As a nurse, I plan to leverage my education to establish community health initiatives targeting underserved populations, focusing on preventive care and chronic disease management. I aim to create a mobile health clinic offering free screenings and health education in rural areas, partnering with local organizations to address barriers like transportation and health literacy. Additionally, I’ll lead workshops on mental health awareness and nutrition, empowering individuals to advocate for their well-being.
The “Making Waves” Scholarship will directly support these goals by alleviating financial burdens, allowing me to dedicate time to volunteer-driven projects and leadership training. It will also fund certifications in public health and grant writing, equipping me to secure resources for sustainable programs. By combining clinical expertise with community-focused innovation, I’ll work to reduce health disparities and inspire future nurses to prioritize equitable care. This scholarship is the catalyst to turn my vision into measurable impact.

After going to Suffolk for years now, I have always felt like I have a support team, even while being an online student. Teachers are always willing to help, and the staff is amazing and is currently helping me transfer to a four year school. One amazing thing about Suffolk is that the credits are usually always transferable. The people here are amazing, so if you're conflicted about choosing a school or maybe not sure of a major, Suffolk will help you find you way, no doubt about that.

I love Suffolk county community college. I chose after high school not to go away to school, to stay home. I had family issues that prevented me from continuing school at the moment. but now I'm back in school and I couldn't be happier. From the variety of classes and times, to how well the professors are. You couldn't ask for a better college to attend. The advisers and counselors help you a lot if you aren't sure what you should do, and will happily but you on the right path for success! From Suffolk I plan on attending another college to get my bachelors degree and to continue on after that to PA school. If it wasn't for Suffolk, I wouldn't be where I am today. I will be forever grateful for the experiences I've had at Suffolk.

I truly enjoyed attending Suffolk County Community College. It is the perfect example of what you put in, you'll get out. Professors are fair and available when you need them, and the courses offer challenge but professors truly want you to learn the content taught. I would recommend it to anyone locally graduating high school.

Suffolk Is an amazing school. When I first started I was a little scared and worried for what was coming. I was scared of getting lost, being late, etc. Suffolk made me feel comfortable. Your ideas are expressed freely with no judgement at all. Suffolk makes me feel safe and wanted.

It was a nice school, it’s a great way to get a start in your major and take the correct steps towards your future. Suffolk community college is an affordable easy access way to figure out what you want to do and what steps are needed to fulfill all your general need and succeed.

Suffolk doesn't have the best reputation, many people put you down if you say that's where you're attending. This was mostly just a problem in high school. Now I'm really happy that I attended. It was a great start to college without putting me in a lot of debt. I thought that the professors were understanding of my situation, and valued teaching me. I took my studies very seriously here, in order to prep for my nursing program. I've gotten very helpful advice towards achieving my academic goals. I think if you're unsure in the slightest about your major, or if you want to take a slower start to your academic career, Suffolk is a great choice.

Many people have a lower regard for community college. Admittedly, I did at first too. After succumbing to the community college student life, I realized that I couldn't have been more wrong. Suffolk opened my eyes to many academic opportunities, as well as many extracurricular activities that enlightened and excited me. The professors are very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The best part? it is completely affordable for anyone!

It’s a great college. It’s extremely affordable to gain your pre requisites and transfer to another school. There really good at transfer credits . There really good at making the teachers accessible and the class hours you can take are always great. Whether it’s morning mid day or night.

I had an overall positive experience at Suffolk. I think the education and the time spent here depends on the person attending. If you make the most out of your professors and engage yourself on campus, there are countless ways to self-enrichment. Clubs and school associations are nice and administration is generally helpful if you’re polite and respectful. I’d say this is a solid two-year school.

Suffolk is a great school to start your college career at. If you plan on going to school for four year or more . You should definitely start out here and save yourself a few dollars. You can meet wonderful people and make friends for life. The professors work with you as well and are very helpful

Suffolk is a community college you have a lot of freedom to do your own thing. Personally I didn't care for it because of the people. Lots of immaturity going around which can lead to it feeling like 13th grade. It felt like extracurricular activities were run by children. The professors for the most part were helpful as long as you participate and respect each others time its smooth sailing. Its nice to see the college building more accessible areas to help students with studying, tutoring, etc. Honestly I couldn't wait to get out of there, and nothing was really memorable from this college experience.

I think it’s great. A lot of people look down on it because it’s “just a community 2 year college” , but I think it’s a great start. It’s a good place to get your foot in the door. It gives you an opportunity to make sure you’re enjoying your major, and it is affordable. There are many clubs and activities for students. Of course, no matter where you go you’ll get those few teachers that aren’t your favorite, but every teacher I had so far, was great and very understanding and available if needed for extra help. The campus isn’t too big, but it’s nice. With great dining options, a nice library and it’s genuinely a nice environment.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
The one piece of advice that I really wish that I could have given myself was to get my mind in gear and choose a major before the start of college, this way I wouldn't have to take two full semesters and one winter semester of Liberal Arts & General Studies due to the fact that I had no idea of what I wanted to do when I registered for college. Between the loss of my father and getting so many offers to different colleges in a vast amount of states across the country, and with no ideas as to what I wanted to do after High School, I was a bit stressed and therefore lost as to what I wanted to persue later in life. I am glad that I chose the automotive field to base my college studies in because I love my classes, my teachers, and the overall family atmosphere of the staff and the students within the program, as well as the fact that what I am learning now can be applied to everday life. Without transportation, the world wouldnt function, and my future will be a key element in making sure the world funtions efficiently.
Anyone who is willing to put their pride aside that a community college is not like a real college and know that it isn't just how big the building is rather how big is your mind and imagintion.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The lack of a social life. When it comes to going to school, I tend to attend my classes that I need and leave. There is not too many people to socialize with because students are constantly coming and going.
The classmates that attend this college are different. There are people of all different races, religons and gender. Some are very friendly and will help you with classwork if you ask.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I knew how much I'd enjoy attending school at Suffolk. I transferred out of a previous college to attend Suffolk. I am doing so much better than I was at the other school. It has been a great school to me. I have no complaints and will be graduating shortly. Of course the price of attending Suffolk is cheaper. I feel that I obtain more knowledge than I would if I went anywhere else. I wish Suffolk was my first choice so I didn't have to transfer so soon in my college years.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I am following a career that 95{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of them are unempoloyed. You cannot study to be an actor, you cannot find short cuts to be better. To be an actor is to open who you really are to the audience, to fill an empty vesal of words to life that is the character
What kind of person should not attend this school?
All people can attend Suffolk Community College. However, if a student is not serious about their education and becoming an active contributing member of society, I would suggest a trade school or become active in the military. Suffolk Community College offers diverse programs and a dedicated staff who expect their students to commit themselves.
The best thing About SCCC is its professors and class sizes which have been much better than the ones I had back at the first school I went to. The professors here are more like teachers while at my old school they were doing research and teaching on the side and most of them just sent teacher's assistants to teach classes which was frustrating since they couldn't answer so many questions that the professor could. Also the class sizes at the first school were massive while at SCCC they are like a standard class room.
