I am attracted to Baylor university for a few reasons. First is the healthcare programs they have there. I want to be a prosthetist so I looking for a school that has strong focuses on science and engineering fields. My mother had also attended Baylor, so I have a good idea on what it will be like there.

Prospective04/24/2025

I chose Baylor University because of the sense of community and the way academics are intertwined with faith and the college experience. The moment I stepped on campus for the first time, I knew I was in a place where I belonged and could honestly develop as a person and scholar. The Biology major is great, especially for a student like me who's pre-dental, and there are just so many resources for students to make sure they can be successful. I also like how everyone is involved—there's always something happening, whether it's campus events, clubs, or just hanging out at Common Grounds. What amazed me most, however, is the manner in which Baylor not only encourages students to pursue their careers but become good human beings as well. Overall, I'd give Baylor 5 stars because it's not an institution—it's a community that challenges you to be your best while providing a supportive push when needed.

Prospective04/22/2025

In an University, I am looking for a campus full of diversity and people to make connections with, activities to participate in, and teachers to help support me to a better future. I want to be a part of a community that can be recognized for not only their academic achievements, but campus life as well. Within a university, I feel as though everyone should be considered a part of a family, and that although we may seem different with a variety of interests and accomplishments, the value of our school should bound us together. I want to attend Baylor because while looking at your sites, the university values diversity and making sure the student finds where they fit in. Baylor is a really good-high standard and inclusive school that I would love to attend. From what it seems, the campus cares about each individual for what their worth rather than a number they've received. Which is why I would love to attend in the Fall of 2025. And If I do get accepted, I feel as though I will continue to represent and be involved in the activities hosted, and also maintain a great academic performance. I can be a leader and help-out around campus, bringing an overall positive spirit to the school. Making sure I'm connected and involving others also, to create a well incorporated campus.

Prospective04/22/2025

I was very impressed by the students, facilities, and programs.  Something crucial to me when looking at universities is how they interpret their role as a university. During my tour, my guide emphasized Baylor’s commitment to helping students with their next step, such as job placement. It doesn't feel like you'll just be a number there. I got the impression that Baylor genuinely cares about its students and has all the resources and intentions for every student to succeed.  Baylor’s low student-to-faculty ratio and small class sizes are appealing, as well as the Christian community and culture Baylor offers. College is often painted as a faithless, degenerative period in people's lives, where partying is the priority, and your education is merely for a slip of paper (a degree). I never got that impression at Baylor. Specifically, during my tour of the business school, I got an inside look at the students going about their everyday lives, and I found that students seemed to be excited about their work and what they were studying. They were passionate about their learning and growing together. I can’t imagine a better environment to pursue my college education.

The overall environment of Baylor simply seems like an enjoyable experience. Everyone that I have met that has gone to Baylor University have all left a positive review on not just the education, but the people, as well. All of the extracurriculars, clubs, and people that you meet have all been said to leave a lasting positive impression.

Baylor has one of the best entrepreneur ship programs and I would love to attend this program to get me in the next level but also create new connections for the future.

Prospective04/19/2025

Baylor University is a beautiful university. When you first visit, you're greeted by a lovely stadium and welcome center. Being right on the interstate means you can easily and quickly travel between Austin and Dallas. Culturally, Baylor does an exceptional job of easing freshmen into college life. Academically, Baylor is a top institution in the nation, especially for research. Between their honors program and their research programs, they've built a legacy on helping their students shine to their future employers. Campus life is extraordinary as well. The facilities at Baylor are well-kept and are constantly improving.

Prospective04/18/2025

Baylor has amazing and experienced set of faculty who are excited to mentor students to enable them to succeed in the industry. The Paul L. Foster Success Center is an entire office that is solely dedicated to helping students decide how to spend their time at Baylor in the best way possible in order to learn what their interests are, how to pursue them, and how to succeed in the real world. Baylor is also unique in that it has a caring community of students and provides an endless array of opportunities to establish relationships and connect with peers. This will encourage me to establish strong bonds with friends who have similar interests as I so that we can work together to grow stronger in the fields that we are passionate about, all while making lifelong memories that we can cherish. It is for this reason that I have chosen Baylor over other universities that I have been accepted to in deciding where to start my college journey.

I am most intrigued by the campus atmosphere of Baylor University. From the great Division 1 Football team to the multitude of programs that make advancement more possible. These aforementioned programs including the law and medical sections that make professional careers more tangible.

Prospective04/07/2025

What stood out to me was the fact that I didn’t feel like I stood out much. I felt like I fit in to the family atmosphere. Both my parents attended Baylor and walking in to the campus felt like walking home. It wasn’t shocking or too big or too small. It felt homey and like I could invision myself walking the paths and attending classes and feel safe doing so. The people I met while I toured made me feel like I wasn’t attending a university but just growing close to another family and spending time with them and going to class. I’d never felt so at ease.

