My opinion on West Liberty is mixed. I feel as if the students are friendly, but they form clicks very quickly, so it's hard to fit in if you don't know anyone. West Liberty also offers many fun things to do if you're bored on campus. Overall, it is a lovely school and has a beautiful campus, but some of the professor's teaching styles are hard to follow

When I first visited West Liberty I was immediately interested to learn more mainly down to the scenery on the way to the school. Once I arrived I was instantly struck by the impressive infrastructure. Most of the buildings being built in brick which make them look like newer old buildings. Knowing the buildings were not long built I was instantly impressed because it was just beautiful to view these buildings. The athletic facilities were absolutely stunning. In vague detail I have have never seen anything like it, it was almost like living in a dream especially growing up dreaming about playing a high end standard of soccer. The training facilities, game day fields, gyms, and locker rooms are extremely appealing. The dorms are impressive too due to how newer the buildings are and how comfortable they make on-campus students feel from everything I have witnessed and been told. The classrooms are very satisfactory. The classroom sizes are comfortable sizes because it is enough students that will allow you learn and it will also make sure the professors know all their students incase of any extra help needed by a student. I believe that West Liberty is the place for me and I hoping with some financial help I will enable myself to live the dream I have had since a young boy of attending a very good college and playing soccer at a high standard for the next 4 years of my life.

my first impression of west liberty was it was simply breathtaking, such a beautiful campus. The tour was student-led which I thought was important getting the tour and opinions of the college from a student’s point of view. They keep up with the outside work such as cutting grass, raking leaves, picking up trash, and everything else that comes along with it. When I took my tour my guides name was Alaina, she was really sweet and made my first visit so enjoyable! She filled my family and I in on the history of campus, a lot of importance’s, mentioned how they have 24/7 security on campus, showed me all the classrooms I’d be in as a first time student, gave me a tour of the nursing wing in depth, showed me multiple dorms which I enjoyed because other colleges only showed me one if that, she also made me aware of all the resources I have access to as a student that’s going to live on campus. All the staff we came across was amazing and really welcoming made sure if we had questions and they answered promptly. One of my favorite things about West Liberty would probably have to be the dorms they have in the Jack and Jill style dorms, which are two dorms together conjoined by a bathroom that way students could have personal space as well as having someone right next door. Another amazing this about campus is the food, it tastes like homecooked food not like school food. The set-up of different meal plans they have is also really helpful! I had other college options but as soon as I visited West Liberty I knew it was meant to be and it’s the place I’m going to call home for the next four years!

Coming from a larger city, I found great peace in West Liberty University's rural campus. I was a member of a sports team, so making friends was easier, as most athletes tend to befriend other athletes. Honestly, it seemed the students were made up of either athletes or local commuters. Academically, studying in the college of natural sciences was quite challenging. Some may think it would be a poor program due to West Liberty's size or location, but that is far from the truth. The class size made professor-student interactions personable, making it easy to schedule any extra help needed outside of classroom time. The only major flaws to WLU are the room and board situations. Not many options outside of dorm life. Also, the food options and hours are inconsistent.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back and give myself a pep talk about college, the key points would include: how to become independent in a short amount of time, how to better manage my time, and ways to get involved in as many ways as possible. I feel like I was so dependent on my parents before I came to school and then when I watched them drive away, I didn't know how to make it on my own. I would recommend to all high school seniors that they take the necessary means while still in high school to become more independent before reaching college. It is also imporant for college students to have fun, but more important that they put the reason that they are in school first, their academics. Organization plays a major role in this process. Knowing when things are do, what is expected of you, and how to make yourself look professional and mature can all contribute to putting academics first. The best advice that I could have given myself would be to get involved in as many things as possible. I was lucky and had tennis to help with that, but not all students will.

Actually I wish that I had know how capable I would be in handling colleg classes and the assignments. I do not mean to say that they are "easy" but I really was concerned prior to attending college, in what I perceived would be the difficulty of takeing college courses, and how I would handle them. Once I began the classes, I learned that I was better prepared than what I thought I was.
