I think that my college, Texas Southmost College, is one of the best community colleges in Texas. They have Really good professors and courses to take and the staff is friendly and there to help me and other students with any questions we may have. Especially the people who work in the student services building. This is going to be my second year in Texas Southmost College and I can say that I think this staff and faculty have done a great job helping out the students. I was really lost my freshman year, I did not know what I was really doing, but thanks to my academic advisor and the help of other staff members I am so close to graduating with my associate's degree.

This is my first year enrolled in this college. Honestly I love everything about this college. Every single day we have an outside activity that anyone can attend. What I love the most about this college is the rec center, this is where we can go workout. Working out is great for us students who are in college, we get to go take out all of our stress there.

It is a great school to get your basics out of the way. It is somewhat affordable and works with the students. There is a variety of classes and most of the professors are helpful. Every now and then you get one that is just there for a paycheck but it is quite rare.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
College is a wonderful learning experience! I learn new things everyday; the satisfaction of knowing that no one can take the knowledge I accuire, makes it all the better. I love the fact that college not only teaches me the subjects, but also about life. I always believed college was going to be so hard, and I have to admit I was a little scared to start. In my personal situation, I attend college(UTB) far from home (Dallas), and it was pretty hard in the beginning, but this experience has made me grow as an individual. I have become more independent, and that I feel, is one of the asspects I value the most from attending college. Its not like school, here I have to work for what I want, because in the end if I don't take advantage of the opportunity that is laying right in front of me, I will be the only one losing from it. I will never regret making the decision to go to college, and hope to accuire a career as an Accountant thanks to my college education. Before college, I always wondered why everyone loved their college years, now I know!
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
What do I wish to know before to come to collegue?, how expense is to study in college. But fortunatelly only that I have is the spirit to graduate like registed nurse, find a job and help my children to go to college in the future. I wish to be son of a whelt father, or had win the Texas lottery. or at least to get more paycheck every two weeks. Another of my wish is to had known before, is that the huge amount of new knoldeges were no changed , now for me is another challenge to update them.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
At UTB we have a unique veiw of life. We are friendly and are always optimistic. We like change and encourage new ideas. If you have none of this qualities, and decide to attend UTB beware, we tend to rub off on people and unless you do not want to have a life time experince that will enhance your learning ability and built a life time bond with UTB, then do not attend UTB.
I would have to say , the school enviornment. I like the atmosphere here, it feels very natural and does not feel hostile. I am an incoming freshmen , but the times that i have came to TSC for my own personal questions. i have been greeted with very smart, intelligent people who want to help me and give me the ansewers that i am looking for. So the best thing i would have to say would be the environment this campus gives off. I am grateful to be here and happy to be attending this college.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The major problem about my school is that some of the students are not college-ready due to their poor academic performances.
Moreover, some of the professors are making the students too comfortable in their grades by using academic curve to the extreme.
Academic curve gives undue advantages to some students despite of their porous performances in homeworks, tests and the finals.
This favor eventually boomerang on the students whenever they go to another school out of the valley. They(students) found it hard to cope which leads to unproductiveness.
I believe grades should be awarded based on merits.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
the classes are not that big and it gives students a better chance at understanding the class. unlike most UT schools that can have hundreds of students per class at a time. It is also in a very good location that encourges ethnic diversity.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
From my experience I really haven't seen any kind of stereotypes in my school because everybody is so busy with their classes and homeworks there's no time to worry about that
