I am beyond excited to attend university especially an HBCU. I believe that I can learn many valuable life lessons and create connections with life long friends that will help me grow. their social media platforms are filled with happy and satisfied students all while still being appropriate for a college. The culture is what I mostly strive to be apart in. I love my people and I would love to be around my people. The only issue I already have with the school though is their communication. It is very hard to get a simple question asked from the admissions team, housing team, or anything related to trying to get there first. I'm sure it gets easier once you arrive to the school and start classes, but why scare off students before they get a taste of college life?? Don't you guys want scholars to attend such a beautiful campus?

Texas Southern being an HBCU stands out to me as a black women. A lot of African Americans get treated differently because of our color and even gender. I think it’s so beautiful how they spread not only Black culture but Black love.

I understand that TSU has a lot of deep rooted history in the civil rights movement as well helping others achieve black excellence and their true potential through offering chances at completing higher education. Those that attend this college help prove to those that always seen us as inferior that we can and we will. TSU is one of the biggest HBCUs in the country and never fails to support it’s black population just as it’s been doing for almost 100 years and for that, it’s a 5/5 in my books and I’m sure it is for its students and onlookers alike.

Texas Southern University has a very inclusive campus environment that can barely be seen at other HBCUs. The staff is very welcoming, and the students are very easy to get along with. The campus gives you a sense of home, even if you are 900 miles away from your actual home. I highly recommend going here,

This is the third college I’ve ever been to. I really like this college, honestly I’d say I love it. This is the first time I’ve ever even bough school pride stuff and wear it proudly. I happily represent my HBCU. I can’t wait to get my M. D. and say I graduated from Texas Southern. The best HBCU I’ve been to so far.

My HBCU is amazing and very supportive. We are always interested in learning new things. It is a nurturing environment that fosters growth, learning, and well-being for its students. In such schools, a sense of community and collaboration thrives, creating an atmosphere where every individual feels valued and supported on their educational journey. . Teachers and staff go beyond their roles as instructors; they become mentors, guides, and advocates for their students. I think TSU is a comfortable campus where I feel like I belong. There are people like me that know the struggles financially and mentally. I love the views and the people. The extracurriculars are interesting enough for me to join. I do feel like they can do better on the on- campus housing.

Texas Southern University is an HBCU where being comfortable in your own skin isn't a problem. There's tons of different activities to do on campus almost every week for everyone. If you need a place to relax, people to talk to, or just wanna go somewhere to simply hang with friends, there's plenty of places on campus to visit. I am a 3rd year at this university, and it has been nothing but good since my first year here. I always had help when I needed it, always had things to do when I had time, and plenty of people to have fun with.

I highly recommend any and everyone to come to the one and only Texas Southern University not only is it a HBCU (Historically Black College). My HBCU feels like home and you will always feel loved. Classes are a good sizes not too big and also not too small

Texas Southern University has a unique social and learning environment. The classes set up, for me at least, are all filled with professors who care about quality education and students are eager to learn. The campus life is full of surprises when it comes to the band and our famed men's basketball team. As a volleyball player on the NCAA Women's Volleyball team, I have experienced many exciting adventures when it comes to travel and meeting other athletes. Creating friends was simple due to the friendly environment I was always exposed to.

TxSU is an amazing school it felt like home when I went and that is what I was looking forward to see. Also there are many opportunities as well as job fair's open for students. Highly recommend all students to attend because you'll get a great education while living the fun college life they also have really good reviews on their dorms and campus life. Everyone on campus was very sweet to me and the energy was amazing .

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I would tell myself to continue to do what I was doing. However if any changes were to be made I would say study. I never studied inhigh school yet I kept good grades. These grades could have been better in any case so studying would help me if nothing else.
Some of my classmates are very interested in their education they study and are engaged, others just dont care they would rather just socialize and leave class or not come at all.
People who attend this school should be personable. They should be ready to take on a big city such As Houston. The school is under five minutes away from the busiest part of Houston which is downtown. This school is great and has a welcoming feel to it.

The most unique thing about my school compared to other schools I considered is the close knit relationships between students and faculty members. I have numerous valuable relationships with many of my professers and academic advisors; this has given me a major advantage over my school's competitors.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frusting thing about TSU is that there are a lot of students on campus who aren't truly interested in getting an education. Too frequently do I overhear students talking about almost getting grades lower than C's for all their classes in a semester. There are also quite a few students who choose to enroll, but never show up to classes. My thing is, if you don't want to learn, don't enroll in college.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
I believe those not prepared to work hard shouldn"t attend this school. TSU has something for everyone, from every walk of life, to feel at home. My time at TSU was not only challanging, it was fun, southern in every way. Those who attended TSU from other schol were glad to enbrace the "southern" way, it was so inviting, how can one describe it. Well, southern hospitality sums it up. TSU produced a proud, and productive person, and I am glad to say I am a TSU alum.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I really do not brag about my school but if I was to brag I would brag about our baseball team because they're good and they seem like the only team to win games and I would brag about the wonderful sorority I joined in Spring 09, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. I do have to say that the alumi at my school have a lot of school spirit when it comes to Homecoming. I would also brag about being independent by having my own car and apartment living away from home.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
The stereotype of students at Texas Southern University is that they are lazy and will not leave this university equipped with the tools we need to succeed. No! This stereotype is NOT accurate.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
I would say the most popular groups would be the fraternities and sororities. The PHPC is one of the great organizations at campus for all pre health professions. I'm more involved with the Honors College and PHPC. I met my closest friends when I most of my classes with them. If I'm awake at 2 am on a Tuesday, I would definitely be studying. I really don't get myself involved in any kind of parties, but I've seen that people do part at TSU. Last weekend, I was studying for my upcoming midterms.
As a psychology major, I believe that the academics are rigorous. The psychology department is continuously trying to bring in better teachers and expand the curriculum.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
94% of students attending Texas Southern University receive some sort of financial aid.
