of college life. Although the purpose of attending college is to earn a degree, do not forget that a social life is part of your education too. Classes can become over whelming, but students can find respite in spending time with friends at beautiful parks and restaurants near their campus. Colleges and universities that have plans for future expansion, both academically and architecturally, will likely be more inclined to meet your student's needs for a well-rounded college experience. Inquire how tuition dollars are allocated toward your student's department of interest. Choose a school that places an emphasis on your anticipated major, and you will surely find your educational expectations exceeded.

Somewhat of a suitcase school. Many people leave on the weekends and the campus can seem dead. Though it seems this way, there actually are more people around than one might realize. You just have to find them.

  13. What are the academics like at your school?

Most of the professors are good people. However, I have only met 2 that are good teachers. This is my fifth semester here so I have been around the block a time or two. Classes that should be objective are made to be subjective. This allows the faculty to make sure the children of families that donate money pass with flying colors while the rest of us finish out the bell curve of grade distribution. My proof is in the fact that 4 out of 5 papers I received a C on have now been published, without any changes, by professional journals. I have also submitted for publication papers from fellow students that received A's. Not one of the 23 papers has been published but interestingly these students all come from families with a history of donating to the school.

  14. Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

They are accurate for the most part. I have met a few that do not fit the mold but most of them have transferred. Those of us who stay usually do so because of the scholarship and its too late to transfer and graduate on time.

  15. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

There is plenty to do as long as you like kool aid, cookies, and bad singing. It is a church school so I understand they want everything to reflect a church like atmosphere. But, the Christian school front is really just for marketing to parents and an excuse to have their hand in everyone's business. Social life at Lipscomb is a joke. Most of the students portray themselves as future preachers on campus. However, DUI's, aborted pregnancies, and excessive drug use are okay as long as you pay the Lipscomb fine and they are able to keep it out of the media.

  17. What is your overall opinion of this school?

They want your money. If you do not have cash to hand over to them on a consistent basis then go somewhere else. Here's a little rundown of the extra costs they don't tell you about. Not fulfilling your chapel requirement = $1000.00 (I am sure giving an extra grand to Lipscomb makes God happy) Student loan processing fee = $200-$600 (Basically what ever they can keep without making a scene) Printing = $200-$400 per semester. (They have started using online books for several classes. Many schools have done this but the printers do not reproduce quality copies which forces students to reprint several times and Lipscomb makes money on reprints)

  19. What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

Stuck-up, high-strung, very close-minded, judgemental. Some of these stereotypes hit the nail on the head so to speak. However, people at Lipscomb generally are very kind and, happy. Unfortunately they really do not have an open-mind about most political events, and if you do they look down upon you. It seems as though you have to put on a "Christian Lifestyle" to get extremely popular in this school.