Baylor University is a well-regarded private Christian university in Waco, Texas, known for its strong academic programs, vibrant campus life, and commitment to faith-based education. It offers a blend of rigorous academics, Division I athletics, and a close-knit community that appeals to many students. Some of Baylor’s standout features include its business, law, and health sciences programs, as well as its connections to the Baptist tradition. The university has a beautiful campus and a strong school spirit, particularly around its football team. It also provides numerous research opportunities and study abroad programs. On the flip side, Baylor’s religious affiliation may not be for everyone, as it incorporates Christian values into its curriculum and campus culture. Additionally, tuition can be expensive, though financial aid and scholarships help many students. Overall, Baylor is a great choice for students looking for a high-quality education in a faith-based environment with a strong sense of community.

My opinions of Baylor University is that it is a wonderful school all around. From academics to sports to student involvement to study abroad to research, the list goes on and on. Everyone is so nice, and always willing to help someone in need out. The workers are so kind and are treated with such respect, and I feel like that really represents what the culture is like on campus. The Christian aspect of Baylor is great; I don't feel like they're overbearing at all and do a great job incorporating their beliefs into what they teach and their core values without overwhelming non-Christian students. I would recommend Baylor to a prospective student every single time!

Baylor University FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Baylor University?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Baylor University is 39%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I had the chance to go back in time and talk to myself, I would better prepare myself for the hard transition of moving two thousand miles away right after graduating high school. The transition from living with my family to living on my own in a complete different state has been a difficult one and it takes a lot of time to get adjusted. Sometimes I even consider transferring back home just to be with my family and friends. I would also tell myself to better prepare for college financially; saving up and understanding all the costs of living on your own. Had I been better prepared, it would have made the transition to college a lot easier and I wish I would have taken saving for college more seriously. Baylor is a great school but had I known how hard it would be, I would have considered staying home for a couple years to better prepare myself for the transition of moving away as well as balancing working and going to school. It would have made affording Baylor easier and would have reduce home sickness both of which can affect my productivity in school.

  4. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

I'd say that it is probably that amount of financial aid given. My school is very expensive and every year the tuition seems to increase. This puts a strain in all the students' pockets.

  5. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

My objective was to find a school with a good business program and an NCAA equestrian team. I applied to 10 schools and was accepted to all of them but could only secure a spot on the equestrian team with 3 of those schools. One of them, Baylor, has a great business school ands they offered me a small academic scholarship which helped me in my decision as Baylor was the most expensive school of the 3 finalists. Now that have one year under my belt, I have to admit that I love being at Baylor.

  6. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I had known that on-campus parking is often crowded, and the parking decals are quite expensive. So it isn't really worth having a car if you live on campus, as long as you can get a ride to the grocery store with a friend.

  10. What kind of person should not attend this school?

I do not believe it is right to decide whichever person should not be allowed to attend Baylor. That is unethical. The only person that shouldn't attend Baylor would be someone who doesn't want to be there. When a person is forced to be at a place they don't want to be, they tend to be unproductive. Your not going to want to make progress at a place you feel is not for you. Baylor students all have strong Baylor pride. Also, everyone is welcome.

  11. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating thing about school is trying to attend a school that offers so much, but doesn't put the information out there for it's students to find out. It's very frustrating to find out about different oppotunities offered by the University after you already passed the need for them. Baylor offers things, such as emergency loans, that most of it's students are unaware about unless someone who has found out the information tell you about it. The hidden opportunites are single-handedly the most frustrating aspect of this school.

  12. What is your overall opinion of this school?

I actually visited more than 20 schools before I decided to come to Baylor, and I LOVE it here. The campus is beautiful, the professors are friendly, and the students are wonderful. We have a ton of school spirit, BU pride, and great BU traditions here. Waco is really a cool city too. Sure, it's not as big as Dallas or Austin, but it has everything that you need, and there are plenty of fun things to do here.

  13. What are the academics like at your school?

The professors are what make this school so unique. Every professor I have knows my name, and I have built great relationships with many of them. Being from out of state, it was important for me to find people here to "take me under" their wings. I have a professor friend who drives me to and from the airport when I fly home, and she fixes dinner for me every week. The class sizes are small, and you can really easily get to know people.

  14. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

The small class sizes are really good. However the lack of social options is very discouraging, as is the lack of diversity. It's almost sickening to see students that are all cookie cutter.

  17. What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Baylor is supposed to be this big Christian college, but still welcoming to all people. It's not a party school, and the people should be a little nicer and more hospitable than the average student because we're Christians. Here you have the "Baylor family" and it should feel like home.

  19. What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

Most people believe that students who have the opportunity to attend Baylor University come from extremely wealthy families and are therefore somewhat stuck up or snobby. While this may not be entirely untrue, there are far more genuine, caring people at Baylor than I have seen at any other university I have visited. With that being said, one of the stereotypes that holds true is that fraternities and sororities play a large part in the social experience. For instance, it is pretty rare to attend a party or event that is not organized by a fraternity or sorority. In some cases events are put on by other student organizations, but this seems to be a much rarer case. However, this stereotype should not cause future students to worry because Baylor is an extremely diverse campus and most people can find their niche within the first few weeks of the semester.

Baylor shows lots of care for their multicultural students, they make us feel non-neglected. There was an event called Kaleidoscope for upcoming multicultural freshman. It was a lock in that would introduce us to other future Baylor students and current Baylor students. That was a day that I really fell in love with Baylor University and the diversity it had to offer.
