My opinion of University of Memphis is that, please, consider going there because not only are the staff are nice and resourceful, but the students around here are very friendly and they bring a lively information towards the community as well with other resources. I just love the vibe in there!

I enjoyed my time at the University of Memphis. As a white student, I was definitely the minority, but that did not phase me. I am sure it will for a lot of other people however. The campus is really nice, and it is not too big. I only had one professor I would say was not "good" but the rest most certainly were.

I like the U of Memphis. I fell in love with the campus, the cleanliness and the safety most importantly. Its super convenient to my family and for students alike. I felt they tried hard to ensure your aware of your safety and they were aware of your safety and that you were a human being not just a number on campus. I felt the U of Memphis has put great effort into a majority of their programs and and their success rates speak for themselves. Their programs prepare you to work that profession with the utmost capability.

I really like the University of Memphis because it is close to home. They offer a variety of classes and majors. The campus is very nice and the advising staff is excellent. The class sizes aren't too large and the professors are usually available by email.
Shyraneka - 04/27/2021
Overall, the University of Memphis is a nice campus. You have ample opportunities to learn, meet new people, and stay connected with your health.

The University of Memphis is a wonderful school to attend. From my first day up until now, I have really learned a lot and enjoyed the "campus life" even with a pandemic happening. There are so many great opportunities and organizations that you will fit right in and have a great time.
Darrious - 12/24/2020
The university of Memphis is a beautiful school. Has a lot of opportunities and access to different programs and events throughout the city of Memphis. Being in the Masters program with sports and commerce it provides great opportunity to even work with huge programs like the Memphis Grizzles.
Talona - 11/30/2020
University of Memphis is a great school with a friendly community and staff. The professors have great communication skills, emails are replied to within a few days or a week. Sometimes less than that that. The student body is friendly. The school could be more organized.
Loren - 11/17/2020
Its a great University with plenty of activities, and high student engagement. The housing is great on and off campus, and people tend to be very helpful all around campus. I love the sports here, and am involved in one too. The sports community is great, especially if your looking for a fun gameday school.
Omari - 08/27/2020
In my opinion, University of Memphis is one of the best universities that I have ever known. When I was a child, my mother took me to the school while she attended classes there. The University of Memphis helped her become a great social worker. The University of Memphis has big buildings and many programs that help us get jobs, make friends, learn languages, appreciate art, and more.

Danah - 05/04/2020
After I graduated from high school, my top choice was the University of Memphis. I was so glad to be attending in my hometown. Now that I am graduating this semester with my bachelors, I am so thankful for every opportunity I got here. It is was perfect but an amazing experience. Which is why I decided to apply for my graduate program at the University of Memphis.
Jaiya - 02/27/2020
The University of Memphis is an average school. There are many things that need to be fixed about this university. The location is not always the best, and the campus needs a lot of work, but the academics are decently well instructed. The University if Memphis has a lot of good qualities, but it needs more accessible information about unanswered questions students have.
Anna - 02/05/2020
The University of Memphis is relatively affordable, especially for Tennessee residents. It offers a wide variety of majors, and is well known for its health studies and arts programs. It has a diverse amount of sports and clubs available. On the other hand, parking, on-campus housing, and food options are very poor, and safety after dark is questionable.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for University of Memphis is 56%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If I could go back to my senior year I would become more involved in my school. I would join as many organizations as possible, go on as many trips as I could, go to every sports event, and I would live it up as much as I could while I still had the free time. Now that I'm a full time college student I'm always busy. The grown up stage has taken full effect. I work, go to class, do homework, sleep and repeat. Sometimes I can even go all day without remembering to eat because I'm so busy. I miss the free time I once had. While I was in high school, everyone was worried about the latest drama and who's talking about who. If I could go back I would tell myself that these people and the drama that I'm worried about now won't matter a year from now, so have fun while you still can. Too soon you'll be looking back on your high school years and realize they were some of the best and most important years of your life.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The campus offices (Financial Aid, Registrar, Admissions, etc.) are far too bureaucratic and do not seem to communicate with each other. The student is expected to find out how things work and solve his own problems with little or no help from any of the offices.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about Memphis is parking. Its a fairly big campus but parking is horrible. There are so many students on campus this year but we have nowhere to park. We get parking tickets all the times. And if we don't pay them we get HOLDS, which prevent us from registering and receiving our transcripts. They just need to invest in more parking space.
Our school is best known for its sports teams and athletic departments-- basketball, football, intramurals, the list goes on. Our students are very supportive of all of our sports teams. We have student sections that travel across the nation along with our sports teams to cheer them on.
The professors in the social sciences. They are very knowledgeable and are always willing to share the knowledge with the students. There are actually many professors who do not seek to fail students. They are always willing to help inside and outside of class.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
The university of memphis is better, because their nursing program has a higher percentage of passing the NCLEX the first time than UT Martin. Also I had a brother graduate from here, it made my mother feel a lot better about me attaining an education here. This way I could have some insight on what to expect.
The best thing about this school, that I feel gets over looked a lot is the fact that we are a top institution. We have one of the top Law schools in the Nation, along with a top 100 Business Program. If your looking for a easy ride, its not here at the University of Memphis. This school will challenge yourself to become better. That is why I love this University. Our school has around 22,000 so if you feel like you want a big time atmosphere then you get that here, along with the small school feel, because people commute to school as well. The school pride here is incredible; I mean turn on a Memphis basketball game and that should answer your question. One main thing about the University is that the historic Beale Street is a matter of ten minutes away, some people travel just to see Beale and you will be so close to it every single night.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
The most popular student groups would definitley be the Fraternities and Sororities. We have 11 IFC (interfraternal council) chapters here along with 6 PAN(panhellenic) chapters and the Divine 9 NPHC chapters. Greeks aren't as big here at the University like some SEC schools, but we also are no where near as expensive either. Since being Greek I have become involved with so many other organizations, because the fact I am Greek and more people know my face on this campus. I encourage all students to go Greek, because it gives you that sense of family when you are not with your actual family. An OG is an Orientation Guide, the people you will be with the most when you make your official visit to the University of Memphis. These could become your best friends because they are students just like you and they will tell you everything you need to know about this University. It is especially hard to become an OG as well; they only pick the best of the best student leaders on this campus to become OG's. Another great organization we have here is Frosh Camp. Frosh Camp is a camp during the summer that is put on by the university where only a selected counselors are chosen for this, because these student leader counselors are going to make bonds with incoming freshmen that will last them their entire college career. For more detail about Frosh Camp just ask. The last organization that is huge on Campus, would have to be Up Til' Dawn. The University of Memphis is just miles away from the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We work with St. Jude personally and raise money for the kids each year. It is a rewarding experience because you get to actually see the help you are doing for those kids battling cancer. I think that is one of the most rewarding things I have done in my life.
Now the athletic events are insane, people love the Memphis Tigers here. We have one of the most storied athletic programs in the country. We have a top 20 basketball team. The number 3 womens soccer team. etc. the list goes on.
What is there to do off campus? Well a lot of students like going down to Beale street to grab a bite to eat and look at the beautiful Mississippi river along the river front. (great place to take a date). Or just head over to the FedEx forum and catch a Grizzlies game. The things you can do off campus is incredible. I love this University.
Well to be honest my classes are quite simple to me, some are challenging but if you attend class in college there is no reason you shouldn't receive anything lower than a C.
Well, here at the University our Greek system is kind of small. But the numbers are increasing annually. I am apart of the Greek system here and wouldn't change it for anything. It gives you a family that you might not have here on the University. Someone to always be there when you need and will help you out throughout your college career. I have been the President for my chapter and now serving on the IFC Executive board here on campus and have a lot of insight on anything Greek.
People love the athletics here at the University. Sports is something we pride ourselves on at Memphis. We love to win, which we do in a lot of sports, also the atmosphere is incredible here.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
96% of students attending University of Memphis receive some sort of financial aid.
50% were awarded federal grants.54%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
